Chapter 8 - Volume 2: Chapter 5, A Dungeon

In the capital of Sumerst, a training session was taking place amongst three young teens and the Healing Sword God of the East. Master Paarl was walking cautiously under the shade of a dense forest. He had one hand on his sword's handle, which was still in its sheath. His eyes darted around the treetops, his face making a tense expression as a drop of sweat rolled down his cheek. His stride was short and slow. His feat made no sound when hitting the ground, and his body emanated no aura. Farther down his path, Lura was hiding behind a large tree. She had her sword out, and was ready to attack when Paarl got close enough. After the distance between them lessened, Paarl snapped his fingers. This caught Lura off guard, which triggered her to relocate. However, the ground beneath her feet had turned into mush that held her in place. Paarl's voice echoed through the woods, "You'll have to do better than that, Lura." He appeared on the other side of the tree. He leaned his back against its bark and sighed, "Phew… your aura is still leaking. You gotta practice your control more often." He continued talking, but before another word could come out of his mouth, Lura twisted her torso and slashed the tree clean in two. Paarl jumped back before her sword could meet with his body. He turned around to face Lura. Her eyes were filled with rage, her face was red and she was staring daggers at him. "Now!" She said. Paarl's eyes opened. In the blink of an eye, a bolt of lightning shot down. SHHCRACK! The lightning bolt blew away the tree, and all the surroundings in a 10 meter radius. Lura was grabbed by Nyleah, who was running away from the area that was just blasted. Nazeem jumped down from the treetops, staring at the smoke that picked up due to his lightning. Behind him was Nyleah and Lura who were retreating. He raised his arm and began channeling mana. Before he could manifest any magic, a heavy pressure surrounded the area. His body felt weaker, and he fell to his knees. The smoke cleared away, and Paarl appeared. His aura was emanating with large amounts of malice. To Nazeem, Paarl looked like a monster, towering over him with incredible power. Sweat dripped off Nazeem's cheek. He clenched his fist, and got off the ground. Paarl unsheathed his sword, and began walking closer. His eyes were glowing a bright purple color, the same as his aura. Paarl grabbed his shirt collar, and ripped it off him. Nazeem's eyes widened at this sight. His torso was covered in blood and lichtenberg figures. His body began glowing a bright green color where his wounds were the most prominent. And they began to heal. Nazeem stretched out his arm once more, and shot out a bolt of lightning. But Paarl jolted to Nazeem's right, dodging it and lunging at him in response. He raised his sword and swung down. Nazeem rolled left, barely dodging the strike, which shattered the ground, making a shockwave that pushed Nazeem into a nearby tree. Paarl charged once more, raising his sword. But before he could strike again, Nyleah appeared to his left and shot an arrow. Paarl deflected it and began channeling mana into his left hand. He raised it and shot out a water ball at incredibly fast speeds. It was too large for Nyleah to dodge, so she channeled mana into her bow, and focused. Her grip tightened, and an aura began flowing into the weapon. Suddenly, it was engulfed in flames. Nyleah yelled out, "Fire Arrow!"

And she released her bow, sending a flaming arrow flying into the water ball. It pierced through the water and shot out towards Paarl. He swung his sword, making contact with the arrow. Nyleah raised her arm and focused on making her flames more powerful. Paarl continues clashing with Nyleah's arrow. Its flames grew larger and more chaotic. The Sword God clenched his teeth and pushed off his back foot. The shockwave from the clash made every tree around them crack and fall. "Hyaah!" Lura jumped down from above Paarl's behind. She swung downwards, aiming for his head. Paarl tapped his back foot against the ground, which sent a wall of stone shooting upwards, disrupting Lura's attack. Nazeem charged in, channeling mana into his right fist. He pulled his right arm back, and swung at Paarl. Before his fist landed, a burst of lightning appeared around his entire arm. And then, BOOF! Nazeem punched Paarl's left cheek. Paarl had been clashing with Nyleah's arrow, but Nazeem used that opportunity to send him flying. Paarl crashed through several trees, before crashing into a large boulder. "Gyuh… damn…!" Blood was gushing down from the left side of his face. His cheek was red and puffy. "...Y'all definitely win." Nyleah, Lura and Nazeem walk over to Paarl, smiling. "Ya hear that!?" Lura said, with delight. Nyleah nodded, "Yeah, hehe." Lura and Nyleah grabbed each other's hands and began hopping with joy. Nazeem walked over to Paarl and held out his hand for support, "Here ya go, master." Paarl smiled and grabbed Nazeem's hand, "You kids are the future of this country. It's safe to say we'll be in good hands, haha."

