Chapter 1 - Godfall

A pale looking young man with light golden hair tainted black by dried mud and dark blue eyes that looked lifeless was currently begging on the street for something to eat.

"Anything, to keep me alive please. Food, water. I will do anything please".

But no one listened to him, worse nobody even glanced at him. It was as if he did not exist, he was a stranger to the world. In the country where he lived there were rich people like the nobles and the clergy, there were medium and poor people too like the working class then there is fifteen feet of dirt and under that was the boy.

He had no family, his mother died while giving birth to him and his father was a sorry drunk that got killed because he couldn't pay back the money he owed to some bad people.

He had not eaten anything in days and only drank water from puddles and the rain. He was going to die soon, and he thought to himself:

"I wish everything would end; I don't want to suffer anymore."

As he thought that the sky split in two. The world paused as everyone stopped what they were doing to look up in silence. The clouds separated forming two wall like structures, and in the void between them two figures descended. One was as bright as the sun, when the boy looked at it his eyes almost caught on fire and the other one was as dark as a starless night.

The two figures were at a standstill at first leaving everyone wondering if there were hallucinating or not, then pandemonium. The two figures started to fight, with each strike thunderclaps tore through the air braking everything in their wake, the ground trembled, buildings crumbled, and animals became crazy. The boy thought that it was the apocalypse, and he was welcoming it with opened arms:

"Wow this is crazy, if this is the end it sure is a beautiful one." He said with a calm tone.

The clash between the two deities was indeed beautiful in a way, they moved with grace like two ballerinas, each strike was delicate and rough at the same time, one seemed to control light while the other seemed to be blessed by the clouds shadow. Their fight seemed to be a tie for now both creatures were injured but standing, neither of them had the upper hand for now.

On the ground everyone started running seeking shelter, no one cared about each other, if someone had to trample you to find a semblance of cover they would.

"Disgusting" the whispered

 "It is indeed"

The boy shivered hearing the words. No one was supposed to hear him and even if no one would have cared. He looked around trying to find the source of the voice but to no avail. Then it spoke again.

"The other way young man"

The boy turned his head so fast that he almost gave himself whiplash.

"This is the end of an era; people should be celebrating. Yet they are running around like frightened cattle, what do you think boy?"

He did not answer.

"Come on, speak up."

The boy looked at the man with a worried look on his face. This was the second strangest thing that happened to him today, no one usually talked to him and on the rare occasion someone did it was not a noble like the man in front of him. He was obviously rich. The man stood around six feet tall with short silver hair and black eyes. He was wearing a three-piece purple suit with a black shirt, black top hat and a golden monocle.

"Oh sorry, where are my manners. My name is Walter Hugh, but people usually call me Walt. How about you boy what is your name?"

The boy did not want to answer but for some reason he did: "My… My name is Fin".

"Well nice to meet you Fin. Where are your parents if you don't mind me asking."

Their conversation seemed to be taking place in a bubble, the world was falling apart all around them, yet they could hear each other perfectly, it was like magic in a way.

"My mother died when I was born and as of my father, well you can say that he is polluting the ground I buried him in. But that's none of your business, I don't have to answer to anybody. And why are you talking to me. Shouldn't you be seeking shelter like everybody else huh?" Fin said with an annoyed tone.

"My oh my, I was going to ask if you kissed your mother with that mouth, but I guess you can't." Walt said while chuckling, then he added "Shouldn't you be seeking shelter too?"

"I have nothing to live for so dying at the same time as this world looks like salvation to me." Fin said with a fake laugh.

"Oh, but boy you are deeply mistaken. Who said that this was the end of the world and more importantly, who said that you are going to die?"

Then the world came to a stop once again. The tie between the two gods seemed to have been broken. The bright one's light was shimmering to the point where Fin could look at him without too much pain. And weirder than it seemed to have been infected with some of the darkness from the other one.

"Ah such a beautiful fight, to bad it's ending. You should brace yourself kid".

"Huh?"

As Fin responded the dark deity planted what seemed to be a sword made from shadows into the bright one killing it on the spot. As its body fell into the sky it suddenly exploded into a million pieces realising a bright flash upon the world. The shockwave was so devastating that it destroyed almost everything in its way. Fin felt it traverse its body, and it sent him flying across the street. As he lost consciousness, he heard something.

"Until we meet again".

Then everything went dark, he had finally lost consciousness.
