The sun shined down on Sa-iq who was trying to fix his bike. On the way to the school, his breaks suddenly activated making him do an accidental flip. If Sa-iqs reaction time was slower, he would've possible broken his back, luckily he managed to protect himself with some DER. While trying to figure out which wire does what, he saw a shadow approach him. He turns his head to look up at the person and he saw a face he barely recognized
"Sami?" Questioned Sa-iq, the person kept looking down at Sa-iq. Sa-iqs shadowy face was full of holes of light, as most of the light was blocked by Sami's afro like hair.
"Sa-iq! I didn't think I'd see you already!" He said ecstatically.
"Y-yeah! Me too!"
Sa-iq stared at Sami, trying to remember just who he was exactly. Sami noticed his confused look
"Ah, you remember Sam? He was the one who introduced you to me." Said Sami.
"Ohhhh yeah I remember you now." Sa-id Sa-iq
"So Sami what brought you back? You moved cities right?" Followed Sa-iq
"Oh well my parents decided to move back here, the big city life didn't suit us much." Responded Sami.
"If you want I can help with your bike." Suggested Sami. Sa-iq declined his offer, as he was still busy fixing it himself
"Oh well, see you at school then!" Said Sami
4 hours later
As Sa-iq walked to the school cafeteria, his phone suddenly started vibrating, he picked it up and saw the same notification he saw yesterday. Z-rank demon located 500m away from your location.
"500 meters? That's practically in the school! But it's fine I guess, it's a Z-rank after all." Whispered Sa-iq to himself.
"Sara's still in her class, so I must take the demon on myself, I can't wait for her class to finish or it might start to attack people." Thought Sa-iq to himself before he began rushing over to the demon.
Sa-iq kept rushing through the school, trying to locate where the demon was. As he ran past the laundry room, he stopped as he could sense something different in there. He opened the door slowly, his green eyes scanning the place. He then noticed it, a male demon hiding among the school uniforms. This one was a little different, as the thread they usually put around they're traditional clothing, was rather pink instead of red.
"HAHA, I didn't know demons were also able to be cowards!" Yelled Sa-iq arrogantly before striking the demon with a small bolt of electricity. Sa-iq kept staring at the pile of clothes, expecting to see an injured and weak demon. Instead he saw the demon standing up, completely uninjured.
"Hmphf, I never expected puny Dermines to roam the school, especially not one who looks as young as you." Said the demon before lunging at Sa-iq. Sa-iq was barely able to block the punch. There was a complete difference in experience, as the demon was immediately able to get ahold of Sa-iq and start choking him.
"How far has the agency fallen? Or no, they've always been like this, it's just my first time experiencing something they'd consider immoral" Said the demon menacingly. As a defense mechanism, Sa-iq caused a small electric explosion around him to get the demon away from him. The demon was surprised, even though he clearly had better combat experience, he could still see a huge difference in power between him and Sa-iq.
"You must be some kind of young talent. What's your name? It'll be nice doing more research about you after I'm done here." Said the demon ignorantly.
"Sa-iq Shawkat. You don't need to tell me yours, you'll only turn into a memory that I'd look back at once I'm done." Sa-id said while gasping for air.
The demon smiled. "Bermuda, Rob Bermuda is my name. I like your confidence but frankly a child won't do anything against me!" Said the demon
Rob rushed towards Sa-iq and starts punching him as fast as he could. Sa-iq was barely able to keep up, as they kept trading blows. Sa-iq gets caught off-guard after seeing his hand covered in rubber. He looked down at his hand horrified, as he realized that he wouldn't be able to fight without his hands. Rob then punched him right in the stomach, flinging Sa-iq right into the wall and causing a small crater on the wall.
"His ability's rubber? So that's how it was uninjured from my attack? Damn it!" Thought Sa-iq to himself.
"You'll be tasty, and the power I'd gain from consuming you excites me!" Said Rob menacingly.
Sa-iq truly believed that he was going to die, he was hurt, he was injured and unable to defend himself, and he laid in front of a demon, who was drooling so much you'd think he was starving. In his last thoughts, he began thinking about why he couldn't just wait on Sara to finish her classes. Saras wind powers would work well against rubber he thought to himself. However his train of thought was suddenly broken as he saw an arrow pierce through the demon.
The demon, shocked at what just happened. Looked at the direction where he was shot from, he was then surprised to see someone with black hair, hair that seemed like an afro. Sa-iq looked over there too.
