Suddenly, the door burst open, flying a meter away from its position. A figure stood at the center of the doorway, his chest heaved heavily. His sharp claws glistened in the dim light. His raven black hair was ruffled, and his eyes were silvery grey.

“Master…” I muttered, a small smile curved on my lips. ‘He came at last.’

The temperature dropped as his overbearing aura crept into every corner of the room. Damon didn’t charge or growl. He just walked forward slowly, calmly, as if he had all the time in the world. But something about him felt like the calm before a storm.

“Close your eyes,” he said. His voice was so calm, as if everything was alright.

Then came a sharp, horrifying sound like thick fabric tearing. A blood-chilling cry followed. “STOP! PLEASE! I didn’t touch her… I was wrong… please…!” Erik wailed. But another snap came, followed by a heavy thud against the ground.

 “Touch what belongs to me…” Damon murmured. His voice was low, steady, and terrifying. “…And this is what you get.”

A long silence followed. Then, slow footsteps echoed. “You’re safe now,” he said. He covered my body with his jacket and carried me out. The candle behind us flickered once more, casting one last glow on Erik’s bloodied remains… before it went out.

My wolf pounced within the walls of my mind, clawing at me to let it out. Fur rippled over my body, my claws elongated. My eyes turned grey.


"Where is she?" My voice came out low, carrying the weight of a sharp sword.


"That way…" she pointed to the opposite end of the corridor.


I didn't wait for her to finish before I stormed toward the direction. I didn't need her guard, I could trace both her smell and the faint scent of Ember in the air.