Meanwhile, Kiliano and Vencer made their way to the front gates of Caale, the capital of Vraldeen. The city was surrounded by a large stone wall, similar to the one surrounding Zuri'el's capital. Vencer walked over to the gates, and after a few moments, they opened. The inside of Caale was busy. People walked over every square foot of the streets. The hustling of footsteps and voices of rushing people filled Kiliano's ears. The closest thing he had ever experienced to this was the markets in the capital of Zuri'el. "C'mon Kiliano." Vencer walked in, making his way through the busy streets. Kiliano followed behind. He dodged past every person walking by, trying his best not to make physical contact with anyone. The two of them made it down the main road, in search of an inn. Kiliano was looking around at each building when someone walked up to him and started talking, "Hello friend! Can I interest you in a little deal?" Kiliano was taken aback by this. He had never seen this random man before, "Uh… excuse me?" The man smirked, "Well, friend… I seem to be in possession of a very powerful weapon." The man put his hand behind his back, and pulled out a knife. Its blade curved back, with etchings covering it. "So, my dear friend. You see… this weapon was forged by a legendary sword maker. It may be small, but it can cut through anything!" Kiliano's face turned grim. He took a look at the blade, but it seemed no different from the iron sword he had on his waist, "N-no thank you." He said, and walked away, catching up to Vencer. The man watched as Kiliano walked away. His face turned from a smile to a blank stair. "M-master!" Vencer turned around to wait for Kiliano. Once he caught up, the two of them continued making their way down the road. After a few more minutes of walking, they made it to a gateway blocking a giant mansion. Vencer walked over to someone who was guarding it and began talking to them. Kiliano began looking around. The mansion was huge. It was probably the same size as Zuri'el's entire capital. It was so big the city's walls couldn't fit it in so the entire backside protruded out. Past the gates was a huge courtyard, with rows of trimmed bushes covering each pathway. Tap tap. Vencer tapped his finger on Kiliano's shoulder, "C'mon kid, let's go." The guard by the gate opened it and let the two of them through. Vencer and Kiliano took a few steps inside before being greeted by a man. "Hello sirs. We've been expecting the two of you. Master Quorin is waiting for you." The man wore a black suit and held a rapier by his waist. As the three of them began walking, Kiliano glanced over at the man. His eyes were slightly suspicious as he scanned the man's presence. After a few more moments, The man and Vencer stopped in front of Kiliano. "Hello there! I see our guests have arrived." A girl was talking in front of Kiliano. He glanced over Vencer's shoulder. A girl, roughly his age, was talking to the man and Vencer. She had white long hair, and her eyes were a soft purple color. She wore a white skirt and black tank top. The girl noticed Kiliano glancing over Vencer's shoulder. She smiled and said, "Well hello there. You must be the one father's been talking about…" Vencer moved to the side, and the girl reached out her hand to shake Kiliano's, "...My name's Victoria Quorin, heir to the Quorin estate. And you must be Kiliano, right?" Kiliano shook her hand and nodded, "Yeah, it's nice to meet you." Victoria smiled and turned to the suited man, "If the two of you don't mind, I'll take Kiliano on a tour, kay'?" The suited man nodded with a smile, and Vencer shrugged. Victoria grabbed Kiliano's arm and took him down a separate pathway, "Alright, since they're gonna be doing some boring stuff, why don't I show you around?" Kiliano smiled awkwardly, "Y-yeah sure." Victoria took them through a tunnel made of trimmed bushes. The tunnel led them to an entranceway into the mansion. She opened the door, and they both walked inside. The mansion's interior was just as Kiliano had expected. High quality rugging covered every inch of the floor. The room stretched farther than Kiliano could see. And butlers occasionally walked through a corridor. "Alright, well this is the main lobby area. It stretches through the entire mansion. C'mon I'll take you to the dining area