GHOST CHARACTER: Mr. Chalk
Name: Mr. Chalk
Backstory: A strict substitute teacher who died mysteriously in Classroom 3-B while writing detention lines on the chalkboard. He collapsed mid-sentence, his final line unfinished:"I will not speak when it is not my turn."Ever since, the room has been cursed — his obsession with silence and control echoing from the afterlife.
Appearance: Faceless and tall, with an ink-black tie, frayed trench coat, and a glowing, bloodied chalk stick. The squeal of chalk on the board is his warning. His face sometimes flickers into the board's surface like a reflection.
👣 Haunting Method:
Mr. Chalk does not punish normal speech. Students can talk to each other freely after hours — but the curse begins when someone directly engages with the chalkboard or treats it like a person.
Here's what counts as a response to the chalkboard:
Writing anything on the chalkboard after it has written something first
Looking at the chalkboard while speaking aloud, even to someone else
Saying anything that acknowledges the teacher, like "Mr. Chalk?", "What does that mean?", or "That's creepy..." while facing the board
Laughing or mocking what the board writes while looking at it
Each of these counts as one response. If a student responds three times, Mr. Chalk fully manifests.
On the third interaction, he appears behind the student and slams his hand on the board, causing all sound to vanish.
He erases their mouth, and their body goes limp as if silenced by death.
Their soul is trapped in the chalkboard — and their final words become the next haunting message.
🧷 Weaknesses & How to Beat Him:
Avoid Blackboard Engagement
You may talk to others — but NEVER speak while looking at the board or interact with it. Treat it like it's not there.
...
Break the Original Chalk
Hidden in the desk drawer beneath a loose floorboard. If snapped in half, Mr. Chalk is sealed for a month.
....
Speak the Forbidden Line Backward"I will not speak when it is not my turn" in reverse, said three times while facing away from the board, disrupts his presence.
..
Disrupt Classroom Order
Flip desks, scatter books — he cannot manifest in chaos. A perfectly aligned classroom gives him strength.
...
Cover the Chalkboard
Throw a cloth or whiteboard screen over the blackboard. Prevents messages from appearing and delays manifestation.
...
Write in Red Chalk
"You Are Not My Teacher" Must be written by someone who hasn't responded to the board yet. Breaks the "teacher-student" bond he uses for control.
.....
Light from a Candle
A candle lit with a match (not a lighter) creates a protective glow. His spirit is bound to the electric lights of the school. Blow it out only when leaving.
