Chapter 5 - chapter 5

Dinner at the Veyron Base

All the Veyron members had gathered in the dining room for a meal together. Tonight, it was Glen's turn to cook, and he had already prepared dishes for everyone.

Once everything was laid out on the table, Glen smiled proudly.

Glen: "Here it is! Enjoy the meal, everyone!"

As they began to eat, Noa stared at the food on his plate in awe.

Noa: "Your cooking's always amazing, Glen."

Roy nodded in agreement.

Roy: "Noa's right, you've got real talent."

Lyn, who had been eating quietly, chimed in.

Lyn: "Mhm, it's delicious."

Everyone ate heartily—except for Cris, who chose to eat the packed meal he had bought himself.

Sitting across from him, Ken looked confused.

Ken: "Cris, why aren't you eating Glen's food? Try it, it's really good."

Ken even offered him a bite, but Cris simply shook his head.

Cris: "Nah, you can have it all."

Ken shrugged.

Ken: "Suit yourself. Don't regret it later."

Cris gave a faint smile and shook his head again. That small gesture, however, made the atmosphere at the table feel slightly awkward. Ken didn't realize that most of the others knew—Cris wasn't exactly fond of Glen.

After dinner, Glen promptly cleared the table and began washing the dishes. That was his job for the day, after all.

Discussion About Havoc

Once dinner was over, Noa turned to Master Ven, looking excited.

Noa: "Master Ven, you won't believe it—Ken was incredible fighting off the enemy earlier!"

Master Ven's expression turned serious immediately.

Ven: "What?! An enemy? Did you catch them?"

Cris, Roy, and Noa exchanged awkward glances and scratched their heads, clearly unsure how to explain.

Cris: "Uhh… well, about that…"

Roy: "I think he had teleportation powers. He disappeared instantly."

Noa nodded rapidly.

Noa: "Yeah, exactly! He vanished right in front of a bunch of skeleton soldiers. His name was... Havoc."

Cris then pulled something out of his dimensional space—a rolled-up piece of parchment.

Cris: "And get this—one of his minions was carrying this."

Master Ven took the scroll and unrolled it carefully. The others leaned in, curious.

Cris's eyes widened the moment he saw what was inside.

Cris: "A spear?!"

Roy furrowed his brows.

Roy: "Why would Havoc be after a spear? Seems kind of random… There are tons of them in weapon shops."

Noa pointed at the tip of the spear drawn on the scroll.

Noa: "Hey, look! There's a small deep purple stone embedded at the tip."

Master Ven studied it closely, then sighed.

Ven: "I think… I've seen this before."

Without another word, he stood up and made his way to the library. The others quickly followed, including Glen, who had just finished his chores.

Inside the library, Master Ven searched hastily. It didn't take long before he pulled out a thick book.

Ven: "Here it is."

The title read Dangerous Weapons in History.

Noa leaned in, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Noa: "Master, what did you find?"

Cris crossed his arms.

Cris: "Could this be... a clue?"

Master Ven opened the book and pointed to a particular page.

Ven: "Look at this. This is called the Spear of Darkness."

Everyone stared at the illustration with concern.

Roy: "The Spear of Darkness? What does it do?"

Master Ven explained with a deep voice.

Ven: "It emits dark energy. Anyone struck by it will lose consciousness and become paralyzed, completely frozen."

His tone grew heavier.

Ven: "History records a man who once brought this spear into a village. Every resident fell into a coma for ten years. Fortunately, a group of Arclhos managed to defeat him and seal the weapon away."

Glen clenched his fists.

Glen: "We need to find it before Havoc does!"

Noa nodded.

Noa: "Alright, we set out tomorrow. Let's get ready tonight!"

The Veyron members stacked their hands together, their voices ringing loud and strong.

"VEYRON, LET'S GO!"

Except for Lyn, who crossed her arms and said casually,

Lyn: "I'm not going."

Noa chuckled.

Noa: "Of course. Let's get moving!"

But in the midst of the excitement, Ken raised his hand.

Ken: "Uhh… don't we need a clue on where the spear is?"

Noa froze.

Noa: "Oh. Good point."

Glen flipped through the book again and read aloud.

Glen: "It says here the spear was sealed with three stones… in Taren Forest."

Cris's eyes widened.

Cris: "What?! Taren Forest?!"

He turned to Lyn, clearly desperate.

Cris: "Uhh… Lyn, can I stay behind and help you instead?"

Noa immediately cut in.

Noa: "Cris, you're coming with us."

Cris: "But it's Taren Forest! You know the snake population there is out of control!"

Roy patted his shoulder.

Roy: "Don't worry, buddy. I've got you covered with my fire."

Cris shot him a glare.

Cris: "You remember the last time you said that? You nearly roasted me alive!"

Roy scratched his head awkwardly.

Roy: "Hehe... That was an accident. I swear it won't happen again!"

Cris rolled his eyes.

Cris: "And if it does?"

Noa gave him a confident grin.

Noa: "I'll put out the fire!"

Cris looked between the two of them, clearly annoyed, then let out a sigh.

Cris: "Fine. I'm coming. Go pack your stuff."

From the side, Glen smiled at Cris, who glared back in frustration.

Once again, they stacked their hands and shouted in unison:

"VEYRON, LET'S GO!"

They all scattered to prepare for tomorrow's journey.

Ken: "Hey guys… can I borrow some clothes?"

Glen patted him on the shoulder.

Glen: "Of course, buddy."

The Next Day...

Roy stood in front of the team, who were all geared up with their respective rides.

Roy: "You all ready?"

Everyone nodded.

Roy: "Let's go, Veyron!"

They set off—Glen in his sports car, Noa on his motorcycle, and Cris and Roy blasting forward on jet gliders.
