Chapter 1 - The Release

It was the last day. Tomorrow would be a brand-new day for both Max and the world. The start of a new era for all people across the world. After 5 years of waiting, Genesis, the world's first 100% immersive VRMMORPG, was about to be released.

Genesis was a game based heavily on luck. The character's future potential would be based on the talent they rolled at the start, with the talents going from F - SSS

The chances of each talent were:

[F - 42.0000008999]

[E - 33.000989%]

[D - 17.098%]

[C - 7.6%]

[B - 0.3%]

[A - 0.001%]

[S - 0.00001%]

[SS - 0.0000001%]

[SSS - 0.0000000001%]

SSS talents were so rare that even the developer, CyberCorp, sent out an official statement that said they predicted for no one to be able to get one.

Max would be overjoyed to even get a B-ranked talent and anything above that was just a pipe dream for him.

He scrolled through the forums, trying to make sure he would be prepared for the game instead of cluelessly wandering around and found a few posts that seemed important.

[The talent you roll at the start will stick with you forever.]

[Choose you're class wisely based on your talent. Don't try to be 'different' and choose a warrior when given a talent to increase your mana.]

These types of advice were being spread all around the world, and Max engraved it in his heart to only choose his class based on the talent he received.

In Genesis, there was no system of having multiple alt accounts. Each person had one account for their identity and there were multiple measures in place to make sure no one could fool them.

This meant that bad luck at the start led to sticking with it for the rest of your life.

While Max hoped for a mage-type talent, maybe one that increased his mana, he was fine with anything else, too.

His parents then called, "Max, come down here. The Capsule finally arrived"

Max was a handsome black haired 18 year old, with light skin. He was from a rich family and had an entire fan club dedicated to him in school.

Max was an orphan. He was found at the doorstep of an orphanage and was raised there until his parents adopted him. They hadn't treated him as anything different to a biological son, and he was always grateful to them.

He rushed down the stairs and found a giant, sleek, metal pod with CyberCorp's stamp on it.

With the Capsule are 2 workers with the CyberCorp uniform

"Hi, we're here to connect your Basic VR Capsule and for the quality assessment."

Max was trembling with excitement and holding it all in, he barely managed to say, "Of course, please come inside and do everything you need."

The workers completed their duties within 1 hour, and it was ready and raring to go.

Max went inside to get a feel for it and couldn't believe it when he was almost transported into another world with nothing but a white background and a big timer facing him.

The timer read: [2:23:41] and was counting down until noon.

He decided to complete a few exercises so that the avatar would feel more in sync with his body when he starts playing, doing a few push-ups, sit-ups and squats.

Once he is satisfied with his training, Max decides to exit the Capsule, saying that there is no problem with the game and thanks the workers.

After the CyberCorp employees left, Max goes up to his parents and warns, "I probably won't get outside the game for the whole night, so make sure to have dinner without me."

His dad responds with, "Don't worry, son, play for as long as you want until you're satisfied"

"But make sure to take care of your health," his mom chips in.

Max pulls his phone out and starts texting his friends about how he just received his pod. His friends express their excitement to start playing with each other and share their knowledge and tips.

[You know, I heard that if you fulfil special criteria, you can unlock hidden classes, which are much better than normal ones.]

[Oh yeah, I heard that too. It's really rare and hard, though. It's said to be almost as rare as an S-rank talent to even get a chance for one, not to mention the difficulty of actually having one.]

While talking and sharing knowledge with his friends, time flies by quickly for Max with an increase in his knowledge about the game.

He goes into the capsule and looks at the timer.

[00:02:31]

There are only 2 minutes left until Genesis starts, and Max could barely hold himself.

Soon, the timer goes down.

3 seconds. 2 seconds. 1 second.

Whoosh

Max found the timer gone and instead faced a block of text.

[Please insert name - ___ ]

Max thinks for a while before finally deciding.

[Please insert name - Arcane ]

After pressing the Confirm button, a new, more important screen appears in front of him.

[Would you like to roll your talent - 1 chance remaining]

[Yes/No](No will mean you will never have a talent)

Max prays to whatever god he could remember from the top of his head and selects [Yes].

'Oh Jesus, oh Vishnu, oh Zeus, oh Odin. Please give me a useful talent. Anything over C rank, please.'

[Talent Given]

[Congratulations, you have received the SSS-rank talent - Plunderer]
