Chapter 5 - The Grayson's Trash

(Unedited)

Morgan's dress stuck to her body. Her shoulders are slumped and the drops of rain are covering her view. The rain got heavier as each minute rolled by.

Drops of water perched on her eyelashes. She didn't know where she was going, she had no place in mind and could not return to the orphanage. Aside from the fact that she didn't want to return, she knew she would not be accepted back in.

The highway had very few people walking and all had an umbrella over their head, all except Morgan. They looked at the girl, she wouldn't take shelter and she wasn't holding an umbrella. Her makeup has been washed away from her face at this point.

Morgan didn't mind the looks she received. Getting to a bus stand, she decided to take a seat under the little shade.

Thunder cut through the clouds loudly. She took a seat. The shade did little to nothing in protecting her from the storm.

She had stopped crying, but her heart condition didn't change.

She looked at herself, she must truly be a trash, maybe they were right, even her parents didn't want her and had dumped her in the orphanage. She laid her head on the frame of the chair and closed her eyes, listening to the pitter-patter sound of the rain on the roof of the shade.

Morgan stayed in the shade for the next few hours.

The rain was now drizzling. Morgan knew she couldn't stay out here through the night.

Headlights cut through the dark, and the street lights turned on, lighting the entire place.

Taking out her phone, she dialed Julie number, grateful that the phone was waterproof, so it wasn't ruined.

Julie picked up on the second ring, "Morgan, where are you?" Julie asked immediately the call connected, almost blowing off Morgan's eardrum.

She had heard the news about Morgan being kicked out. She had also watched the video that was made and everyone online kept referring to Morgan as trash.

They labelled her, "The Grayson's trash."

Julie tried to call Morgan but her number didn't go through, so she had spent her time defending Morgan online.

Morgan inhaled sharply, "How are you? Oh my girl, you must be so sad. I feel like killing the Grayson's, I really want to destroy them." Julie was pacing in her room while fisting her hand.

She meant every word.

"I'll be fine. For now," Morgan began, "I need a favour from you, Julie." Morgan squeezed her eyes shut and went back to resting it on the frame.

There were others now in the shade but they sat away from her. She watched them get in the bus, life has continued after the heavy rainfall.

"What favor, say the world, I'm ready to burn down yGrayson's mansion if you want." Julie said.

Morgan swallow, she doesn't know how her words would sound, she needed somewhere to stay before she got her life straight.

"Can I crash in your house.?" Julie picked up her car keys immediately Morgan said those words and then she started walking out.

"Text me your location, I'm coming to pick you asap, and you can stay with me for as long as you want."

Morgan texted her the address and I'm the next thrity minutes, Julie pulled over in front of her.

She hugged Morgan and helped her take her luggage.

The ride was silent, Morgan huddled over in one side of the car. Julie was filled with questions but she knew this wasn't the best time to speak.

Morgan had her eyes pinned out of the windscreen watching as the car sped past other cars and the houses referred.

Fat tears rolled down her face. This time, she wasn't just crying because she was driven out of Grayson's house. If you ask her why she was crying, she'd probably not be able to say the reason.

Her heart felt too heavy.

Life has been unfair to her. Too unfair.

Morgan couldn't stop wishing that things were different. She knew she was being delusional, but she whipped her tears and indulged herself in her delusions.

A life where she had those who loved her, and they cared for her, and they didn't want her to be sad.

Immediately Julie drove into the parking lot in the building she lived in, Morgan scrapped that thought.

Julie made food for both of them. At the young age of twenty, Julie lived alone.

Morgan had met her in the orphanage and they had become friends. Julie left the orphanage when she was fifteen and their friendship came to a pause, but they reunited after Morgan found her supposed parents, and now here they were.

Morgan showered after dinner and together they laid on Julie's bed. It wasn't as big as Morgan's bed used to be in the Grayson mansion but it was enough for both girls.

"It must be hard for you, but you have to be strong. The Grayson are no part of your life anymore, it is hard to accept, but Morgan, this is your new reality."

Morgan adjusted so she was now staring at the ceiling, while Julie was lying on her side and staring at Morgan.

"I know." Morgan said in a low voice.

"I was being dillutional, thinking that I could actually have a good family and home." She pressed her lips together.

She had no more tears to cry.

"Now, I'll just have to focus on my modelling career." Morgan said.

"How about classes? We have class tomorrow," Julie and Morgan were in the same college.

Julie had gotten a scholarship to study there while Morgan was sponsored by the Graysons.

Morgan knew they wouldn't go on sponsoring her so she just shook her head, "the kids are going to talk, I can't." She said.

While she was still with the Graysons, they never accepted her and would always make fun of her for living over half of her life in an orphanage.

She always felt below them. She doesn't want to think about what they say now that she had been discarded by the Graysons. It would be worse and she would never be ready for that.

She won't be returning to the school. She had always wanted to leave it for a modelling institute. Thinking about modelling reminded her of the acceptance letter she had gotten from Doun.

It was now impossible to go since the institution fee was expensive. And she would never be able to afford it.

"Alright." Julie said. She wouldn't push Morgan.

Morgan yawned. Her body was tired and wanted to sleep but she couldn't. Julie slept first but Morgan kept tossing and turning in bed. She didn't fall asleep until 5 am.

The next day, Julie made breakfast while Morgan was still in bed. Julie didn't wake her but kept her food on the dining table and a paper close to it.

Morgan scratched her eyes as she walked out of the bedroom, closing the door behind her.

It was past 10 am. She had the entire day to herself, so she didn't care that she woke up late.

As expected, one side of her lips pulled up when she saw the plate of food covered in the dining room.

She sat behind the plate and noticed the paper beside it, Julie had scrabbled on it

She picked it up and her eyes quickly scanned the content.

"There's an opportunity for modelling at this address. Hope you don't sleep over. I took the bus and left the car. Use it. I'm rooting for you.

 Love, Jules."

A genuine smile graced Morgan's lips. She still felt weak and didn't feel like facing anyone, but there was nothing wrong with giving this a try.

She may be downhearted but she would never give up on her dream.

She placed the plate in the microwave. After eating, she took a shower. Julie had arranged a pair of jeans and top for her which she easily slid into.

She slapped some makeup on her face before stepping out.

She got into the car and drove to the company.

She pulled over and was about to step out when she saw Vera being led into the building by Davis.

She quickly closed the door. She placed one hand on her chest which kept rising and falling.

She wasn't ready for this. It was too soon.

Morgan ignited the car and drove off without stepping into the building. She consoled herself with the words that there would be other opportunities for her.

Her hands held the steering wheel and she kept trying to steady her breath.

She was nineteen and it wasn't late to start building her career. One lost opportunity doesn't count.

Her phone rang, she had stopped in a red light. An unknown number appeared on her screen. She answered without much thought.

The light turned green and Morgan began driving.

"Hello!" She said into the phone. The person on the other end was silent.

Morgan was puzzled. Who called someone and refused to speak, she was about to end the call when the person spoke.

"Hello." It was a robotic voice. Then the voice went on to speak, "now, we'll see where your hunger for love and attention will lead you. If I were you, I won't go back home, because…" the voice continued.

Morgan's hand tightened over the steering wheel and her heart ramming behind her chest. She could hear her heart thudding in her ear.

Her eyes widened and she began shaking her head. Fear gripped her.

Her phone fell from her hand. With trembling hands, she began to turn the steering wheel, but she couldn't do as she wished, cause that moment, she heard the barring sound, and then_

Boom!

A truck collided with her.

As she fought

to stay conscious, she made a resolve, "No more kindness, no more pleading for love or attention. If life gave her another chance, she'd be the villain."