"Sami?" Said Sa-iq out loud.
"Sorry for not telling you earlier Sa-iq, I wanted to tell you when we had a proper conversation." Said Sami after rushing towards Sa-iq and unwrapping his arm.
"Are you alright? If you're injured then we should go back and call for back up." Said Sami. Sa-iq thought about it.
"No let's get rid of him right here and right now, I don't know why but i feel refreshed! As if i was never injured." Claimed Sa-iq
The demon looked at the two friends, his body completely healed up now.
"I don't know who you lot think you are, but you'd need to do more to defeat me!" Claimed Rob. Sa-iq rubbed the blood off his nose while looking at Rob.
"Let's go Sami." Said Sa-iq, Sami nodded in return
Sa-iq rushed towards the demon, his ability was practically useless against Rob, so instead he wanted to give martial arts a try. Sami jumped up high to shoot an arrow, but just barely missed. Sa-iq got over to the demon and started trading blows again. Rob was starting to get stressed, as he simultaneously had to dodge Sami's incoming arrows. That was when he had turned his face into rubber and let Sa-iq give him an uppercut. Now Sa-iqs right hand was covered in Robs transformed face. Rob used this as an opportunity to wrap a small thread of rubber around Sa-iqs neck as he was distracted.
Sa-iq was shook after realizing what Rob had done
"He- he put a thread around my neck and is blocking my DER production!" Thought Sa-iq to himself
While LER can be produced anywhere on the body, DER can only be produced from the DER-gene which is located in the brain. This means that if you were to put anything infused with DER on the Dermines neck, their production of DER is suddenly "stopped." It's the same as stepping on a water hose, the water doesn't stop running, it just stops where the person is stepping and starts building up. The only difference is that blocking a Dermines DER production doesn't make them explode from the DER buildup, the DER just stops circulating throughout their body. This means that with a small infused thread, you can turn a Dermine into a regular human.
Rob then pushed Sa-iq to the said, rushing towards Sami. Fear was the only expression anyone could read on Sami's face. He immediately ran towards Sa-iq out of instinct. Even though Sa-iq was unarmed and unable to do anything, Sami still found comfort in hiding behind people.
Sami then snapped out of it, he took up his bow and aimed it at the demon who was running back towards the 2.
"Sa-iq duck! You don't want to get hit by this one!" Said Sami before releasing his arrow. The arrow had some green liquid around it, and the arrow hit the demon right on his head. Killing the demon on impact. Sa-iq let out a sigh of relief after seeing the demon fall down. As Sami began untying, they began talking a lot more
"Sami, go place the body somewhere else, if it explodes the Agency will just start nagging on us." Said Sa-iq.
"We won't need to do that, Rob will disappear by himself." Said Sami with a smug on his face.
Sa-iq looked over and noticed Robs body slowly "burning" away.
"Wha- how?" Asked Sa-iq
"Well my ability acid, or it isn't exactly acid, but it works similar, that's what I like to believe. My ability is a green liquid that eats/burns anything it lands on, only way to stop it is to cut the body part off, say you get my acid on your arm, cut it off to stop yourself from being deleted from this world." Responded Sami
"But isn't that really dangerous? Like can't you eat through the whole earth?" Asked Sa-iq
"Nah, non-living things aren't affected by Dermine ability unless they're infused with both DER and LER, only living beings are affected by one type of energy when they contain the other inside of them. If I wanted to eat the entire earth, I'd need to cover the entire globe in DER, and I'm definitely not strong enough to do that." Responded Sami
Sami helped Sa-iq get up. "So how did you get in? I thought only people over the age of 18 were allowed to become agents." Asked Sa-iq
"I should be asking the same! But anyways apparently I was special. I don't get what they meant by that though, I'm only Z-rank" Responded Sami
Sa-iq thought to himself, "this is weird," but ignored the fact that Sami was underage and just accepted it.
"Oh yeah Sa-iq, how does this rank system work? I'm confused because do i really have to surpass 25 other ranks to reach A-rank?" Asked Sami
"No dude, the ranking system is a little weird but it goes from A to E, with Z and S being a little different. S-rank is the best, A-rank is the second best, B rank is the third etc. But then we go to the lower ranks, F-rank is the 2nd worst, but it jumps to Z, and Z is the worst rank to be at. I'm F-rank so in reality I'm only one rank above you." Responded Sa-iq
"Ahhh that's how it works." Said Sami while scratching his head in embarrassment.
