Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

Far away from the demon's capital, far away from the forests of elves and the mines of the dwarves, there was a small village on the continent's outskirts. It was home to a number of races that were nearly extinct.

Races with powers not nearly grand enough to combat the demons: the strength of the orcs, the mystics of the fairies, the healing blessed angels. Though each race had a niche skill that served as their lifeline they were undoubtedly dwarfed by the Three Great Tribes.

Elves with their high magics, had gone into isolation during the Continental War eighteen years ago, a period of time that was inconsequential to their long lived lives. Their magic was truly spectacular, capable of mass destruction. They were particularly suited to battling large scale armies, as they could cause earthquakes or fire storms capable of massacring hundreds, if not thousands of warriors.

Dwarves were similarly terrifying. Famed craftsmen, they were capable of building nearly anything imaginable: technologically advanced cities, weapons of mass destruction, machines that bended the laws of nature. In the first two years of the war they had united with the other races, attempting to fight off the usurping demons, however, after the scales tipped in the demon's favor they had retreated to their mines, letting the minor races to the ensuing slaughter.

Lastly, there were the demon's, who eclipsed the other races easily. Nobody on the continent knew where they'd come from. Twenty years ago, in the year 980, they first appeared on the continent, and they wanted nothing less than war. Their numbers were few, but even the lowest ranked demon wielded some form of reality manipulation. Some could stop time, while others could alter the laws of probability. Thus, it took them only two years to exterminate the lesser races and pacify the dwarves and elves.

It had been eighteen years since the war had ended, and the demons had made no further attempts to subjugate those who remained on the continent. They settled in the epicenter of the land, in their otherworldly cities, though there was one race they'd made certain to exterminate: humans.

Humans had been the lowest race on the continent before their arrival. Incapable of, cursed with average intelligence, and possessing strength that was ordinary, it was a wonder why the otherworldly demons had decided to eliminate such a pathetic race.
