Chapter 6 - Chapter 5 : Crystal Lake

Time was ticking.

With the mission marked by the system and the sounds of the forest constantly whispering unseen horrors, Adam and Larissa followed a narrow trail, half-erased by time. The vegetation seemed denser there, as if nature itself tried to hide the past that lay ahead.

"Are you sure this cabin actually exists?" Larissa asked, scanning the surroundings with sharp eyes.

"It appeared in one of the movies. It was isolated, old… and it held part of Jason's mother's story," Adam replied, his eyes fixed forward. "If there's anything that can help us, it'll be in there."

The silence between them was broken only by their footsteps. When they finally saw the cabin, it looked dead. The windows were shattered, rotted wood covered the walls, and the door creaked in the wind—without even moving. There was something ritualistic about that abandoned place, as if time had stopped there.

They entered.

The smell was of mold, dried blood, and memories that didn't want to be remembered. The floorboards groaned under their feet. Broken dolls, old newspapers stained with red crimes, and… a portrait. A woman smiling. Pamela Voorhees.

Larissa swallowed hard.

"This is way too real..."

Adam approached a toppled shelf. Among torn books and decaying objects, he found something covered in dusty cloth. When he pulled it off, it revealed a thick, rusty chain… and a silver-stained medallion.

[Special Item Obtained: Chain of Silence]

Can temporarily immobilize a "Cursed Immortal" entity when activated under specific conditions.

Requirement: Must be activated in the entity's place of origin.

"This... could work," Adam said, sweating. "But we need to lure him into the lake and activate it there. Maybe with this medallion…"

"Or we die trying," Larissa muttered, stuffing the item into her backpack.

In a hurry, they returned toward the lake. Every shadow seemed to move. The forest now whispered louder. Jason was somewhere out there. Time was running out.

Once at the shore, they began setting up the trap. They buried the chain between rocks under the water, placed the medallion on a makeshift wooden stake, and left false footprints leading to the spot.

"He'll come. He always returns to the lake," Adam said, eyes locked on the dark water.

"You think it'll work?"

"I hope so…"

That's when the sound came. A crack. Then another. Fast. Like something heavy dragging itself through existence.

Jason emerged from the trees. The machete scraped along a trunk like it was marking time.

"Now!" Adam whispered, backing toward the lake.

But something went wrong.

Jason didn't follow them directly. He stopped. Stood still. As if he knew. As if he sensed something. And then, without warning, he turned—toward the direction where they had hidden the medallion.

"Shit, he sensed it!" Larissa shouted.

"He's gonna destroy everything before we trap him!"

"We have to lure him! Now!"

Adam decided in a split second. He grabbed a rock and hurled it with all his strength at Jason. It landed near the killer's foot, drawing his attention.

Jason slowly turned. The sound of his breath seemed louder. He saw them. Charged. Running.

"Run! Into the water!" Adam yelled, pulling Larissa by the hand.

They ran, the wet ground slick under their feet. They jumped into the freezing water, diving between the stones where the chain was set. Jason followed without hesitation.

But something… went wrong.

The medallion had fallen from the stake and sunk into the mud.

Adam saw the chain—but not the artifact. Jason dove in with them. His eyes burning with rage. A monster under the water.

Larissa screamed beneath the surface.

Adam swam to the bottom, desperate, searching for the lost item.

Two minutes left.
