Chapter 1 - SILENCE RISE

One morning in the Fire East nation in the Sigfried district in the year 845, a 9-year-old girl was helping her mother in the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her father before he went hunting. Her father was known to be a great hunter.

While she was helping her mother set the food on the dining table, suddenly someone knocked on their door.

Knock, knock (the sound of knocking on the door).

Her father opened the door and realized that the person knocking was a doctor who was also his friend.

"Hey...! Buddy, how are you?!" my father asked the doctor, who turned out to be his friend.

"Hahahahaa..... (a small laugh), as usual, buddy, I'm fine," said the doctor, who was also my father's friend, while hugging and patting his back in a sign of closeness.

"By the way, how's your heart condition? Safe?" the doctor asked my father.

"Oh, that, it's better now, don't worry," Father replied.

"I just came to do a routine check-up on you, you're my regular patient and also my friend since we were little," said the doctor.

And my father underwent his routine check-up.

After the routine check-up was finished, we invited the doctor to eat with us, because we considered him like family.

But the doctor politely refused, saying he didn't want to trouble us, and it turned out he had brought a 9-year-old boy, who was his son, and who was sitting on a wooden chair in front of my house.

And he decided to go home, taking his son with him, and before they went too far, the girl asked the boy his name.

"Wait!" said the girl.

And the boy turned to look at the girl.

And the girl asked him what his name was.

"What's your name? And would you like to be my friend?" the girl asked.

"Why do you want to know? And why would you want me to be your friend?" the boy asked the girl.

"I... I don't have any friends here, my house is in the middle of a forest with no neighbors, so there's no one I can play with," said the girl.

Hearing this, the boy agreed to the girl's invitation to be friends and nodded his head.

"Yes, okay, I'll be your friend," said the boy with a smile.

Hearing that answer made the girl happy because she finally had a friend.

And she asked the boy his name.

"In that case, may I know your name?" the girl asked.

"My name is Erik Jager, call me Erik," said the boy.

And the boy continued.

"Then what's your name?" Erik said.

"My name is Rika Arakawa, call me Rika," said the girl.

"Alright, see you later, Rika," said Erik, waving to Rika as he walked home with his father.

The day turned, and that morning was a bright morning for Rika because her new friend, Erik, came to visit to invite her to play on a hill that was quite far from her house.

And Rika followed Erik to play tag to reach their destination, which was a hill quite far from her house.

And Erik reached the hill first, and Rika was left behind him.

And from afar, they both saw a child running towards them, screaming in fear because he was being chased by a dog.

Seeing this, Erik took the initiative to help the child by picking up a stone to scare away the dog, and he succeeded. The dog chasing the child finally ran away after Erik threw stones at it.

And Erik asked the child who had been chased by the dog.

"Are you alright?" Erik asked the child.

"Yes, I'm fine, thank you for helping me, thank you," said the child.

And Erik asked the child.

"Why were you being chased by that dog?" Erik asked.

"I was chased by that dog because the kids in town were messing with me, they're all naughty kids, so when I was walking through a narrow alley to go home, I passed an alley with a vicious dog, that's why I walked slowly through that alley, but those naughty kids made a commotion in the alley by bothering the dog by throwing stones at it to wake it up, but when the dog woke up, they ran away and left me, so the dog saw me and thought I was the one bothering it, and finally started chasing me all the way here," said the child.

"Why are they so mean!" Erik exclaimed.

"I don't know, I'm not friends with them either, and I don't have any friends," said the child.

And Erik took the initiative to invite him to be his and Rika's friend and play together. Hearing this, the child became happy and agreed to Erik's invitation to be their friend. And Erik asked him what his name was.

"So, what's your name?" Erik asked.

"My name is Arnold Huffers, call me Arnold," said the child.

"Nice to meet you, Arnold, I'm Erik Jager, call me Erik, and this is Rika Arakawa, call her Rika," said Erik.

"Yes, nice to meet you too, Erik, Rika," said Arnold with a smile.

And Erik invited Arnold to play tag together, and this time it was Arnold's turn to chase.

And they played together until sunset, and Arnold decided to end the game and said goodbye to his new friends to go home.

"Hey, it looks like it's getting late, maybe it's time for me to go home, see you later, let's play again tomorrow," said Arnold, running home and waving to Erik and Rika.

"Bye, see you again tomorrow," said Erik and Rika, waving to Arnold.

And Erik took the initiative to walk Rika home.

Erik held Rika's hand and guided her towards her house.

