Chapter 1 - The Fool [1]

Heroes, some may fall yet others may rise. It isn't guaranteed for one to be a "Hero" of the story even if he or she does have the will, yet even if they have unimaginable power, they still may fall.

This is an age-old question for humanity ever since monsters from god knows where came into this world around 2000. It's been a century since then, but the question is, "What makes a hero rise? What makes a hero successful"

That one question has been haunting humanity since the dawn of the monsters. We've seen heroes rise and command the world under one order, yet in that same spectrum other promising heroes died in battle.

But maybe god has given me a way to find the answer, it's pretty weird thinking this in my own head as if I'm some narrator of some novel, but I'm Elarion Solmyst a failed "hero", in front of me is some kind of a message in a system like one of those cliched novels.

Suddenly the scene shifts into Elarion's perspective and in front is a system window reading

"You were once a promising hero, shame you failed as one. But will you follow me and prevent what happened to you in the past from happening to others?"

Elarion looked away from the system window and looked at the mirror; his hair flowed like liquid falling in such a majestic way, making it look like his hair was shining; the color of his hair was black mixed with some silver hair. He had pale yet smooth skin; his eyes glowed red like crimson blood.

Once again he looked down to the system window yet the text shown changed

"Hey, so what will it be? I don't have all day y'know? Well, I do, but just make up your mind now before I smite you."

"Just joking, or am I?"

Elarion flinched with fear before he calmed down and replied

"Impatient much? But yeah what do I need to do? And also who even are you?"

The text on the system window once again changed

"Good, you'll learn one day who I am but for now. You're going to build a tower!"

Elarion had a mix of shock and confusion written on his face

"What?"

The system window changed again

"What? Well, don't worry, you'll be given the skill to help you make tower 2, to be exact. Well, you'll unlock more, but right now, build a tower."

Elarion calmed down again and continued to ask

"Even if I can make a tower, which I currently can't, what materials should I even use? And where can I get those materials????"

Before the system window can change text Elarion continued

"I don't even know architecture! If you chose me for a reason, you know, I'm good at analyzing and adapting!"

Suddenly the system window shook violently til Elarion stopped and the text changed

"Calm the fuck down! I'm going to throw you into another dimension of her materials and try to survive; you'll be given skills to help you collect and fight off monsters, basically run the whole operation, just execute it perfectly."

Elarion calmed down and asked for something

"Can you at least give me weapons before you throw me somewhere dangerous since I sold my old gear"

The system text changed once again

"Sure, sending one right now. In your grading system, it's around C-tier, so average, but your stats are above average, and even though you have no own skills, you were still ranked high back then."

Elarion looked pissed remembering the past

"Stop talking about it like I'm old as hell. I'm still 22, y'know!"

The system stays quiet before a sword hits Elarion on the head; thankfully, it only hits him on its side, not the edge.

Then the system text changed again

"Well, there ya go! You ready?"

Elarion rubbed his head where the sword hit him and just sighed before looking at the sword and seeing the stats using the system

Elarion sighed once again and continues

"This really is average, but I hope it can do the job, now I'm ready."

The system expanded to Elarion's height of 6'2 and width fitting Elarion it turned into a door leading to another dimension

Before Elarion could open the door a warning appeared

"Once you got the materials immediately come back. "Alright bye I'm heading in."

As Elarion walked in the door the other side looked like it was once a forest now burnt down and broken all around.

Elarion gripped his sword ready for any threats that may appear suddenly he heard a lot of noise coming from the east and so he ran north of the portal as there was a dark wood forest that may be able to provide shelter whilst he can adjust.

After a bit of running he claimed the trees and looked back at the door, he saw what seemed to be ogres stampeding into the west for some reason, the ogres had green skin they were tall as 7 foot built with heavy muscle, the orcs wielded stone axes and some a hammer.

After a while Elarion came down the tree and explored he found a cave safe from the dangers of the outside world, as he entered he encountered a group of trolls, small gnome-sized forest trolls with green skin weird noses and outright ugly human like beast.

The group of forest trolls wielded small stone daggers that seems like it was tipped with some kind of poison.

Elarion raised his sword to which the trolls respond by running at him like mad men marching towards their death without care.

Elarion was alarmed and parties, deflected and dodged their attacks, but slowly their team work fell apart as one by one they hit each other accidentally and fought amongst themselves.

Elarion however used the opportunity to kill them all in one go, I'm just some moments all the forest trolls fell, yet Elarion was tired beyond belief after some years away from fighting monsters.

Just before Elarion can rest a loud footstep were heard deep from the cave, after some seconds a mountain troll 12 foot and built just like an ogre appears from the darkness and Elarion was alarmed, he looked back towards the exit but a group of ogres were scouting the area.

Just before he or the troll could act the system came back

"I'm back! So how are you-... Wow, tough luck a mountain troll."