next!" SAhe grabbed Kiliano's hand again and began walking down the lobby. After a few seconds, she released her grasp on Kiliano's hand, as the two of them continued walking. She would periodically glance over at him. "Sigh… alright…" She whispered. "Hey… y'know Killiano… You're pretty good lookin'." As soon as Kilinao heard this, the two of them stopped walking. His eyes widened and his face went red, "W-what!? No-no, I don't think so." Kiliano shot his head down. Victoria smirked, "Well, yeah..." She bent down, and turned her face up to look Kiliano in the eyes, "...You're definitely the best lookin' guy in Caale. At least you are in my opinion. Not only that… but I've heard you're a generational talent when it comes to fire magic and swordsmanship." This made Kiliano smile slightly. Victoria put her hand on his chest and said, "And you've got muscle hehe." "Gah!" Kiliano shot backwards, flailing his arms up. Victoria's smile widened. She put her hand to her mouth and laughed, "Haha! Loosen up Kiliano. You're too good looking to get this flustered." She turned away from Kiliano and continued walking down the lobby, "C'mon. The tour isn't done yet." After a few moments, Kiliano followed behind her.

Meanwhile, the suited man and Vencer sat down in a secluded room. The two of them waited for a few moments before a door opened from behind the suited man, "Sorry for the late arrival. It seems my son is getting into more trouble..." A man walked in. He wore a black shirt and pants. A red coat covered his shoulders and back. It was attached to him by a golden beed which stretched across his chest. "...Ahh, Vencer you're finally here!" The two of them made eye contact. Both of their eyes had murderous intent emanating from them. The air around them grew thin. But just as things seemed to get worse, the man smiled and opened his arms while walking over to Vencer, "Ahh my friend! I'm glad you could make it in such short notice!" He gave Vencer a tap on his back and laughed. Vencer's eyes softened and he smiled back, "It's good to see you George. How's July doing?" George snorted, "She's been givin' me a hard time in bed. Apparently I'm not doing enough to help with our son's current predicament, so she's refused to do anything! Can you believe that!? It's like I'm livin' in hell!" Vencer sighed while shaking his head, "Oh man George… you haven't changed a bit." The suited man cleared his throat, "Ahem! Sir, I believe we should begin?" George Quorin nodded and sat down across from Vencer, "Alright pal… Let's get some things straight here. You are aware of the numerous Emperor class dungeons that pop up occasionally, correct…?" Vencer nodded, "...Well, my intel says that they've uncovered a special dungeon. One that makes Emperor class dungeons seem insignificant." George narrowed his eyes, and the tone in the room shifted to a more serious one. "From what I've heard… It could be a God class dungeon." Vencer's eyes widened in surprise, "Okay, so I'm guessing you want me to clear this thing?" George shook his head, "No. Despite your immeasurable power… I doubt you'd be able to clear it on your own." Vencer crossed his legs and put his hand on his chin, "How interesting. If it's that dangerous… then why not inform Master Solomon of this?" "Well actually… I tried. But Solomon hasn't been present in Vraldeen for some time. My guess is he's busy fixing the problems with Shyzenkraum and The Thirteen Kingdoms." Vencer nodded. George snapped his fingers. After a few moments, someone walked through the door behind him. A man walked over to Vencer, and handed him a sheet of paper before he walked out and closed the door. Vencer began reading through the paper. After a few seconds of reading, Vencer stood up, "Alright, what's the deal with this thing? From the data that you've shown me. The mana residuals within the dungeon far exceed any other dungeon in history. At least from what I know of." George nodded, "Yeah, that's what makes this so exciting. If I'm right about this… then we could be talking about a whole new era of dungeons. An even higher class, above Emperors. The first ever God class dungeon. However… if I'm telling you the truth… that isn't exactly why I'm so excited..." Vencer tilted his head to the side in confusion. "...I've had some of my men read through a lot of