Chapter 162 - "161: Mist Space, Fiamma of the Right Ritual, Light of the Right"

After returning from the Netherworld, Su Mo appeared once again at the rim of Mount Vesuvius. He pulled out his phone and contacted Liliana and Erica.

By now, the sun was setting. It was already evening, and returning to Sardinia at this hour would be too much of a hassle. He decided he might as well stay here for the night.

Erica had only just arrived at the local magic association when she received Su Mo's call. She had been planning to inform the local mages that a battle between a Campione and a heretic god might take place nearby. But over the phone, Su Mo casually informed her that the heretic god had already been defeated.

"…"

Her mind went completely blank.

Was something this absurd even possible?

Then again, considering who her liege was—it was Su Mo, after all.

This kind of absurdity was par for the course.

After checking in with him and confirming that aside from the ruins deep in the uninhabited zone being destroyed, the city itself had suffered no damage, Erica finally breathed a sigh of relief. Once again, she gained a whole new appreciation for Su Mo's bottomless strength.

—He hadn't even transformed into the Giant of Light this time!

Even without that overwhelming form, he managed to take down a rogue god without stirring a ripple. Truly worthy of being her master.

After confirming everything was safe, she promptly arranged accommodations nearby and set off for Mount Vesuvius to reunite with Su Mo and Liliana.

Erica was indeed the most considerate of housekeepers.

Not long after informing her, Su Mo was comfortably reclining inside the palace, waiting for dinner. During that time, he entered the Mist Space.

….…

....

Once inside the Mist Space, 'Campione Su Mo' noticed that the number of "Su Mos" had increased by two. But these weren't new faces—they were the familiar Su Mo from the Toaru Majutsu no Index world and the Su Mo from the Danmachi world.

Naturally, upon meeting, the three Su Mos casually high-fived like old friends. It was only then that Campione Su Mo noticed something new.

"So you actually managed to obtain the Execution of Light Ritual? That's some seriously good stuff!"

A technique capable of reversing priority and granting you a natural advantage over your opponent—it was immensely useful even for a Campione.

"If I'd had that power earlier, I could've ended Perseus in under a minute!"

Even if the opponent was a steel hero god, it wouldn't have mattered. With the Execution of Light Ritual, the tables would have been turned. Instead of being countered, he would've been the one doing the countering.

Hearing that, the Su Mo from the Index world finally noticed the new power within himself.

"Perseus—so he was the one you just defeated?"

Once he realized which god it had been, a spark of interest lit up in his eyes.

"Mithra, the Aryan sun god. Although he was later absorbed into the Persian Zoroastrian faith as an important deity, originally, Mithra was the supreme god worshiped by the Mithraic Mysteries."

"That cult was once extremely popular in Rome. In fact, Christmas itself was originally Mithra's birthday—not the Son of God's."

In the Bible, the birth date of Jesus was never definitively recorded. The decision to celebrate it on December 25th was more about co-opting local traditions and redirecting worship.

After all, the pleasure-loving Romans didn't care which god they worshipped, as long as they could feast and party during the holidays.

"If I use that as a foundation… I might be able to construct an interesting spell."

The Index Su Mo's eyes grew brighter the longer he thought. After a moment of contemplation, he murmured:

"Hmm… I think I might have a lead on the spell structure for Fiamma of the Right."

The other two Su Mos immediately perked up and leaned in, staring at him with surprise.

"You serious?"

The two newcomers didn't understand the reason for their excitement at first. But after briefly recalling the data on God's Right Seat, they instantly understood.

"What?! You mean you might actually be able to replicate that technique?!"

Now they were just as stunned and quickly gathered around the Index Su Mo in awe.

There were four techniques belonging to the members of God's Right Seat: Vento of the Front, Acqua of the Back, Terra of the Left, and Fiamma of the Right.

Due to compatibility issues, Su Mo had only been able to obtain the Left-Hand technique—Execution of Light Ritual. The others were all inaccessible.

That one ritual alone had already been a huge surprise. As a perfect support technique, its practicality rivalled—if not exceeded—that of divine authorities.

However, compared to the Fiamma of the Right's ritual, even Execution of Light Ritual felt insignificant.

In the original work, the Fiamma of the Right was a mystery. He had near-unbeatable power in the early stages. No matter who the enemy was, his "Holy Right" could generate power greater than theirs and crush them. Theoretically, it had no counters.

The stronger the enemy, the more power the Holy Right would produce.

It was essentially a cheat code.

But the truth was—

The most terrifying thing wasn't the spell itself. It was the user.

