Droplets of water continued to drop from the sky steadily.
Wang Xiaoyu stood calmly on a rooftop of a building holding a sword, while his robes fluttered gently in the cold breeze.
Another figure stood on the ground. He wore a worn out bamboo straw hat, his hair was in disarray. He had a broad sword hanging on his back, with five silver rings attached on the edge. This sword is called (Mó Yá), Demon's Fang, ranked seventh on the list of the best swords in the martial art world.
There was a long scar on his face, which ran from his right eyebrow across his nose, down to the side of his mouth. He was exuding a savage aura as his gaze pierced through the figure standing on the rooftop.
This was Li Yuan, the Sword Deity of Nanjü Town, also known as the Poison Demon.
"Kid... you really have the guts to challenge me in a battle? Hahaha... hahaha..." Li Yuan let out a short laugh.
"You are indeed a once in a lifetime genius, to have reached the Meridian Mastery Stage at such a young age. But don't you think you are overestimating yourself by challenging a Sword Deity? Even though you have the Wú Chén sword, it's still not enough to fill in the gap between us," Li Yuan said.
"Li Yuan, I have heard a lot about you, but I never heard that you were such a talkative," Wang Xiaoyu said without turning to look at him.
"Alright, since you want to die so badly, I will do you the honor of sending you to the underworld..."
Li Yuan unsheathed his sword, and a tree nearby was sliced into two instantly. The rings on his sword whistled across the place.
He kicked the ground and shot toward Wang Xiaoyu, but Wang didn't budge. Li Yuan was just a few meters away when he struck a deadly vertical slash toward him...
Wang Xiaoyu shook his sword, which he had been holding in his left hand from the beginning. The sword shot out of its scabbard, and Wang Xiaoyu grabbed the hilt and made a backflip, slashing backward without even looking.
Clang!!
The two swords collided, and a strange metallic noise rang out across the place. Wang Xiaoyu was sent flying into the distance by the sheer amount of force from Li Yuan's attack. He twisted his body in midair and managed to land on his feet. He staggered a dozen steps back before finally stabilizing himself.
The building he was standing on earlier was utterly destroyed, as if it was never there.
"Not bad"... Li Yuan said with a grin.
"Nonsense"... Wang Xiaoyu responded with a serious face.
Li Yuan shot forward again, but this time with killing intent in his eyes.
Wang Xiaoyu kicked the ground and shot forward too.
Clang!!
Clang!!
A clanging sound kept on resounding in the open space as their swords continued to collide.
They suddenly clashed together, and sword energies burst from the attack and swept across the place, blowing the leaves on the ground away.
As they separated, blood finally dripped to the ground. Wang Xiaoyu looked at his left arm and saw a cut on it, but it wasn't serious.
"Kid... this is just the beginning"...Li Yuan said with disgust in his tone.
Li Yuan twisted his wrist as he demonstrated a skillful sword move, and his legs moved in unison with every motion he made with his hands before slashing forward.
Whoosh...
Wang Xiaoyu ducked to the side, and the sword energy blasted past his face at a terrifying speed.
Whoosh!!
Li Yuan unleashed another strike, and Wang Xiaoyu ducked to the other end.
Whooosh!!
Avoiding the sword energy as it blasted past him and struck a tree nearby.
Bang!!
Splitting it into two.
"Let me show you why I am called the Poison Demon..." Li Yuan said as he twisted his sword.
Black miasma began to emanate from his sword.
Wang Xiaoyu's eyes narrowed at the sword in Li Yuan's hand. He knew what this black miasma was, and how potent the poison is once you get caught in the attack.
Wang Xiaoyu took his stance as the cold breeze continued to ruffle his robes.
Li Yuan stomped his foot on the ground and jumped high into the air, rotating his body. He made a vertical slash. The black miasma shot out from his sword at a terrifying speed.
Wang Xiaoyu's eyes turned vigilant. He tapped his feet on the ground and shot backward, trying to create enough space to avoid the attack. The black miasma chased after him with intense speed.
Wang Xiaoyu stomped his feet on the ground and jumped high into the air, making a front flip, managing to avoid the attack.
The black miasma struck three trees in the distance, shattering them into pieces.
