Chapter 60 - Chapter 57: Affection

Robin didn't believe in love, just as Moscow didn't believe in tears.

During her years of fleeing, she had encountered men who expressed affection for her, but most of them were after her 80 million berry bounty.

In a way, this was a good thing because such individuals were usually easy to deal with.

If someone wasn't after the bounty, that was the worst-case scenario.

Because it meant they had greater ambitions!

For example, her impression of Caesar before this.

"As the boss, it's my duty to protect my subordinates, isn't it?"

When Robin first heard Caesar say he would protect her, she found it amusing and felt nothing else. She didn't take his words seriously at all, her mind solely focused on getting information about Saul from Caesar.

Then, without hesitation, Caesar told her that Saul was in Elbaf, the Land of Giants.

However, Caesar didn't know much about it, or perhaps he didn't want to reveal more?

After that, Caesar began talking about his ambition—to conquer the world and become the supreme emperor!

Yes, that's how it should be, that's how it ought to be!

This was the correct way for her partner to be.

An ambitious schemer, a conspirator…

Without a doubt, Caesar was exactly that kind of person.

And Robin was also prepared to face his threats and betrayal at any moment.

However, his reaction was somewhat unexpected.

Caesar seemed to have no interest in history, though it couldn't be ruled out that he was pretending to lower her guard.

But regardless, whether it was the Road Poneglyph or the ordinary Poneglyph in the castle, Caesar appeared to have no interest in either.

Later, she became Caesar's secretary, handling the affairs of Wano Country for him.

Robin found it incredible that this guy had actually become the de facto ruler of Wano Country in just a few months, and was even beloved by the people.

What surprised her even more was that Caesar demanded she train in Haki!

Unlike those who had promised to protect her in the past, Caesar set a strict rule on the very first day he settled her in: she had to master Haki, even if it was just Observation Haki.

"No one knows whether tomorrow or an accident will come first!"

"All the suffering in this world ultimately stems from a lack of strength!"

"Dignity lies in the edge of the sword, and truth is only within the range of cannons!"

Caesar always had a way of saying things that made people reflect deeply, and his little admirer Yamato faithfully recorded them.

After reading them, Robin found it quite interesting. She realized that Caesar might have received a high-quality education, and beyond that, he possessed a broad vision and foresight.

To put it into words, it was a way of thinking that transcended the limitations of the times.

This was intriguing…

So, Robin gladly accepted Caesar's advice.

Every day, aside from helping Caesar with administrative tasks, she trained with Yamato.

In her free time, she quietly enjoyed life—reading books, watering flowers, taking baths, or playing cards, setting off fireworks, and having late-night snacks with the two of them…

It was hard to believe that life could be so peaceful.

So peaceful that she unconsciously immersed herself in it, even briefly forgetting the path she had come from.

As for Caesar's ambition to conquer the world, Robin temporarily pushed it to the back of her mind.

After all... Caesar wasn't much of a threat.

He was too carefree!

Every day, he was either training or indulging in food and fun with Yamato.

If there was anything remotely negative, it was only the undisguised sense of aggression in his eyes when he looked at her.

Robin initially thought that was Caesar's ambition for the world, manifested through her as a survivor of Ohara.

However, the reality was far from what she had imagined...

This guy was simply lusting after her body!

Unbelievable!

A man with such grand ambitions had no interest in the history of the world but was instead fixated on her, a vessel of historical knowledge!

"Give me a chance?"

Listening to Caesar's probing tone and staring into those bright eyes filled with undisguised aggression, Robin felt a strange emotion welling up inside her, even as she found it amusing.

This was the first time someone had gone to such lengths not for the knowledge in her head but simply for her existence.

"Listen carefully, Robin!"

"Right now, you may be alone! But in the future! You will definitely find companions!"

"The sea is so vast! You will surely meet people who are willing to protect you!"

"There is no one in this world who is forever alone!!"

"Go find your companions!"

"They are waiting for you, Robin!"

"Live on... with them!!"

By the shores of Ohara, Saul's shouts still echoed in her ears.

As she gazed at the increasingly close young face, a warmth inexplicably surged in Robin's heart.

What a pity, Saul...

Compared to the companions you spoke of, it seems there's a little pervert eyeing me right now.

And I... seem to have no resistance.

In fact, I want to be gazed at by those eyes, to be embraced by those arms, to sink into that overwhelming sense of aggression that seems ready to devour me.

Even if he's deceiving me, so what?

I have nothing left to lose...

A faint warmth brushed her face, and Robin was surprised to find that Caesar's breath was sweet.

Or perhaps it was the sweetness of blood, light yet intoxicating, like a deadly poison slowly eroding her reason.

It wasn't until two nosy women, one tall and one short, with their bright, glistening eyes, curiously approached her that Robin snapped out of it.

She quickly pecked Caesar's cheek and, with a light laugh, escaped the embrace she had longed for.

Seeing Caesar's slightly disappointed expression, Robin smiled even more.

She suddenly found herself enjoying the thrill of teasing him, hoping he would maintain this ambiguous tension while secretly craving for him to dominate her completely.

It was a contradictory feeling, yet she reveled in it.

"Viola... Viola?"

"Huh? What is it?"

Yamato's voice pulled Robin out of her brief reverie.

Looking into those innocent, beautiful eyes, Robin felt an inexplicable sense of guilt.

Yamato beamed with a radiant smile: "This is the first time I've seen you and Caesar kiss!"

"Sorry..."

The fleeting sense of intimacy in her heart vanished instantly. Robin felt like a child who had stolen her best friend's favorite toy, and for a moment, she was at a loss.

"Huh? What's wrong?"

Yamato looked puzzled. "Don't you like Caesar?"

"I—"

Robin opened her mouth but found herself speechless.

She turned to look at Caesar, only to find him gazing at her with a playful expression, tinged with a hint of teasing and perhaps even a subtle threat, which stirred an indescribable thrill within her.

"I do like him…"

Robin's bright eyes turned back to Caesar, and she smiled warmly. "Whether it's Caesar, Yamato, or even Baby 5, I really like all of you!"

So…

It's truly wonderful to have met you all!
