Eve drifted off to sleep, her mind still reeling from the events of the day. As she slipped into the dream world, she found herself standing in a lush garden, surrounded by vibrant flowers and towering trees. Roman stood before her, his eyes locked on hers with an intensity that made her heart skip a beat.
"Why do you haunt my dreams, Roman?" Eve asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Roman's gaze never wavered. "I don't haunt your dreams, Desire. I'm just trying to reach you."
Eve's eyes searched his face. "Reach me? What do you mean?"
Roman took a step closer, his voice low and husky. "I mean, I want to connect with you, Desire. You're the only one who can see me, hear me. I feel like I can be myself around you."
Eve's heart fluttered at his words. "I feel the same way, Roman. But it's not just about being seen or heard. It's about...understanding each other."
Roman's eyes crinkled at the corners as he smiled. "I think we're starting to understand each other, Desire. Don't you?"
As they stood there, the air between them seemed to vibrate with tension. Roman's gaze dropped to her lips, and Eve felt a spark of anticipation. Without thinking, she leaned in, her heart pounding in her chest.
Roman's eyes locked on hers, and he whispered, "Eve..."
Just as he was about to kiss her, Eve's eyes flew open. She sat up with a start, her heart racing, and her breath caught in her throat. She looked around, disoriented, realizing she was in her own bed. It was just a dream, but the sensation of Roman's presence lingered, leaving her feeling breathless and confused.
As she looked around, disoriented, she saw Roman standing in her bedroom, watching her with an intense gaze. Eve's heart skipped a beat as she realized she wasn't dreaming anymore. Roman was really there, in her room.
Eve's face flushed as she remembered the dream she'd just had. She felt like Roman could read her thoughts, see the intimacy they'd shared in her dream. She looked away, trying to compose herself.
Roman, however, seemed oblivious to her inner turmoil. He walked closer to her bed, his eyes locked on hers. "Desire, I...I was just watching you sleep," he said, his voice low and husky.
Eve's eyes snapped back to his, and she felt a jolt of electricity. She couldn't help but wonder if Roman had somehow sensed her dream, if he knew how she'd felt about him in that moment.
The air between them was charged with tension. Eve felt like she was melting under Roman's gaze, like she was trapped in a moment that was both awkward and intimate.
Roman seemed to sense her unease and took a step back, his eyes never leaving hers. "I'm sorry if I startled you," he said, his voice softening.
Eve shook her head, trying to clear the cobwebs. "No, it's...it's fine," she stammered.
As he stood there, the silence between them grew thicker, like a palpable thing. Eve felt like she was drowning in Roman's gaze, like she was losing herself in the depths of his eyes.
The moment hung in the air, suspended in time. Eve felt like she was on the precipice of something, like she was about to step into the unknown. And Roman, with his intense gaze, seemed to be waiting for her, waiting to see what she'd do next.
Roman's eyes crinkled at the corners as he teased, "You look like you've been running a marathon, Eve. All flushed and breathless. Do you still need some privacy to freshen up?"
Eve's face grew even hotter as she realized she was still sitting there, looking like she'd just run a mile. She felt like she'd been caught off guard, like Roman had caught her in a vulnerable moment.
She tried to laugh it off, to play it cool, but her voice came out husky. "Yeah, maybe I do need a minute," she admitted, feeling a bit self-conscious.
Roman's gaze lingered on her face, and Eve could sense a hint of amusement in his eyes. "Take all the time you need," he said, his voice low and smooth. "I'll just...wait here."
Eve nodded, feeling a bit flustered. She threw off the covers and got out of bed, trying to compose herself as she headed to the bathroom. As she closed the door behind her, she let out a deep breath and leaned against the sink.
What was wrong with her? Why was she reacting like this around Roman? She splashed some water on her face, trying to cool down her flushed skin.
As she looked in the mirror, Eve caught a glimpse of herself, and her eyes widened. She did look like she'd been running a marathon. Her cheeks were pink, and her eyes sparkled with a mixture of excitement and embarrassment.
She took a few more deep breaths, trying to calm herself down. When she finally emerged from the bathroom, she felt a bit more composed, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that Roman had seen right through her.
Skin glowing from the bath, Eve began to rub in her skincare products, enjoying the soothing sensation. As she reached for her face cream, she realized she'd run out.
"Ah, I'm so glad Isabella's back in the country," Eve said, smiling at Roman. "We can go shopping together, and I can restock my skincare essentials. I need to get some more face cream."
Roman's expression darkened, and he looked away, his jaw clenched. Eve noticed the change in his demeanor but didn't think much of it.
"I thought it would be nice to catch up with her, too," Eve continued, unaware of Roman's growing unease. "It's been a while since we've hung out together."
Roman's eyes snapped back to hers, a hint of irritation flashing in their depths. "I'm not sure that's necessary," he said, his voice tight.
Eve raised an eyebrow, sensing something was off. "What's wrong? I thought you'd be happy to see Isabella."
Roman's gaze lingered on hers, and for a moment, Eve thought she saw a glimmer of something like possessiveness in his eyes. "I'm just...concerned," he said finally. "With Isabella back, you might not need me as much."
Eve's eyes widened in surprise. She hadn't expected Roman to react like this. "Oh, Roman, that's not true," she said, trying to reassure him. "You're...different. I like having you around."
Roman's expression softened slightly, but the tension in his shoulders remained. Eve couldn't help but wonder what was really going on in his mind.
