Katherine blinked her lashes a bit flustered about what her father said. Was he denying his hands wn daughter justice?
"Katherine, how could you possibly ask of such a thing from father? Don't you know that could ruin our reputation? Daisy feigned.
Katherine didn't see anything wrong with what she had asked for. It was the least that could be done to reimburse her for all what she had gone through.
"Listen to me carefully Katherine, this discussion began in this room and it also ends here. You will not say a word about this to anyone, and you will definitely not be getting that justice you asked for, do you understand? Mr Anderson's body trembled violently as he spoke.
He gazed at his daughter in disdain, what would he tell his associates and friends if they asked why his eldest daughter got involved in a police case. He had all the resources he needed but he would never risk his reputation and all what his had built over the years.
Katherine gazed at her father looking dazed, for a moment she wished the ground could just open and swallow her.
Wasn't this the same man who had promised her the heavens and the earth.
"I will get you engaged to the most powerful family in the country." She lucidly remembered these words the day she had shown her parents her certificate. She graduated from Harvard university as a scholar in business administration. A first class graduate, her parents were overjoyed.
They made a lot of promises to her, but those were mere lies.
"Father, why are you doing this? I understand that you are angry with me, but what you are demonstrating right now is nothing but wickedness.
"How could you say I won't get the justice I deserve, unless you die? A tear dropped down from Katherine's eyes, her thoughts were in a whirlwind as she began to wonder how she ended up with such a selfish family.
She didn't even want any of this, she didn't want to be the heiress to the family business, she had her own dreams.
She wanted to be her own boss, to build and own a fashion enterprise and to Walk the runway of top modelling industries. All she has ever wanted to be her father hated it. He rebuked her firmly and warned her never to mention it.
Daisy here had a contraband certificate as a doctor but she was reaching the milestone as a actress. Her father never rebuked Daisy, why was her case different?
But still, she decided to make her parents proud, she paused her dreams and came back to reality. She wanted nothing but to make her parents happy, she had placed them first, and now they were turning their backs on her.
"You really think I would put all I have accomplished at stake for your foolishness? Mr Anderson rised to his feet. The air around him seemed to be tensed, his firm and strict countenance screamed ruthlessly.
Katherine was still on her kneels, she thought by staying that way her parents will understand how sorry she was but she was wrong.
"If you won't give me the justice I deserve, then I will get it myself." Katherine said, standing up to her feet. Her eyes were sunken and red from crying too much. Her face looked lifeless, her weak and fragile structure couldn't take another fatal stress.
"I have always tried to be a good daughter, like a paupet I followed every of your orders. I defiled myself will and did all you asked of me. Yet here I stand pleading with you…." Katherine didn't know when she started crying.
Everything was too much to take in all at once.
If anyone had ever told her that she would be treayed this way by her own family she would never have believed it.
"If you even dare go against by orders by reporting the case to the police, mark my words Katie I will disown you? Mr Anderson's body violently shook like a volcano that was about to erupt.
At this point Katherine wasn't moved by his empty threat, she had lost the will to live, perhaps once she was out of this place she would go ahead and jump off a cliff, or maybe hang herself, she would do anything to escape this miserable nightmare!
Mrs Anderson saw that her husband was going too far. Of cause she was angry that her daughter couldn't keep herself, but she was still her daughter, nothing could change that.
Blood is indeed thicker than water, no matter what Katherine was still one of them, disowning her now meant severing everything that stands with being a family.
Katherine gazed at her mother one last time, she could see it, that fear. Her mother was never able to go against her father's word, it was at this moment she realized this.
It was always, "of course darling", "Why not dear", it was never a no, and that was what had kept their marriage together. Any wrong statement from her and it would collapse like a tumbling castle.
"Katherine wiped her tears away, "If you have to disown me because I want to do what is absolutely right, then so be it." Her words stunned Mr Anderson.
He had said that just to threaten her thinking she would get frightened and quickly succumb to his will, but here she was refuting him.
"You open your mouth to blabber such nonsense! You are the most ungrateful daughter I have ever seen." Daisy who had been quite all this time decided to fuel the fire that was brewing in her father's hearth. She was at cloud nine, her heart yearned for this to happen and now it was happening before her very eyes.
She couldn't let this opportunity slip by…. "Katherine apologize to father." Daisy said eyeing her scornfully, the reason why she had said that was because she saw the thin chance of that happening. If her sister saw nothing wrong with what she had asked, then she won't apologize, and she was right.
"Apologize? Katherine scoffed. "I would rather go and hang myself!! Her body was quaking as she turned around and dragged herself towards the Mansion exit door.
"Katherine I command you to come back right now! Her father voice shrilled from behind her but Katherine kept walking away, what good was it living with a family that only have their interest at heart.
They didn't care about her, they have never loved her, they only used her! Katherine was furious, she was devastated, but most of all she was disappointed.
"Katherine Anderson! Her father suddenly called out her full name. Katherine halted in her tracks. She knew what the old man wanted to say won't be good. He had just called out her full name, he was at the apex of his anger.
"You are never to step foot in this house again, all your assets will be withdrawn from you…I Harry Kerone Anderson disown you!
Katherine batted her lashes and smiled bitterly, he did it. He really has disowned her, she was no longer apart of the Anderson family.
