'So this is me after a hellish five months of being carried around like a damn baby. Tsk, how far have I fallen,' Davin thought as he stared at his reflection in the mirror.

All he saw was a cute baby with light-brown hair and a pair of golden eyes that sparkled in the morning sunlight.

It had been five months since his birth, and it took the entire duration for Dave—now Davin—to accept his fate.

He finally gave up on the idea that this was some weird dream and decided to even embrace his new identity as Davin Bluemoon.

'Three thousand Pulse Points, not bad,' he thought with satisfaction as he stared at the System screen.

Amazingly, he had gained all of it from his mother.

To his surprise, the System had no explanation for why Gaela was constantly sharing her life energy with him. The only clue was that she seemed to be overflowing with it.

Davin couldn't help but worry about this though.

Losing life energy was detrimental to any living being's life force, and according to the System, death occurred when a being's life energy was completely depleted.

Yet, despite the risk, Gaela seemed perfectly fine.

'Thanks, mother. At least I'm now assured that I won't die immediately after I turn two,' he thought with a sigh.

He had also learned that his life energy was represented by the Life Points in his status screen. And right now, he was teeming with it.

[Are you still worried about your mother?]

'Yeah…'

[Don't be. In fact, I tried to run a scan on her last night.]

'And?'

[She sensed me.]

'How? I thought you were undetectable!' Davin was shocked by the System's revelation.

[I am. But to your mother, unfortunately, I'm not.]

'Is she the one who gave me the Half-Origin trait?' This had been another question that bothered Davin for a while now.

He had never heard of the Half-Origin race in fantasy novels, and also the System had no information about it except the name.

Moreover, he didn't know which of his parents was the Origin!

[Most probably. But if she's capable of sensing me, I think she's well aware of her constant life energy loss.]

'Huh? So, is that good news or bad news?'

[Good news, I think… If she can sense her life energy loss, she might have a method to counter it.]

'I hope you're right.'

[It's just speculation, host. And rest assured, she won't be able to trace me. I made sure to lure her away.]

Before Davin could respond, two hands suddenly scooped him up. The five-month-old immediately frowned as he looked at the person holding him.

'Damn it! I completely forgot I was running away from this bastard!'

"Why do you always give me that look before I bathe you?" Ray said with a wry chuckle.

His son was glaring at him with what he considered an adorable expression.

Ray then carried the grumpy toddler to a different room, where he had prepared a bath earlier.

'Unhand me, you evil fiend! I'd rather have a beautiful woman wash me than you!' Davin wiggled with all his might, trying to escape Ray's grasp.

"Feisty as always…" Ray sighed while tightening his hold.

Soon, they reached their destination, and the stubborn brat was dipped into warm water.

Ray tried his best to gently scrub the wriggling toddler, whose main goal seemed to be escaping from the small metallic basin.

'Don't you dare touch my butt, you henpecked man!' Davin thought, renewing his struggle for freedom.

[Strength + 1!]

[Warning! Stamina 2/5!]

Out of the blue, a notification sound rang in Davin's head and a stream of words appeared on the system screen.

"Please calm down, Davin. I'm almost done," Ray said, trying to reassure his son, who had just almost drowned in the basin's water.

'Shit, I'm running low on stamina! And did I just get a strength boost?'

[Yes, every time you overexert your current stats' limits, you'll gain an increase in the exerted stat.]

'Can I also increase my stats willingly?'

[Yes, using Pulse Points. But you'll have to reach the age of two first.]

'That long?' he thought with a sigh.

"Finally, you've decided to calm down," Ray said in relief. Little did he know that Davin had been distracted by checking his status.

'Now I'm stronger!' Davin chuckled evilly inside as he prepared for one more wiggle.

"Huh!?" Ray who had let his guard down, gasped in surprise when Davin suddenly jumped out of the basin.

He immediately reached out to catch the brat before he hit the floor, but instead, he ended up splashing the basin's water all over himself.

'That serves you right!' the toddler sneered as he crawled away, butt-naked but satisfied.

[Warning! Stamina 1/5!]

"No, Davin! I just cleaned you!" Ray could only watch helplessly as his stubborn brat soiled himself all over again.

Resigned to his fate, he stood up to chase after his son. But before he could reach Davin, his beautiful wife entered the room, blocking the toddler's only way out!

Two soft hands picked up the child, and a melodic chuckle reached his ears.

"You're not giving your father a hard time, are you?" Gaela said with a chuckle, looking directly into Davin's eyes. Her son stared blankly back at her, as if she had enchanted him.

'I wonder if she has a little sister?' Davin wondered.

[…]

"You should dry yourself," she added as she shifted her attention to Ray, whose clothes were dripping wet.

"Davin is sure a handful to deal with," Ray said with an exhausted look as he walked toward his soulmate.

"Davin is not troublesome! He's my sweet angel!" Gaela argued with a pout while staring lovingly at Davin.

"He'll turn out rotten if you keep spoiling him like that," Ray sighed as he watched Gaela pamper their son.

"We'll see!"

"Did you find it, though?" Ray's expression turned serious as he asked his question.

"No, it disappeared into thin air…"

"So what will you do about it?"

"I'm not sure. I didn't feel any hostility from it when it first appeared," Gaela answered with uncertainty.

'What are they talking about?' Thanks to the System, Davin could finally understand his parents' words.

In the last five months of being a baby, he had enough idle time to learn the new language.

[Me]