ancient novels. And apparently, there was a dungeon 300 years ago that was also classified as God tier. And it's said that whomever defeats the dungeon boss… has their greatest wish granted to them." Vencer's eyes widened, and his gaze shifted back to George, "Do you realize what you're saying? If that's true… then this dungeon is quite possibly the recipe for world destruction." "Ehh, I guess you could look at it like that. But think of it this way… If you completed the dungeon, then you could wish for her lift back. Don't you want to see Miss Fi-""Shut your mouth…" Vencer's eyes emanated malice and hatred, "...Do not not say her name. I've told you this many times… Bringing back the dead isn't possible." "Right, sorry. I guess it still hurts. I should've been more sensitive about that topic. But don't forget… She was my friend too..." George stood up along with the suited man, "...Let us take a look, yes?" Vencer's eyes stayed focused on George, but he did not answer. George shrugged, "Alright then… I'll give you until tomorrow. If you change your mind, then I'll take us to the dungeon. In the meantime, have a good rest friend." Vencer turned away from George, and began walking out of the room. He opened the door and made his way into the main lobby. After turning a corner, he spotted Kiliano and Victoria walking his way. Kiliano spotted him and waved, "Hey master. How's it going?" Vencer put his hand on Kiliano's head, "Let's go kiddo. I'm feeling tired." His tone was stern and bitter. Kiliano turned to Victoria and shrugged, "I'll cya later Victoria." She frowned, "Y-yeah. See you later, Kiliano." Vencer and Kiliano went off to their room. They walked up three flights of stairs, and walked down a long hallway before arriving at their room. Vencer opened the door, revealing a giant room, with two beds, a kitchen and a bathroom. Kiliano ran over to the end of the room and opened the blinds. Outside of their room was the perfect view of the entire city. From where Kiliano stood, he could see the entirety of Caale, "Phew! This room's nice! Master I gotta say… I like this place." Vencer sighed and sat down on his bed, "Yeah yeah. It's nice, I get it. Don't get used to it. We won't be staying long." Kiliano frowned, "Aw c'mon master! Why don't we relax for a bit longer?" "Out of the question! Master Solomon is waiting for your arrival. We cannot afford to dilly dally." Kiliano's eyes saddened. He walked over to his bed and laid down on it, "Master…" His tone was sad and filled with reluctance, "...Do you think… uhh, nevermind." Vencer turned to face Kiliano, "C'mon kid. You can't leave me hanging like that. What is it?" Kiliano blushed slightly, "W-well… don't take this the wrong way, okay!? B-but, uh… do you think I'm good… looking?" Vencer's eyes widened, "Damn kid. I didn't think that you swung that way." "I-I don't! I'm asking because of something Miss Victoria said." "Ah, I see. Well judging from what I can tell… you're pretty good looking. If I were a girl, and your age, then I'd definitely find you quite attractive. Any normal girl would too. So don't worry about that. You won't have any trouble at all with women, trust me." Kiliano stared blankly at the wall, "Oh okay. I guess that's good." Vencer snorted, "Well no shit. I'd kill to have your looks, kid." "Haha! So I'm better looking than you!" Kiliano stood on his bed and began pointing at him while laughing. Vencer got mad and dashed behind Kiliano. He grabbed his ear and began pulling on it, "Ow ow ow ow! I'm sorry, okay!?" Vencer snorted again, "Just shut up kid. You're too arrogant and bratty." Vencer released his grip on Kiliano's ear and sat down on his own bed. Kiliano jumped off his bed, "Alright I'm gonna take a bath." He walked into the bathroom and shut the door. He stripped down and used water magic to fill the bathtub. Kiliano stepped inside and submerged himself, "Meh, it's a bit cold." Kiliano began using fire magic under the water to warm it up. Steam began rising from the bathtub, which filled the room with fog. Vencer stretched out on his bed and yawned. He reached over to the nightstand beside him and grabbed the sheet of paper that held the information about the newly discovered dungeon, "A God tier dungeon, ay? I must say, that's quite intriguing." Just then, someone knocked on the door.

