At war

Jasmine's POV

"Jasmine! Jasmine!" my door was yanked open. I sat up in bed rubbing my eyes. What could it be this time?

"What mum?" I whined.

"Quick we have to leave the palace!"

"Why?" I leapt out of bed almost falling on the floor.

"Can't you see? It's on fire!" She dragged me out of my room and we ran towards the entrance. People were really running in all directions. I coughed countlessly. The fire was filling the whole place that it was getting harder to see what was before us. My heart pounded in my chest.

"Hey! Use my shawl and cover your nose Jasmine "mum pushed the cloth into my face as we struggled to reach the door. The once long distance to the gate I always admired as I walked around the palace irked me bad now. It seemed like it was longer than the river Nile.

When we got to the gate, the guards and maids were at the gate trying to get out too.

"Can't you open the gate?" A guard yelled.

"It's locked!" He replied.

"How can that be?" Another person said. They kept trying to open the door but it just wouldn't budge. "Push harder" the same guard yelled.

Mum slapped a hand on her mouth. Her eyes wide. It looked like she was about to cry. "Mum! Mum! What's it?' I turned to her.

She turned to me wiping a tear off her eyes. "It's the silver moon pack"

"What?" People around turned to her.

She looked around quietly. "My husband—

"He's the beta right?" An old man interrupted and mum nodded quickly.

"Jonathan left when he got a call" mum's voice was shaky. I could literally see the fear in her eyes. Her hands were cold and they shook like it was vibrating but, she still my hand. Tightly in hers.

"They had attacked and set some houses on fire" immediately what followed suit was the blast of and we all flinched.

"Oh my god we all are going to die" a robust woman who walked in the alpha's court announced.

"Shut up Anna with your non sense" mum spat. "We will get out of here alive" the murmurings increased as people talked and screamed.

They were still pulling at the door but it just wouldn't budge. I stared at my mum and swallowed. Her hands were shaking and I could imagine how crazy her heart was beating but there she was being hopeful. But what was there to hope for. The pack was on attack in the middle of the night. They were likely to win.

Another sound of silver bomb hit the roof and people began to scream. They were trying to run away from the door and pushed me, separating me from mum.

"Jasmine!" She yelled.

"Mum!" I screamed admits the chaos. I looked ahead, sideways but I couldn't see her.

"Jasmine!" I saw her. I she stretched her hands towards me but the more I tried to grab it, the harder it was. Suddenly someone pushed me and I lost my balance. By the time I tried to stand, I could find my mother.

"Mum!"

People were running away from the new fire on the roof. The Chandler was on fire. The roof was threatening to fall. I searched for her but I couldn't find her. The worst part? I hadn't still seen my mother.

"Mum can you hear me!" Tears began to drop from my eyes. Suddenly I felt my throat tightening. I couldn't breathe. It reminded me of the moment I was lost in the market and I couldn't find her.

"Mum where are you!" I cried out. Nobody cared about me. I was getting tossed around while I weaved through that crowd, looking for her. I was sobbing. Suddenly I felt a hand on my arm. I immediately turned and there she was. I grabbed her hands.

"Come on let's go" she yelled. This Time I held unto it. People wouldn't have to literally kill me to be separated from her again and that was what happened.

The next blast happened and it shook everywhere. People were coughing and smoke filled everywhere. Suddenly the door fell apart. I saw it.

"Mum the door is open!"

Immediately people began to move toward the exit. I held mums held like it was life and finally we left the palace.

We were presented to a burning pack. Everywhere was up in flames. People were scattered everywhere like leaves as they ran in all directions.

"Mum I know of an exit behind the wall" I togged her hands but she wouldn't move.

"What's wrong?" I looked down to find her leg with a deep wound.

"I can't walk with this" she groaned.

"I'll carry you, come on!"

"No... It's of no use"

"Why! Mum come on let's go"

She shook her head. "No it's too late, I wouldn't be able to make it. " I looked at her wound and tears pooled in my eyes.

"Now you go! Go be safe! Go find your father!"

I stared at her and I furious wiped tears off my eyes. "If I ever leave here, calm me a fool" I sat beside her on the floor.

"Jasmine!" She warned in that shaky voice that broke in the end. I just stared at her, frowning. Hot tears falling from my eyes.

"I'm not going!" I cried out as I wiped my roughly wiped my tears. Mum looked down at me and smiled sadly. And so she gave me her shawl to cover me from the cold.

We watched as people ran everywhere. I always thought about what my last moments would be and I never envisioned something like this. In all that chaos I closed my eyes and slept off.

The next thing I knew I was rudely shaken. I opened my eyes to find Dad.

"Dad!" I wrapped my arms around him. "Mum is woun— I turned to find her beside me. Her eyes were closed and when I touch her, she had already gone cold.