When they were almost in front of Rika's house, they saw the front yard of Rika's house was destroyed and in a mess.

And Rika went into her house alone and saw her father and mother shot dead due to a robbery.

And the shock of seeing her father and mother dead in front of her made her mentally unstable, and she fell silent.

Suddenly, someone pointed a rifle at her head, and it was one of the three robbers who had robbed and killed her parents.

And Rika's hands were tied with rope, and her feet were also tied so she couldn't escape.

And Rika was placed in the storage room of her house because the robbers wanted to sell Rika on the black market as a slave.

And when the two robbers finished tying up and putting Rika in the storage room, they both took bottles of beer from Rika's house and drank until they were drunk and passed out.

Seeing this, Rika wiggled to escape because the storage room door was not locked.

Rika wiggled like a worm and tried not to make the slightest sound so as not to wake up the two robbers who had passed out drunk.

And Rika accidentally knocked over a flower vase, causing it to break and wake up the two guards, who caught Rika again and put her back in the same place, and suddenly from behind, someone fired a bullet at one of the robbers, killing him instantly when the bullet pierced his head.

And the other robber, still staggering from being drunk, fired randomly, and none of the shots hit their target, and one more bullet was fired, and it turned out that the one who shot the two robbers was Erik, who had also entered Rika's house and avoided the robbers' surveillance and took Rika's hunter father's weapon that was lying on the floor next to Rika's father's corpse.

And Erik searched the pockets of the pants of the robbers he had managed to kill to save Rika and found a knife to untie the ropes on Rika's feet and hands and invited Rika to get out of this house.

One step after Erik went out, he was caught by another robber.

And the robber saw his friends dead, and he concluded that this child (Erik) had killed his friends with the weapon he was holding.

And the robber began to choke Erik until Erik dropped the weapon he was holding earlier.

And the robber picked up the weapon Erik had dropped and pointed it at Erik, preparing to shoot Erik with it.

And Erik asked Rika to help him fight the robber.

"Rika, help me (while being choked by the robber)," Erik pleaded for help from Rika.

Rika was afraid to hold the weapon because she had never held one before, and as the robber was about to fire at Erik, it turned out the weapon had run out of bullets.

And without wasting the opportunity, Erik shouted at Rika to help him and asked her to take the weapon next to the robber's corpse near her and shoot the robber who was choking him. With Erik's constant urging and forcing, Rika took the rifle next to the robber's corpse and fired a bullet into the heart of the robber who was choking Erik, killing him instantly and saving Erik's life. And suddenly, from outside, Erik's father's voice was heard, shouting Erik's name.

"Erik! Erik! Erik! and you," said the doctor, who was also Erik's father.

"Father, I'm here," said Erik.

And Erik's father went to the source of the sound coming from the storage room and brought the police to look for Erik. It turned out that Erik and Rika were in a storage room with three adult male corpses who, after Erik explained, were robbers who had robbed Rika's house and killed both of Rika's parents.

Hearing that testimony, the police believed it.

Because the police were sure that a small child could not possibly lie.

And the bodies of the three robbers were taken by the police for autopsy, and they also took the two bodies of Rika's parents, leaving Rika with no family and an orphan.

And Erik, seeing Rika sad because she had lost both her parents, asked his father to adopt Rika into their family.

And his father agreed, and Erik said that Rika was not alone now, Rika would be part of Erik's family from now on, Erik said to Rika while wrapping his scarf around Rika and asking her to come with him to their new home, which was the house where Erik lived and now Rika also lived with Erik as one family.

And they had been together as siblings for 10 years, and when he was 19 years old, Erik joined the military in the Fire East nation.

And Erik was chosen as one of the soldiers assigned to fight on the front lines against the Ice West nation.

And while the battle was still ongoing, Erik returned with his left leg amputated and his left eye blind due to the war, so he could no longer fight, which is why he was sent home.

And when he was sent home, only Rika greeted him because their parents, who were doctors, had died a year ago due to old age.

And Rika, who greeted the severely injured Erik, cried seeing her brother so badly hurt.

Even though they were step-siblings, Rika loved Erik like her own younger brother.

Rika was three months older than Erik, so Erik called Rika "older sister."

Rika was born in February, while Erik was born in May of the same year.

And Rika took care of Erik until death took Erik at the young age of 21.

And Rika decided to follow in Erik's footsteps and become a soldier.

Even though she was a woman, Rika managed to pass all the evaluations.

She passed both the knowledge and martial arts tests.

