Chapter 2 - The Time of the Current and Ambition

There's no doubt that on the vast sea, if you want to become a powerhouse as quickly as possible, a Devil Fruit is naturally the best choice.

Let's not even mention ordinary fruits—Yasa doesn't have them now, and even if he did, he wouldn't look at them with any interest.

The so-called saying "There's no strongest fruit, only the strongest person" is completely bullshit.

If two equally hardworking and equally talented geniuses were given a stronger fruit, that person's starting point would surpass the other, making it fundamentally unfair.

However, developing many Paramecia-type fruits requires not just talent, but also wild imagination.

So Yasa either wouldn't eat a fruit at all, or he'd eat the strongest one! Being familiar with the One Piece plot, he naturally knew which fruits were the strongest.

The fruit Yasa most wanted was either the Dark-Dark Fruit or the Rumble-Rumble Fruit, both of which were Logia-type.

The Dark-Dark Fruit's dark gravity could return everything to nothingness, but it had a fatal flaw—it couldn't transform into elemental form. However, it could absorb all damage and convert it into double the pain.

What if the pain exceeded what the brain could withstand? The result would be only one thing—falling unconscious and being at the mercy of others.

The crux of the matter was that Yasa didn't know where this fruit was now.

In the original story, it appeared before the Sea Circle Era 1520, when Luffy first set sail and reached the Alabasta Kingdom. It was obtained by Thatch, the captain of the Whitebeard Pirates' Fourth Division, before Blackbeard—Marshall D. Teach—murdered him and stole it.

Now, in the Sea Circle Era 1493, there was no doubt that this so-called most wicked fruit was either still in the New World or hidden somewhere in the Four Seas, yet to emerge.

Secondly, there was the strongest Logia-type fruit on Sky Island—the Rumble-Rumble Fruit—that Enel hadn't eaten yet!

Not only did Yasa know where this fruit was, but he also knew its terrifying, unmatched power.

Firstly, lightning moves almost instantaneously, making it even better for mobility than Kizaru's Glint-Glint Fruit.

Light travels in straight lines, so if Kizaru isn't careful, he might accidentally fly thousands of miles away. That's why he developed the Yata no Kagami to reflect and refract light for movement. (In truth, Kizaru could never reach the speed of light—if he could, what would be the point of pirates?)

But the Rumble-Rumble Fruit is different. Unlike light, lightning can change direction.

Then there's the electromagnetic force. If developed properly, it could mimic the effects of Supernova Kid's Magnet Fruit or Admiral Fujitora's Gravity Fruit, perhaps even surpassing them.

Don't forget that lightning can generate intense heat. Like Charlotte Oven of the Big Mom Pirates, you could use this thermal energy as a weapon.

The instantaneous burst of super-high voltage heat can reach around 10,000 degrees Celsius—ten times hotter than ordinary magma.

Combined with lightning's inherent destructive power, it could easily destroy an entire island. When combined with Observation Haki's Mind's Eye, the electrical waves could effortlessly envelop all of Sky Island, leveraging their penetrating and cutting capabilities.

This ultimate fruit—capable of functioning as multiple Devil Fruits—left Yasa utterly covetous, determined to obtain it at all costs, provided it didn't fall into Enel's hands.

Based on the timeline, Enel would need considerable time to consume this fruit. Yasa had ample opportunity to secure the Rumble-Rumble Fruit before that happened.

Enel's destruction of his homeland Birka, his overthrow of the former God Gan Fall, and his establishment as the new God of Godland—all occurred in the year 1514!

This fruit, whether in destructive power, speed, or enhancement of Observation Haki, was top-tier with virtually no weaknesses. Only someone like Yasa—a transmigrator—could develop its full potential.

So when his family's merchant ship met disaster, he arrived at Jaya Island, this lawless land, not with fear but with a surge of excitement from deep within.

Blackbeard Teach had spent twenty years under the Whitebeard Pirates just for the illusory Dark-Dark Fruit. Why couldn't Yasa stake his entire life on the Rumble-Rumble Fruit?

In terms of madness, Yasa was no less than Blackbeard. He'd already confirmed the timing of the massive ocean current's arrival was approaching.

The opportunity he'd waited five years for was about to come. Either he'd fall into the raging currents and be crushed, or he'd succeed in reaching Sky Island and obtain the Rumble-Rumble Fruit he'd dreamed of!

No one starts out standing in the heavens. Whether mortal or god-like, the window to claim the throne of the heavens was closing. The One Piece would be born in three years, and the tide of the era was about to surge. From now on, Yasa wanted to stand at the very pinnacle!

Whether it's life or death, it's all in the heavens' hands!

Jaya Island wasn't particularly large. Centuries ago, half of it had been swept away by massive ocean currents and carried to Sky Island.

Originally shaped like a skull, the lost portion included the head, leaving only the teeth-like remains.

The island consisted of two settlements: Mock Town, a pirate's paradise, and a small village nearby, home to a few hundred people in total.

The village's survival in this lawless pirate territory was due to a great pirate who had emerged from its ranks. With a bounty exceeding 100 million Beli in the New World, his reputation kept the reckless criminals of Mock Town from daring to attack.

It's important to note that bounties in this era weren't like those in later times, where they could reach hundreds of millions with ease. Every bounty here represented lives truly lost in battle.

A dense forest split the island in two. The small village on this side relied on fishing and hunting for survival. While not wealthy, they could at least eat their fill and stay warm.

In the forest, Yasa leaped from sturdy branch to sturdy branch, gripping thick vines with both hands as he moved swiftly like Tarzan.

As he progressed, he mentally calculated the precise information he'd gathered from the villagers.

According to age-old village legends, the towering sea current was caused by a giant dragon's flip in the ocean depths.

The timing of the dragon's flip remained uncertain—sometimes long, sometimes short—but followed a discernible pattern. Yasa deduced from these generational records that the current's arrival was imminent.

As for this so-called "dragon flip," he believed it must either be a massive Sea King awakening from slumber or seismic activity from earth vein movements. In any case, it was a natural phenomenon.

Lost in thought, he arrived at the village beach and sat down to wait, slowly removing the homemade fishing net from his back.

Moments later:

"Yasa, snap out of it! Time to head out!"

A rough voice interrupted his musings. He shook himself awake, straightened his tall frame, and dusted sand from his pants.

Over five years, with his deliberate and accidental assistance, he'd finally integrated into the village. Now experienced fishermen took him out for fishing expeditions.

Of course, they demanded a portion of the catch. Why else would they drag along a useless burden like him otherwise?
