...

Many years later, I finally understood that you are the only person I ever truly loved, and no one can replace you. Andrew.

"Katherine, did you just finish another big surgery?"

Katherine rubbed her aching neck. "Yeah, I just finished and I'm getting ready to go home and rest."

"Alright, Katherine, I'll go back to work now. You should get some good sleep."

Katherine smiled. "Okay."

As she picked up her phone to check the time, a news alert suddenly popped up.

She was going to swipe it away, but when she saw Andrew's name, her finger froze.

Andrew, her husband in name.

He had flown overseas the same afternoon they registered their marriage. It had been two years since then.

Katherine stared at the message for a while, then gave in and tapped on it.

The headline was eye-catching: "CEO of Xinyu Group spotted enjoying romantic candlelight dinner with popular actress Charlotte, wedding rumors spreading."

Katherine let out a cold smile and whispered, "Wedding rumors."

It wasn't the media's fault for writing like that. Only Andrew's family and she knew about their marriage. He had never made it public.

Katherine kept scrolling. From the background in the pictures, it was obvious Andrew treated Charlotte with care.

She didn't want to keep looking.

He married her only because his grandfather forced him. The first thing he ever said to her was, "Katherine, don't think I don't know what tricks you used to make Grandpa force me to marry you. I'm telling you now, I'll only give you the title of Mrs. Zhou. Don't expect anything else."

What did she even hope for?

Could hoping make something real?

Katherine turned off her phone. She didn't want to see anything about them anymore.

In the past two years, she had thought a lot. In the beginning, she had a little hope that he would come back soon.

Now, she didn't care anymore.

He never had feelings for her.

Katherine drove to the house they got after their wedding. In two years, she had barely come here.

She parked and walked in.

She opened the door, pressed the light switch, and stood there in the entryway looking at everything inside. Andrew probably had never even stepped into this place.

She came today only to get the marriage certificate.

Back then, she had returned here happily after getting the certificate. Then she left in disappointment. Two years had passed. It was time to end this meaningless marriage.

Katherine changed her shoes and walked upstairs to the bedroom. She opened the drawer and took out the marriage certificate. She opened it and looked at their only photo together.

"Andrew, since being married to me makes you so unhappy, I'll set you free."

At the same time, Andrew was cutting steak for Charlotte.

Charlotte looked at him and softly said, "Andrew, did you tell her that you're back?"

Andrew paused. "Who?"

"Katherine. Does she know you're back?"

Hearing that name, Andrew's face darkened. "Why bring her up? Just eat."

He handed her the steak. "Eat. After that, I'll drive you home."

Charlotte saw that he still didn't talk about divorcing Katherine. She felt disappointed.

The reason she returned to the country was to get him to divorce Katherine.

After getting the marriage certificate, Katherine drove back to her apartment. She had just done over ten hours of surgery and was completely exhausted.

Her stomach started to ache again, so she dragged herself into the kitchen and made a simple bowl of egg noodles.

Because of her work, she often had irregular meals. Over the years, it had caused stomach problems.

After eating the hot noodles, she finally felt a bit better.

She leaned back in her chair, planning to rest for a moment before cleaning up. Without realizing it, she fell asleep.

When she woke up again, she checked the time. It was already 11 at night.

She quickly washed the bowl and went upstairs to take a shower.

While drying her hair, she walked into the study, turned on the computer, and quickly typed a few lines. Then she picked up a pen and calmly signed her name at the bottom right.

She took a folder from the drawer and put the paper inside.

Andrew, since you love her so much, I'll let you have her.

Andrew took Charlotte back to her place. She saw that he had no intention of getting out of the car and said, "Andrew, don't you want to come up for a while?"

Andrew's face didn't change. "No. It's late. Get some rest."

A bit of sadness flashed in Charlotte's eyes. "Okay. See you tomorrow." She slowly closed the door.

Once the car door shut, Andrew spoke. "Drive."

Assistant Ryan started the engine and carefully asked, "Boss, where to?"

Andrew didn't answer directly. Instead, he asked, "Ryan, does she know I'm back?"

Ryan was confused. "Who?"

Andrew frowned and sounded annoyed. "Who else? Don't you know I'm talking about Katherine?"

Ryan pouted quietly in his heart. A husband who disappeared for two years, didn't call even once, and now suddenly wants to know if she knows he's back?

"Boss, I'm not sure if she knows. Should I call her?"

Andrew felt irritated. He opened his phone and saw many news stories about his return.

But even after hours had passed, there was still no message or greeting from Katherine.

"No need," he said coldly.

Ryan was surprised. He didn't know why his boss suddenly brought up his wife, but he could feel that Andrew was in a bad mood. So he stayed silent and just drove.

Andrew leaned back in his seat and closed his eyes.

The next morning, soft sunlight came through the glass window and gently fell on the bed.

Katherine turned over lazily and slowly opened her eyes.

She reached for her phone and squinted at the screen. It was almost 8.

She suddenly sat up and rushed into the bathroom to wash up.

In a hurry, she changed into clean clothes, grabbed her bag and the folder, and quickly went out.

Luckily, her apartment wasn't far from the hospital. It only took a few minutes by car.

She made it to work just in time.

As soon as she entered the office, a nurse came up quickly and said, "Doctor Katherine, the patient in bed 3 needs you to check on his recovery."

Katherine nodded, put the folder into her desk drawer, and said, "Okay, I'll be there right away."

She quickly put on her white coat and headed toward the patient's room.
