Meanwhile, at the other end of the hotel, Annabelle felt her neck stiffening while her head rested against a soft surface, coaxing a low groan from her lips.
"Ouch… Why does my body ache so much?" she murmured.
Annabelle slowly opened her eyes, only to be greeted by the harsh sunlight streaming through a large transparent window. She winced and turned her head to the other side, taking in her surroundings in a slight drowsy state.
This room looked much more expensive than hers.
She blinked again, trying to remember where she was.
Then the memory of her mission last night jolted her senses, making her sit up in bed. Her eyes narrowed, a mix of shock and confusion settling in.
"What happened last night?" she mumbled, raising a hand to her pounding head. "I was supposed to go home and report to Martin. So why am I still here? Didn't the meeting end properly?"
