He bit his lip. "Aren't you guys after money? I don't have any, but we have a lot of crystals. Can you let us go?"
Danielle's pupils tightened. Crystals? Hadn't they used all of them for cultivation?
But the man in front, Wang Jintao, seemed interested. Maybe he thought they were trapped and he could get more out of them.
Wang Jintao shrugged indifferently. "Sure, show me."
Zachary turned to pull Danielle's hand, whispering something in her ear. Though nervous, she pretended to stay calm and nodded.
The next moment, a bag appeared at her feet, releasing a pleasant energy scent.
Wang Jintao and his people immediately brightened, rushing over.
But Zachary quickly stopped them, "You can't come closer."
Wang Jintao's eyes narrowed with bloodlust. "What do you want?"
Zachary shook his head. "I don't want anything, it's just…"
Just as Wang Jintao glared, Zachary suddenly threw the bag away.
Everyone rushed to it, and even Wang Jintao lost focus for a moment. In that brief second, the group disappeared without a trace.
Wang Jintao fumed with anger, sending a powerful lightning strike from the sky. "Danielle, you won't escape."
But that wasn't what made him angriest.
When he calmed down, one of his men timidly spoke up.
"The bag wasn't filled with crystals… it's full of tomatoes."
Wang Jintao nearly spat blood. How many tomatoes could five million buy?
Danielle looked around nervously. They hadn't teleported out; Zachary had used a misdirection technique. They had only hidden in a space.
She worried that if they teleported again, they might get caught.
When Wang Jintao calmed down and left, the group finally sat down on the ground.
"That was Wang Jintao, the Lightning Hand, wasn't it? He's terrifying," one of them said, wiping sweat from his brow.
Danielle looked at him, surprised. "Do you know him?"
"Who am I to know him?" he replied nervously. "His team ranks in the top 50. As for us… we're probably outside the top 1,000."
"Can't believe I actually managed to escape from the Lightning Hand. If I tell anyone, I'll be the king of boasting."
The group's mood lightened after his joke.
But Danielle was deep in thought. According to Wang Jintao, she was likely being hunted now, and her companions' identities were probably exposed too.
They couldn't just walk around freely anymore, not only dealing with beasts and bandits but also constant pursuers.
She glanced at Zachary, uncertain. "What if we disguise ourselves again?"
She quickly covered her mouth, hoping not to laugh at her own suggestion.
There was no other way, considering how memorable the outfit was that Zachary wore last time.
Even after so much time had passed, every time Danielle thought about it, she couldn't help but laugh.
Zachary stiffened his back. "Maybe we should think of another way."
"Oh, there's no other way. I think it's fine. How do you feel about it?" Danielle asked, turning to look at the others.
Someone was eager to try, as though they couldn't wait for the opportunity.
Danielle had always liked collecting these outfits, though she only wore them at home before, never daring to go outside in them. But now, with such an opportunity, her excitement grew, and her eyes sparkled.
"I think it will work!"
After that, the group turned to look at Zachary, who immediately turned his back, trying to avoid it.
"No, there must be another way."
But no one responded, and when he turned around, his head immediately spun with disbelief. The others were already gathered around, rummaging through the suitcase.
Even the kids had squeezed in.
Zachary's forehead was covered with black lines. "You guys..."
"Zachary, what do you want to wear? A cat costume or a maid outfit?" Danielle asked with a bright smile, holding up two small dresses.
Zachary looked at her sparkling eyes and sighed. He gave a casual wave, "Do whatever you want."
Danielle clicked her tongue. "Hmm? I think these aren't right."
Before he could relax, she pulled out a cold, assassin-style outfit.
"I still think this assassin outfit suits you. So cool!"
Zachary almost choked. His eyes filled with disdain as he looked at the shorts that barely covered anything.
"Are you sure this is an assassin? This looks like it's meant for showing off your—" He couldn't even finish his sentence, staring at the outfit with confusion.
"Do you always think about these kinds of things?" he asked with disbelief.
Danielle and the others just laughed, and Danielle went on to suggest another outfit that might work.
"Here, this one seems perfect. I'm sure you'll love it."