And she joined the military forces, making her the first woman to pass as a soldier in the year 857.

The story shifts to the Serberus district of the Fire East nation, a 10-year-old girl in the year 845 named Lina Leonhart.

Lina was always trained by her father to become strong so she could join the military, even though she didn't actually want to. She still underwent tough and strict training from her father to make her strong so she could join the military and become a member and receive benefits from it.

Her father had pancreatic cancer, and perhaps in another 1 to 2 years, he might die.

And if his child, Lina Leonhart, joined the military, then her father could receive treatment with access from his child, who would be an active military member.

Wherein, if registered as an active member or still able to fight for the country, then a family member with an illness could receive treatment at any hospital, but each member was only allowed to send 1 person for free treatment for their sick family member, and that was only one month of treatment in the hospital within one year, starting from the initial date of admission to the same date in the following month.

And that was what Lina Leonhart's father wanted to take advantage of, at least it was his last wish before he died.

Even if he lived for another two years, he would not be able to see his daughter, who was only 10 years old, with his estimated remaining two years of life, and he bequeathed to his child, Lina Leonhart, that he wanted his child to join the military to fulfill his father's wish.

In the year 855, Lina Leonhart's father passed away due to the pancreatic cancer he had suffered throughout his life.

And now Lina Leonhart was 20 years old, and she continued to train as her father had taught her until the year 857, when she was 22 years old, she joined the military forces, passing the martial arts exam with a perfect score, while in the knowledge exam, she passed with a slightly above-average score.

The story shifts back to the year 845 in the Eden district, a poor girl named Elira Wrenford, usually called Elira.

She was a strong child. At the young age of 8, she started working odd jobs to help her family's struggling economy.

She lived in a shed next to a resident's horse stable.

Every day she worked by running errands for people to earn a little money to buy food and drink for her and her father's daily life.

Her father worked as a farmer in other people's fields, and her mother had died giving birth to her.

Because every day she did heavy work such as lifting stacks of sacks of wheat and rice because people asked her to in order to earn money for daily life, her muscles began to form day by day, making her a beautiful woman but with a strong body and a strong punch, so she was given the title "the Valkyrie" by the residents.

And her name reached the military headquarters, and they asked her to take an intelligence and strength test.

The result was that she had a fairly high strength test score, and her intelligence score was average, meeting the requirements to pass, and she joined the military forces in the year 857 at the age of 20.

Back to the year 857, where all newly enlisted military members were gathered and would be assigned to a specific group.

And out of all the military members, only 3 women passed the selection to become soldiers.

The three women were Rika Arakawa, Lina Leonhart, and Elira Wrenford.

The three of them joined the Jiyu troop, which was the second-line troop.

They were the second batch to go to the battlefield if war ever broke out again.

They were in the same room, waking up together, so they could become close in a short time.

Several months later, a conflict arose between the Fire East nation and the Ice West nation over the territorial dispute near the border of the two countries.

And the second batch was prepared for the first time to go to war.

Rika Arakawa, Lina Leonhart, and Elira Wrenford prepared to wear their equipment and weapons, even though they were from different district regions, they still worked together as a team for their country, the Fire East nation.

They had forged a friendship over time, even though they had different skin colors and different districts, they still worked together as a strong and solid unified team.

Although they faced discrimination at first because they were women, especially Elira Wrenford, who had dark skin, often faced racism from other soldiers who were mostly Caucasian men.

Despite having different skin colors, they maintained a friendship.

Rika Arakawa was of Caucasian descent, Lina Leonhart was of Mongoloid descent, and Elira Wrenford was of Negroid descent.

Despite this, they still respected and valued each other regardless of race, differences in residential district, differences in character, and so on.

They even slept in the same room, which had bunk beds.

Rika Arakawa slept on the top bunk, Lina Leonhart slept on the middle bunk, and Elira Wrenford slept on the bottom bunk.

Even though they had their own unique habits when sleeping.

Like Rika Arakawa, who could always fall asleep quickly, Lina Leonhart, who always did push-ups before sleeping, and Elira Wrenford, who always ate heavy meals before sleeping.

The day of departure arrived.

The Jiyu team was flown to the battlefield.

They were in a difficult situation as female soldiers fighting on the battlefield.

They advanced and fought together until all three of them died in battle, but they managed to win the battle, and they were remembered as the three Valkyries on the battlefield, and their statues were erected in the center of the capital to commemorate them and as a trophy of the Fire East nation's victory.

The End