He was born with the power to save the world. That was the real reason he could wield such overwhelming force.

The "Holy Right" wasn't a product of the Right Seat ritual—it was the personal power of the Fiamma of the Right himself.

That's why, throughout the ages, only he had ever surpassed the Pope within God's Right Seat.

Anyone else who acquired the same ritual would never have the same level of power.

Still, even without being a chosen one, the ritual of Fiamma of the Right was undeniably extraordinary.

After all, it was the technique of Michael the Archangel—God's Right Hand.

From both a mythological and hierarchical perspective, Michael's techniques were second to none.

It was only after obtaining the ritual blueprints of the Right Seat that Su Mo finally understood the spell's true nature.

Hence their shock.

This was the ritual of Michael the Archangel himself—known as:

[Light of the Right].

The origin of the Light of the Right ritual could be traced to the Dead Sea Scrolls—the war between the Sons of Light and the Sons of Darkness.

In that epic battle, Michael, as the vice-king of Heaven and Lord of Light, led the angelic host against Belial's army of darkness. The battle lasted forty years. The first three were victories for the Light; the next three for the Dark.

In the final clash, Yahweh Himself intervened, granting Michael divine light, which he used to finally defeat the Dark Lord.

From that moment onward, Michael's supremacy over all other angels became unquestioned.

At times, he even appeared to stand on equal footing with God.

This divine light that vanquished darkness—was eventually woven into a spell:

[Light of the Right].

The power of this ritual was simple yet terrifying.

Its true form was the orange-red blade that the Fiamma of the Right wielded repeatedly.

As for its effect—it adjusted its power automatically based on the strength of the opponent, always scaling to a level just sufficient to annihilate the enemy.

As long as the user had enough mana, the sword's power had no upper limit.

The stronger the enemy, the more powerful the light blade became.

This inevitably superior force was the key to why Michael could defeat the Lord of Darkness.

Fiamma of the Right, who possessed world-saving strength but lacked the means to harness it, could finally unleash part of his potential through the Light of the Right.

In essence, this ritual functioned as the "controller" for the power of the Holy Right.

His later schemes—including the Third World War and manipulating global malice—were all built upon this ritual's foundation.

To put it simply—

[Light of the Right] was the ultimate attack spell.

No matter who you were facing—

As long as you had enough mana—

The light blade of Light of the Right would always exceed your opponent in power and strike them down in a single blow.

This ritual was the very definition of a leapfrog-killing technique.

Of course, the drawbacks were equally apparent.

—The magic consumption was simply too great.

Only someone like Fiamma of the Right, who was born with the innate ability of the "Holy Right," could afford to ignore the magical costs altogether. Regardless of the opponent, he could unleash power far beyond their level.

As for ordinary magicians—

While they could also activate the [Light of the Right] spell formation, its power was capped due to the limitations of the caster's internal magic. Worse still, if one pushed the spell to its upper limit, a single strike from [Light of the Right] would be enough to completely drain all of the caster's magical energy, leaving them utterly defenceless—a lamb to the slaughter.

So, in every sense, a spell like [Light of the Right] was not suitable for regular combat. It was a finishing move, meant to deliver a decisive blow—after which a swift retreat was essential.

And yet, the very fact that it was so troublesome only further proved how powerful the spell truly was. As long as the magical supply could support it, no matter how formidable the enemy, they could be annihilated.

For many versions of Su Mo across different worlds, this was a skill capable of altering critical fate.

If they truly could master this technique, then the likes of Gatanothor from the Tiga world, Acnologia from the Fairy Tail world, and even the King of the End from the Campione world…

…these final bosses would amount to nothing more than one-hit targets.

Thus, the significance was immense.

"..."

Seeing the others' serious expressions, the Su Mo from the Index world understood their excitement but also found it slightly exasperating.

"I only said I've found a lead. To actually construct it successfully, we're still lacking a lot of the required knowledge."

"This spell is entirely different from the Execution of Light. I need to study it carefully."

With Mithra and the concept of the Child of God overlapping, Su Mo could gain the attributes of a Child of God. And since in Christian theology, the term "Child of God" often overlaps with the name Michael, he could, by extension, obtain the nature of Archangel Michael.

If the spell formation could be structured along those lines, Su Mo could automatically gain Michael's attributes, granting him eligibility to use the [Light of the Right] spell.

While theoretically feasible, the approach was extremely convoluted. Filling in all the gaps would require an immense amount of supplementary knowledge.

This wasn't something that could be accomplished overnight.
