Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Betrayal

"Roar!" The Demonic Wolf was wounded again by the twilight greatsword, its "Darkness" characteristics drawn by the convergence effect toward "Twilight." The Phoenix Ancestor further disrupted it with "Death" and "Door" authorities.

The Celestial Worthy's prior rejection of the Darkness authority had left the Demonic Wolf's control over it stagnant.

Yet it had to wield its secrecy authority to conceal itself, retreating into the historical mist with its history authority to buy time for stabilization.

But this time, it was interrupted. A crimson moon cast moonlight, and within its imperceptible core, a faint gate opened.

The gate, ethereal and hazy, bore mystical symbols, seemingly linked to the Spirit World.

It represented Sequence 3 "High Summoner" of the Moon pathway.

The gate parted, revealing the surreal Spirit World. An intangible aura rippled, connecting to a hidden corner.

A mist coalesced into a figure within the gate—Goddess of Misfortune Amanises.

The Dream Council's plans and reality's course inevitably diverged. The Dragon of Imagination sensed history's shift, and the Mysterious Lord's will stirred—uncontrollable variables. Yet all converged on their designated historical tide.

Thus, she arrived, summoned by Lilith.

She extended a hand, subtly disrupting the Demonic Wolf's secrecy authority, then unleashed her characteristics, using convergence to destabilize it further.

The Demonic Wolf's grasp on secrecy, already weakened, faltered visibly.

The ancient gods seized this pause.

A barrage of authorities rained on the Demonic Wolf, trapping it in the historical mist.

Amanises glanced coldly, then concealed herself, retreating from the battlefield.

Lilith, Aurmir, Soniathrym, and the Mutant King Kvastir charged into the lingering historical mist.

Other ancient gods, unwilling to be outdone, joined to "claim their share" of the wolf.

The mist churned as fierce battles erupted within, less about the Demonic Wolf and more about dividing the "meal."

The Demonic Wolf had no chance to recover; its end seemed certain.

But in an instant, Demon Monarch Farbauti roared, breaking free from the mist and fleeing.

A gate slammed open, the Phoenix shrieking as it escaped.

Likewise, the Dragon of Imagination's massive form flickered, vanishing from the battlefield.

As many struggled to comprehend the shift, an explosion transcended all, shaking the world.

Sound vanished, red light blazing across everything.

Only when the red light contracted did a piercing scream echo worldwide: "You betrayed me!"

It was Lilith, Ancestor of the Sanguine!

Boom!

The red light condensed to its limit, detonating within the historical mist.

The mist evaporated, radiating blinding light that could illuminate the Spirit World and Astral World.

"Roar!"

Agonized roars echoed from the explosion's core. Extraordinary beings hearing them lost control!

"Ah!" Giant King Aurmir plummeted, his giant body shattered. For an ancient god, this wasn't fatal, but the twilight aura unraveling on him was dire!

A twilight glow flashed, his flesh rapidly decaying, dissolving into the air.

A bolt of lightning shot away, far weaker than the world-splitting thunder before.

The Ancient Sun God emerged from his divine kingdom, standing atop the Astral World, gazing at the battlefield. He blocked the explosion's surge toward the barrier, which none could breach.

"Guh!" Angels regained composure, staring in awe at the explosion's epicenter.

The boundaries of reality, Spirit World, and Astral World blurred there. Space shattered, rules twisted, an unimaginable phenomena unfolding.

All angels and subordinate gods sensed something, none dared to move. Even the maddest knew three ancient gods remained in the storm's core.

They…

"Betrayal?" Did Lilith mean allies Aurmir or Soniathrym?

Had one, or both, clashed with her while dividing the Demonic Wolf, attacking her?

Only then would Lilith, in desperation, self-detonate to drag all down with her?!

Had Farbauti and others sensed the explosion and fled?

No one would lie with their life!

Angels and subordinate gods trembled, bowing their heads. The ancient gods' strife surpassed imagination, leaving them to await the outcome.

As the spatial storm and Spirit World-Astral anomalies subsided, all saw it.

Three ancient gods' bodies stood frozen in a storm of chaotic rules, time seemingly halted, captured like an oil painting in that instant.

A "new era," perhaps?

Sizzle!

In reverse secrecy, the goddess reappeared on the battlefield, a faint glow shielding her from the explosion's aftermath.

Crack!

Her black great scythe slashed as a crescent moon, striking the Demonic Wolf, severing its last hope of "miraculous" revival in the deep darkness.

The Demonic Wolf's massive body collapsed, its ancient god blood drenching Amanises, who absorbed all its Darkness authority.

But this wasn't all. Its disintegrating body unleashed a storm of extraordinary characteristics. The most vital, drawn by convergence, flew toward its cub, Antigonus.

Amanises glanced that way. Antigonus' fur bristled, its mind collapsing, overwhelmed by the urge to flee as far as possible!

It never imagined its ferocious, mighty father would fall, let alone that the final blow would come from Amanises, with whom it had decent ties!

The shock was unimaginable for a born mythical creature.

Yet a Sequence 1 Fool characteristic and the uniqueness, pulled by convergence, landed in its grasp.

In that moment, it felt as if its father's divine blade might descend upon it!

But the scene was too chaotic. Beyond the Demonic Wolf, the Mutant King and Sanguine Ancestor Lilith's bodies also disintegrated, their characteristics scattering worldwide, some falling to the Spirit World and Astral World, becoming monsters.

Amanises had no time to pursue the cub.

After seizing the characteristics and uniqueness, Antigonus dared not linger, leaping into the historical mist—a shadow it might never forget.