After a few more minutes, Kiliano stood out of the bathtub and began drying himself off. He wrapped his waist with a towel and grabbed another one to dry his hair. He opened the bathroom door and walked out while drying his hair with the towel over his head. Vencer began talking, "Uhhh, Kiliano… we've got a guest." Kiliano took the towel off his head and looked back up. His gaze immediately met with Victoria, who was standing less than a meter in front of him. She smirked, "Well hello there, Kiliano. Oh wow you're a lot more jacked than you look when you have a shirt off, haha." Kiliano's eyes widened and his face turned pink, "Gyah! I'm sorry!" He bolted back into the bathroom and slammed the door behind him. Victoria turned to Vencer. He shrugged, and she laughed. Kiliano stood in the bathroom for a few seconds, trying to understand what had just happened. After a bit, he snapped out of it and called to Vencer from the bathroom, "Uh, master! Can you hand me my clothes please!?" Vencer hopped off his bed, walked over to Kiliano's pile of clothes and picked them up. He knocked on the bathroom door, opened it and handed the clothes over to Kiliano. Kiliano shut the door and began putting his clothes back on. After he was fully clothed, Kiliano walked out of the bathroom. He walked over to Victoria and said, "Uh, hey." She smiled, "Hi!" Kiliano blushed slightly, "S-sorry 'bout that. But uh… if you don't mind me asking, why are you here?" Victoria's face made an expression of curiosity. She stuck out her arm and began poking at Kiliano's chest, "Wow, your pectorals are massive!" Kiliano jumped backwards, "What're you doing!?" Victoria giggled, "Hehe sorry about that. But I couldn't help myself…" She walked closer to Kiliano, "...And I guess there is a reason for why I came here..." Vencer's eyes shifted to Victoria and Kiliano, "...I wanted to ask you out on a date!" Vencer and Kiliano's eyes widened. Vencer sat up from his bed, and Kiliano's knees began to wobble, "I-I'm sorry what? I think I may have misheard you." Victoria shook her head, "No you didn't. I want to go on a date with you." Kiliano's jaw dropped. Vencer turned away from them and quietly laughed. "W-well, I'm flattered." "Then you'll say yes?" Kiliano put his hand to his forehead, "Oh man… trust me I'd love to. But we'll be leaving tomorrow, so I won't be able to stay." Victoria sighed, "Yeah I know that. But that's okay I guess. Hehe.. I'll just follow you!" Vencer's eyes shot out of his head, "Absolutely not! Miss Victoria, your father would kill me if you ran away with us!" Victoria turned to face Vencer, "Not if I kill him first." Her body began emanating malice. The room turned dark and her eyes gleamed a murderous red color. "Kidding…!" Suddenly the room turned back to normal, "...But I can probably get permission from my father, so long as I stay with you, master Vencer." "Mehh, maybe. But I'd rather not have to take care of another brat, y'know?" Victoria puffed out her cheeks. Kiliano tapped her on her shoulder, "Uh, Miss Victoria." She turned to face him, "You can drop the miss, okay?" "Uh, sure. Well Victoria…" He smiled warmly at her, "...I'd love to go on a date with you." "Yippee…!" She began jumping up and down, "...Okay then, I'll meet you in the lobby in half an hour, okay?" Kiliano nodded. Victoria left the room and Kiliano turned to face Vencer, "So master… whaddya think?" "I think you're the luckiest man alive." "Haha. Well I gotta admit, I wasn't expecting that." Vencer snorted, "Yeah whatever." Vencer laid back down and turned his back from Kiliano.

After half an hour passed, Kiliano walked down to the main lobby. He walked over to the front desk and started waiting. After only a few moments, Victoria's voice called out, "Hey Kiliano, c'mere!" She was standing by the mansion's main doors. Kiliano smiled and walked over to her, "Hey, sorry were you waiting for me?" "No, I actually just got here. You ready to go?" Kiliano nodded his head, and the two of them made their way into town. Right as they left the mansion, George Quorin walked out of a room, and made his way into the main lobby. Vencer appeared, walking down a flight of stairs. He walked into the main lobby and spotted George, "Yo!" George turned his head and waved at Vencer, "You ready, friend?" Vencer nodded. The two of them walked out of the mansion and made their way out of Caale.
