Chapter 65 - .65

Danielle and Zachary changed their clothes and stood in front of Leng's team.

Pfft.

Cough, cough, cough.

Water sprayed out of someone's mouth like a sprinkler.

Leng's team started coughing non-stop, their eyes wanting to look but not daring to.

All the noise woke up the two kids.

Fei was still rubbing her eyes when she froze.

Rain, after staring for a moment, suddenly burst into tears.

"Wah! Mommy, why does my daddy look like a monster?"

Zachary, dressed like a sparkly Barbie, glared at Rain.

"Shut up! Don't you think Daddy looks good like this?"

Wearing a little dress and mimicking Danielle, Zachary spun around in a circle.

That spin nearly made Leng's team throw up.

At that moment, all worries about parting ways disappeared.

Leng's team waved their hands wildly. "Quick, you two leave now! Don't ruin the kids' eyes."

Zachary flipped his short hair dramatically, his eyes nearly rolling back.

He raised his finger proudly. "Hmph! You guys don't know anything!"

He grabbed Danielle's arm and sashayed out.

Danielle didn't say a word. Her face was completely red, like she had been kidnapped.

One of Leng's team whispered, "Do you think their disguise will fool anyone?"

Another shivered. "Maybe. Looking like that, not many people will want to stare."

As they whispered, Zachary and Danielle appeared outside.

At the same time, Long Xi and his team received the tracker signal.

Long Xi smiled wickedly. "Run all you want. Let's see how you escape this time."

But in the next second, Zachary and Danielle vanished again, making Long Xi furious.

The two kept jumping between locations—sometimes even arriving at a teleportation point, only to jump away again before entering.

Long Xi's team didn't have Zachary's teleportation skill and were nearly exhausted from chasing.

At one point, Long Xi planned to just wait at the teleport point. But when Zachary and Danielle showed up again, they didn't disappear.

He frowned. "You stay here and guard this spot. Do not let them through, understand?"

"Yes, Long-ge."

Long Xi rushed off like a storm.

Zachary checked the time. "Almost there. Let's go."

The next second, the two appeared in a hidden corner outside the teleportation array.

"Let's move."

They walked out confidently. Zachary looked like a rebellious woman, giving flirty looks to anyone who glanced his way.

The whole act was as gross as it could get. Long Xi's guards watching them only gave a disgusted glance before turning away.

So blinding.

That's how the two of them blended into the teleportation zone. Just as they were about to leave, Danielle saw Long Xi charging toward them.

He glared at them furiously. "Catch them!"

But it was too late.

That familiar teleporting sensation came over them. In the next second, they appeared in the lower district.

After a few more jumps, a flash of light passed over them—finally, they entered the Wasteland Zone.

The moment they landed, Danielle opened her space.

Long Xi rushed in right after but again lost track of them.

He was furious, but this was the Wasteland. He couldn't attack recklessly.

Just as he turned to leave, his wristband rang.

"Long Xi, catch Danielle. Do whatever it takes, but don't hurt her!"

The voice of Ning Wanrong screamed through the device.

Long Xi felt tense. "Master, um… they escaped into the Wasteland Zone."

"I don't care. If you can't catch her, don't bother coming back."

The call ended right after that.

This time, Long Xi couldn't hold back. A violent energy burst out from him, sweeping in all directions.

Danielle almost couldn't handle it and coughed up blood.

Luckily, Long Xi didn't lose control again—probably because his first attack had already drawn the mutant beasts toward them.

Looking at the incoming beasts with disgust, Long Xi disappeared with a flash, moving away with the wind.

Only then did Danielle fall to the ground, sitting heavily. Her eyes were wide as she grabbed Zachary's arm tightly.

"She must know. She must."

Only if Ning Wanrong had found out Danielle awakened a plant-based ability would Long Xi try so hard to catch her.

Zachary hugged her tightly. "Don't be afraid. Don't be scared. We've escaped now."

With his constant comforting, Danielle slowly calmed down.

When she turned her head, she saw concerned eyes from Leng's team. Danielle forced a smile.

"I'm okay."

After that, things got a bit easier. Danielle and Zachary also removed their wristbands, and the group slowly made their way toward Fallen City.

When tired, they rested inside Danielle's space. Once they felt better, they continued moving.

Inside the Wasteland Zone, even though Zachary could teleport, he didn't dare to use it carelessly.

If he accidentally teleported into a powerful mutant beast's den, they'd be finished.

While Danielle's group pushed forward, Ning Wanrong stared at a strong and healthy little seedling, her expression constantly changing.

Sometimes she looked pleased, other times she looked disgusted—it was complicated.

"Danielle, Danielle, you kept this from me for so long. But still… this isn't right. It shouldn't be like this."

Bang!

The door was suddenly pushed open. Dora ran in looking anxious.

"Mom, I heard Grandpa say you found her. Is that true?"

Since Ning Wanrong had drawn blood along with Ning Caishen, and she knew the result, it meant Ning Caishen must've noticed something was off too.

Ning Wanrong glared sharply at Dora. "Who let you in here?"

"Mom! This isn't the time to talk about that. Please, just tell me—did you really find the person?"

Her desperation made her forget her usual fear of Ning Wanrong.

Ning Wanrong raised her hand and slapped her across the face.

"All these years, haven't I taught you? Even if Mount Tai collapses before you, you must stay calm. Haven't you learned that?"

Dora was slapped back to reality. She took a deep breath and lowered her head to hide the resentment in her eyes.

"Yes, Mom. I know I was wrong."

Ning Wanrong finally snorted. "Close the door."

This was a fully equipped laboratory.

It was also Dora's first time in this room. Normally, she wasn't even allowed to enter.

Today, she had broken through the guards in a moment of emotional impulse.

"Mom, tell me who it is. When can I change my ability?"

Dora was already impatient.

Just thinking about having to go back to Sky City soon made her head ache.

Ning Wanrong stared straight at the strong-growing bean sprout.

"It's Danielle."

"What? No way!"

Dora's voice was so shrill it almost shook the ceiling.

"Mom, believe me. She really drank the potion. I saw it with my own eyes. You have to believe me!"

Ning Wanrong didn't even glance at her frantic state.

"None of us awakened a plant-type ability. Maybe this ability has other special aspects."

Her eyes kept flickering, and a red light passed through them.

"The most important thing now is to capture Danielle at all costs."