Still in the air, Wang Xiaoyu made a diagonal slash, sending a gust of sword energy toward Li Yuan.
Li Yuan slashed forward too.
Bang!!
The two sword energies collided in the air, blasting everything nearby away.
How did this kid become so strong? This fight is taking much longer than I thought. I need to end it now before something goes wrong...
Li Yuan thought to himself as he began to panic.
Li Yuan shot forward and slashed his sword once more, sending a gust of black sword energy forward.
Wang Xiaoyu slashed back.
The two sword energies collided, but the force sent Wang Xiaoyu flying backward.
Li Yuan felt a chance to end the fight had finally come.
Whoosh!!...
Whoosh!!...
Whoosh!!..
Whoosh!!..
Whoosh!!
Li Yuan sent several more gusts of sword energies.
Wang Xiaoyu struck the tip of his sword on the ground and managed to stabilize himself.
Bang!
But before his feet could touch the ground, dozens of sword energies rained down on him.
He duplicated a footwork, avoiding all the incoming attacks swiftly like the wind.
Li Yuan didn't let the chance go and chased after him, slashing his sword continuously.
Wang Xiaoyu was pushed into defensive mode as he kept avoiding the attacks.
More cuts began to appear on his body, and most parts of his clothes began to turn red with blood stains.
Li Yuan suddenly aimed at his neck, planning to slice off his head.
Wang Xiaoyu bent backward in midair instantly, managing to avoid the attack by a hair's breadth.
The sword zoomed past his face, accompanied by terrifying sword energy that blasted across his face. The blade only managed to slice off a few strands of his hair.
Without wasting time, Wang Xiaoyu took the chance and attacked through the opening in Li Yuan's defense.
Still in midair, Wang Xiaoyu spun his body and shot forward like a spear.
Li Yuan reacted quickly and brought his sword in front to defend.
Bang!!
Wang Xiaoyu struck Li Yuan with a powerful kick.
Li Yuan managed to block the attack with the flat surface of his sword, but the impact surely caused some damage.
Li Yuan was sent flying into the distance. He landed on one knee, suddenly coughing out blood.
Splash!!
The ground below him instantly turned red. He stared at Wang Xiaoyu with disbelief in his eyes.
Li Yuan got back on his feet and prepared for his next move.
Wang Xiaoyu flipped his body diagonally in the air and landed on his feet. He spun his sword in the air, followed by the rest of his body.
The trees nearby buzzed instantly. Leaves flew toward him, and within seconds, they began to revolve around him as he danced along in a strange motion.
Li Yuan prepared to counter.
"It's all over!!"
Autumn Leaves.....Strike!!
Immediately those words left Wang Xiaoyu's mouth, his figure vanished in a blur.
Li Yuan moved to counter, but before he could react, Wang Xiaoyu blasted past him like the wind, accompanied by the autumn leaves.
His sword raised by his side as the leaves continue to fall like rain in a single motion.
Blood dripped from the tip of his sword as he stood behind Li Yuan.
Li Yuan stood motionless, a deep red gash on his chest, his head instantly went low and Blood continued to spill from the wound and his mouth… and soon he collapsed on the ground.
Thud!
His sword hit the ground with a clanging sound.
Clang!!
That is how Wang Xiaoyu defeated the Demon of Nanjü...Li Yuan....with the Autumn Leaves Swordplay, fifteen years ago.
"Wang Xiaoyu had three powerful swordplays he created: the Dragon Dance Swordplay, Silent Moon Swordplay, and the Autumn Leaves Swordplay"... the storyteller said, and the crowd gasped in awe.
"When Wang Xiaoyu returned"..the storyteller continued, "his fiancee Mo Qinglan tied a long red ribbon to the hilt of the Wú Chén sword as a symbol of his victory. Wang Xiaoyu never removed the ribbon. From that day on, the Wú Chén sword always had a red ribbon tied to it. But after Wang Xiaoyu's death, the famous Wú Chén sword was nowhere to be found till this day"... the storyteller said in conclusion, and whispers broke out among the crowd.
"It's a pity such a young genius died in the hands of a beauty..... a man shouted from the back.
And the crowd instantly went into frenzy.
