Chapter 1 - The Last Sun Mage

Chapter 1: The Birth of Fire

In the heart of a frozen world, where the sky remained shrouded in eternal darkness and the sun had not risen for a thousand years, there came a cry.

A newborn's cry.

It echoed through the hollow ruins of Solaria — once the City of Light, now a decaying monument to a forgotten age. Snow covered its broken spires. Statues of ancient sun mages lay cracked and buried beneath ice. But tonight, deep within the last chamber of the ruined Sun Temple, fire stirred.

Lady Vira, the last priestess of the sun cult, held the infant in trembling arms. Her hands were blistered, not from cold — but from heat.

The boy was warm. No, burning.

Not enough to hurt her, not yet. But enough for her to hope.

She gazed into his eyes. They were golden, bright like twin suns. She whispered, voice trembling with faith and fear:

"The prophecy… it's true…"

Outside, the snowstorm howled, and black-winged crows circled the skies. The shadows were watching.

Fifteen Years Later

Kael Solis had always known he was different.

In the small mountain village of Dreva, children were born pale and silent. They feared the cold, worshipped the moon, and never lit fires too bright.

Kael did the opposite.

His skin was tanned from heat no one else felt. His eyes glowed faintly in the dark. And when he was angry... things burned. Candles melted, wood cracked, and once — a house nearly caught fire.

The villagers whispered behind his back. "Cursed," they said. "Sunspawn."

Even his adoptive mother, old Mira, could not explain why frost never settled on his skin. She had found him wrapped in a burning cloth on her doorstep during a snowstorm fifteen years ago. The cloth had never burned through. She still kept it hidden under her bed — a shimmering gold fabric that hummed with ancient energy.

But Kael… he wanted answers.

One night, while he sat alone near the frozen lake, staring into the endless dark sky, a strange message appeared before his eyes — not in the sky, not on the ground, but floating in his vision:

[System Awakening…]

[Initializing Sun Core…]

[Welcome, Kael Solis. You are the last Sun Mage.]

Kael jumped back, blinking. "W-What?!"

[Tutorial Activated.]

Skill Unlocked: Flame Touch (Level 1)

Passive: Warmblood – Immune to frostbite and cold-based magic.

Kael looked at his hand. A small flame flickered at his fingertips. It danced with joy, like a lost friend reunited after centuries.

He was no longer just different.

He was chosen.

But not all lights bring peace.

That night, as Kael returned home, the village was in flames — real flames, not his own. Houses collapsed. Screams echoed. Shadows moved through the fire — tall, dark figures with red eyes and smoke-like bodies.

"Where is the boy?" one of them growled.

A man in black armor stepped forward. His face was hidden by a mask shaped like a crow's beak.

"Find him. The Sun Heir must not awaken."

Kael hid behind a broken wall, heart pounding. He wanted to run. He wanted to fight. He wanted to scream.

But then, a voice echoed inside him:

"Ignite."

His body moved on its own. Flames erupted from his palms. His fear melted into fury.

He stepped out of hiding, eyes glowing like dawn.

"I'm right here."

The shadows charged.

Kael raised his hand. A wall of fire burst from the ground, halting the enemies for a moment. One tried to leap over — Kael met him midair with a burning punch that sent the creature flying, smoking.

But there were too many.

Suddenly, someone grabbed him — it was Mira, bloodied and limping. "Run, Kael," she whispered. "They're not after the village. They want you."

Tears filled his eyes. "I can't leave you!"

"You must. You are not just a boy. You are the sun."

With a final push, she opened a hidden tunnel beneath the granary — one Kael had never seen before. "Go to Solaria. Find the Flamekeeper. Only he can guide you."

The shadows roared behind them.

Kael jumped into the darkness.

Somewhere Far Away…

In a great obsidian tower, atop the Black Mountain, a hooded figure opened his eyes.

"The heir is born," he said.

Around him, a circle of cloaked figures knelt. One of them asked, "Do we act now, Lord Umbra?"

The man smiled coldly. "Yes. The age of fire must never return. Send the Shadow Hunters."

Far beneath his tower, a chained dragon of ice groaned in its prison.

Back in the tunnel…

Kael ran until his legs gave out. The tunnel opened into a cave filled with glowing crystals.

The air was warm. Strange.

In the center stood a golden pedestal. Upon it, a staff burned with a fire that did not consume.

[Quest Received: Claim the Staff of Dawn]

Reward: Sun Mage Legacy – Tier 1

Kael reached out.

As his fingers closed around the staff, a surge of power exploded through him. Visions flashed: burning skies, fallen kingdoms, ancient battles. He saw mages like him — wielders of sunfire — standing against an army of shadows.

And then… silence.

Kael fell to his knees, panting.

[Legacy Accepted. Sun Mage Path Unlocked.]

End of Chapter 1.
