CHAPTER 1
" Dear diary, it's another day to start afresh, it's a new dawn, as they say things or events happen to make one learn and grow and we have to forget the past to embrace the future. My dad would always say " A see saw has two sides, when two people sit on it, one side appreciates and the other side depreciates and in a blink of an eye, the narrative changes. That's how life is, nothing is permanent, no matter the situation there's always a solution. There's always the difficult problem and the easy one, it depends on how to handle both ". What I have learnt so far has helped a lot mentally and psychologically, men are truly animals, they are unpredictable and bent on pursuing self desires. Each time I thought that there were still good men in this crazy world but I was totally wrong, all men are the same, they are maniacs. I lost my purpose in life by chasing after love but clearly love didn't chase after me. I couldn't build on the legacy my dad passed on to me, but not anymore, it's high time I pursue my goals and hold my head high. No more distractions, it's a new beginning and a new day to begin new things. The past is the past and I have moved on, it's time to embrace the present and look forward to the future ".Mirabel closes her diary, she rests her head on her lap but is immediately aroused by the sound of the doorbell. " nanny, please get the door…" " okay dear ", her nanny replies. On opening the door she sees Annabelle, Mirabel's bosom friend. She's averagely tall, fair skinned , beautiful and single. " good morning, is Mirabel awake..", " oh yes she is, I will tell her that you are here " says nanny . she ( nanny ) takes Annabelle to the sofa and quickly goes to Mirabel's room. " it's Annabelle , she's here to see you "Mirabel rises from her bed and goes to the parlor. The two friends embrace each other as if they haven't each other for years. " Mira, how are you doing, it's been a while, I have been trying to call but you weren't responding, are you okay….., "" calm down, let's sit and talk …." Mirabel interrupts urging her to sit .The two friends sit and without wasting time, Annabelle moves close to her, she holds her hands and looks her in the eye " you can confide in me, what happened, are you feeling alright…." Says Annabelle in a low and concern tone.Mirabel sighs, her mind drenched with thoughts , " I.. I just wanted to stay alone for a while …"" don't lie to me , I know something is wrong….." says Annabelle putting her arm around Mirabel's shoulders. " well.., you were right… " says Mirabel, her voice shaking, " he wasn't the right one for me , belle Charles was a scam, he … he dumped me..." Mirabel sobs, resting her head on her friends lap. " oh my goodness, what happened, I never really liked him but I thought he ….., what went wrong.., how did it happen….." Annabelle inquires , gently stroking her long brown hair which complemented her fair skin. She raises Mirabel's head and gently wipes her tears, " Mira, speak to me…."Mirabel organizes herself as she prepares to narrate what transpired between her and her lover Charles. " it all happened last two weeks, I wanted to give him a surprise visit, I wanted to spend the night over at his place, I wanted to fulfill his wishes, I wanted to do something I have never done before, I just wanted him to be happy, Belle I loved him a great deal…." She pauses for a while as her emotions got the better of her. " on getting to his apartment, I knocked on his door but I got no response, I waited a while then I noticed the door wasn't shut, so I entered and went straight to his bedroom. Belle, I…I saw him in bed with another woman, he was in bed with another woman Belle, I saw him …..", this time she couldn't control herself, she bursts into heartfelt tears, he once glamorous face turned pale, she wept sore. " Girl listen to me…." Says Annabelle as she comforts her friend, wiping off her tears with her hands, " you always tell me that things happen for a reason, am sure and as I said earlier when you met him, I knew he wasn't the man for you….."" is there truly a man for me…" Mirabel asks, looking into Annabelle's eyes. " I'm sure there is , Mira …., what did that bitch tell you when he saw you …."" did he even notice anyone's presence, he was so engrossed in what he was doing that hardly looked away from the woman he was with. I had to drag him out of the bed, even at that his eyes were still on the lady's body. I left in anger Belle, I could not stay in the same room with him any longer…., I went back after three days to confront him but he wasn't there….., I searched and searched but he was nowhere to be seen….." says Mirabel, her eyes still soaked with tears . " just forget him…, he's gone and I hope and pray you two never meet again. Look , you are beautiful, elegant and smart, I am sure there's someone for you, he's going to love you and not your wealth or beauty but your personality….."" no Belle…" says Mirabel, wiping her teary eyes, " I have had enough of them, they all the same, Charles has successfully shattered the little hope I had in true love, he has broken me, my heart and even my company, belle I spent millions just to make him happy... ( She pauses for a while ) I just wanted him to be happy but he ... " She stops talking, her eyes soaked with tears once more.
" Look... " Says Annabelle placing her right hand on Mirabel's shoulder." Charles was bad but that doesn't mean you should give up on love, trust me love is an amazing feeling that everyone wants to experience,you just haven't met the one for you.... "
" Belle there's no one for me, love is just a mere word, there's nothing special attached to it, infact I believe love is a distraction, if I wasn't so keen on finding love I would gone far, belle my dad's company is failing, love has brought me and the company to a point that, recovery is arguably impossible..., I'm done belle, I am done, I just wanna find my groove and get back on track, I am dead to love and love is dead to me. "
" Mirabel believe me , I understand your point but I still believe you should still keep your heart open to love... You
.. "
" Belle, I said I am done... " Mirabel interrupts sharply. She takes a deep breath and holds her friends hands tightly, " please I really need your support ...".
" Fine..., I believe you've made your decision but just know that I am always with you .... " Says Annabelle, her words reassuring Mirabel, it was the motivational words she desperately needed.
" Thank you belle...." Says Mirabel, her voice loud and lively.
Nanny enters the sitting room and is instantly overwhelmed with emotions seeing the two friends , " seeing you two makes me wanna cry and go back go the days when I was in school..., I and my girl Stacy would always , you know party and stuff.... "
" Nanny I thought you told me you didn't make any friends when you were in school... " Says Mirabel
" Yeah I did but I never said I did not have imaginary friends... "
Nanny replies , her response is followed by laughter from Annabelle and Mirabel.
" Mirabel, this happy side fits you, I pray it renains like this... " Says Annabelle
" Yes it will, this is a new beginning for me and I promise to always remain happy..... " Says Mirabel with broad smile on her face.
" Okay, since the chatting and emotional discussions are over, Annabelle what will you like to have... " Says Nanny , " thanks but I have decided to take Mirabel out for a treat..., If she's willing... " Says Annabelle, giving Mirabel a stern look.
" Yes ma, I will quickly go and freshen up ... " Mirabel replies and immediately leaves the sitting room.
As Annabelle waits , nanny entertained her with hilarious stories of her childhood , she giggled uncontrollably as nanny recounted her mischievous escapades as a child.
