Chapter 6 - Streamer! You… You’re My Hero!

JustHereToContradict:"Nonsense! My friend has a Gloom and it reeks all year round. The smell could knock someone unconscious! There's never a time it doesn't stink!"

Lovy glanced at the comment, unfazed, and kept going:

"Now, that's true in theory—but here's what people forget: most Glooms experience emotional fluctuations throughout the day. Every time that happens, they release pollen. And that smell lingers. Because of the odor, people avoid them, which in turn stresses them out more… and the cycle continues!"

"Before long, the Gloom is stuck in a loop. Always smelly, always miserable."

Miss Carrot's face fell.

If that was true, wouldn't her Oddish, after evolving, be even worse?

But Lovy suddenly raised his voice, filled with energy:

"But! Here's the key! If a Gloom is emotionally stable—calm enough not to release pollen in the first place—it won't smell at all!"

The viewers leaned in.

Miss Carrot's eyes widened."Streamer… are you saying…"

"That's right!" Lovy nodded firmly."It all comes down to the Pokémon's nature. From what I can tell, your Oddish has an incredibly calm temperament. Even when it does experience emotions, the fluctuations are minimal."

"So, once it evolves into Gloom, if it follows that same pattern, it can absolutely remain odor-free. That's why I said—you can't just toss it away!"

"And don't forget—this Oddish has S-tier individual values, and it already knows Mega Drain! Honestly, I can't even believe it. This is a top-tier, one-in-a-million Pokémon! Forget 'stinky'—it's a hidden gem. It's pure gold!"

Lovy's tone rose with every word. He wasn't just explaining—he was building a moment. As a streamer, it was his job to carry the vibe, to bring life into the room. Sometimes that meant faking the hype until the crowd felt it too.

Miss Carrot's eyes were sparkling again."You're serious?!"

Lovy had just explained everything so clearly—the biology, the logic, the unique case of her Oddish—and ended by calling her Pokémon exceptional.

The chat erupted:

WiseOldWeedle:"Who IS this guy? He knows so much!"UsefulStreamEnjoyer:"I knew watching streams could actually teach you stuff!"PokeForumOG:"Dude! I read something like this once in a forum post, but Lovy just laid it all out like a pro!"SnipeSniffBuyer:"Hey, is she selling that Oddish? I'll pay top coin!"

Lovy's viewer count was climbing fast. He was riding a wave now.

Of course, every party has its heckler—

JustHereToContradict:"LMAO, this guy really practiced his rhymes! What are you, a grad student? You say the Gloom won't smell—where's your proof?!""Can't believe people are falling for this. If it doesn't stink, is it even a Gloom? Trash is still trash!"

Lovy stared at the screen. His hands clenched slightly. This guy was truly committed to being a troll.

Just as he was thinking of how to clap back, something caught his eye—A flicker of movement on-screen.

Wait… was it…?

"No way…"

Lovy's heart skipped. The Oddish was evolving.

Right now. On stream.

"Oddish?! You—!"Even Miss Carrot was stunned. She covered her mouth, tears threatening again.

The chat went wild:

"What?! It's evolving right now?!""We're getting to the truth! If it evolves now, we'll know if it smells!""Who says this is scripted now? No one times a Pokémon evolution that perfectly!"

In this world, Pokémon evolutions weren't well understood. There was no Pokédex, no exact level lists.

Some evolved suddenly, triggered by nutrition, stress, emotions—no one fully knew.

This particular Oddish? It was right on the brink. All it needed was one push.

And Lovy's explanation, his faith, and the recognition? That was the push.

In games, we talk about "friendship evolutions."But in the real world of Pokémon, that translated into belief, connection, and trust.

Odds were, this Oddish had been holding back—afraid of becoming Gloom, knowing everyone thought Gloom was disgusting.

But Lovy had changed that.

Now it wanted to evolve—not out of fear, but pride.

The screen flared white. Oddish's body glowed, its soft, round form morphing in the light.

Its shape grew larger, firmer. Arms sprouted—vine-like, sturdy. Its stubby feet stretched out, gaining balance and speed.

The leafy top vanished, replaced by four pale-brown sepals and four reddish-brown flower buds dotted with specks. Its eyes drooped into sleepy slits. Its mouth turned into plump, purple lips that glistened with sweet—though slightly gross—nectar.

Gloom had arrived.

It wasn't traditionally "cute." But in its sleepy, drooly way, it had an odd sort of charm.

The chat blew up again:

"OMG! First time seeing an Oddish evolve LIVE!""That sausage mouth tho 😂 kinda adorable?""Wouldn't get too close to that mouth though…""This stream is GOLD! I'm addicted!"

The viewer count surged—100, then 150, and climbing.

For a new streamer, this was big. Lovy could feel it.He was in.

But of course, the troll had to strike again:

JustHereToContradict:"Perfect! Now we'll see the streamer's BS exposed. Gloom not smelly? Pfft! If this one doesn't reek, I'll DRINK its nectar on stream!"

NutritionalYarn:"Bro, stop trying to scam free drinks!"

SpringIsHere:"Actually, Gloom's nectar is really nutritious. Smells bad, tastes great!"

Lovy couldn't help but laugh. The chat was alive—and even the troll was adding to the fun, indirectly.

But JustHereToContradict… he was Lovy's target now. He had to win this.

No logging off until the troll cracked.

Meanwhile, on-screen, Miss Carrot approached the newly evolved Gloom—nervous, excited, terrified. This was the moment of truth.

She slowly removed the tissue from her nose… and froze.

Then—shock, joy, disbelief.

"It's true… IT'S REALLY NOT THAT BAD!"

"Oh my gosh—I'm crying again!"

She tilted her head back, trying to hold back the tears. But they came anyway.

Did she ever really hate Oddish?

Of course not.

She never gave up on it, even when she thought she should. She moved out of the dorm. She kept searching. She believed.

She hugged her Gloom tightly."I'm so sorry. I shouldn't have doubted you. You're amazing. I just didn't see it."

Gloom hugged her back with those odd little arms and gave her a comforting pat.

It was a small, goofy moment—but viewers felt it.

"I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!""Put this on the New Year Gala! It's too wholesome!""Thank you, streamer. Thank you, Miss Carrot. My cold dead heart is warm again.""Bro… I think my eyes got hit by an Iron Rhydon…"

Lovy didn't say anything—he just nodded and clapped.

But one person still refused to believe:

JustHereToContradict:"What's so touching about this? It's fake. All an act. Doesn't prove anything. That Gloom has to smell. You're all idiots!"

But this time, the audience had had enough.

NutritionalYarn:"Streamer, just block this guy. He's a rabid Growlithe at this point."

SpringIsHere:"Tsk. Youth these days…"

Other viewers joined in:

"Wow, you're so smart. Must be lonely at the top!""This guy's brain got sliced in a PokeDiscount deal!""Even his username's annoying. What a clown!"

Lovy looked at the comment flood—all roasting JustHereToContradict.

And for the first time tonight…

He smiled dangerously.
