"Oh, Mira," Allen mumbled.
He quickly raised his hand the next second to grab Jasmine's hand, it looked like she was about to smack him on the head from behind.
Getting caught once again, Jasmine let out a sigh before rolling her eyes in annoyance.
"How do you always know?"
"Because you always make it obvious you're behind me."
Allen didn't say anything more to his sister, he just opened the door and walked into his room, shutting the door afterwards.
Jasmine could only scoff before retreating to her room which was just beside Allen's.
"You know you don't have to speak out loud to communicate with me," Mira said as soon as Allen locked the door. "People might think you're crazy if they see you."
"Really?"
"Yes, the tab on the top left, the "A" tab."
The stab interface immediately appeared in front of Allen at that moment and it didn't take him long to spot the tab.
The moment he spotted it, it was like his consciousness was instantly sucked into some kind of dark boundless space.
"Huh?"
He looked very confused as he looked around trying to figure out where he was.
Everything was a bit too absurd, yet it was true that this was really happening. If someone had told him about something like this yesterday, who would have told them to go get their brain checked and ask them if they had watched too many movies?
After looking around for quite a while and not being able to see anything, Allen began to walk around to see if he would find anything.
"Hello." He called out.
The message suddenly appeared in front of him causing him to jump back in fear.
"Mira?" He called after regaining his composure.
"Is this the method you were talking about?"
"Oh, that's pretty neat."
"Oh, I see."
Just after saying that, Allen suddenly found that he had regained control of his whole body once again.
'Mira?' He called in his thoughts.
'It really works.' He smiled.
She sounded somewhat annoyed so Allen decided to quickly change the topic. Of course, Mira heard his thoughts but she turned a deaf ear.
'So, how do I log out?'
'Disconnect?'
The moment that word left his lips, his consciousness was immediately drawn out from the admin space.
"Oh, I see."
He was aware of how to exit the space now so he had no qualms entering it again, this time to have a proper conversation with Mira.
'Mira?' He called as soon as he entered the space.
What Allen heard next left him quite confused, he could swear he heard her yawn and stretch just now.
Once again, Mira ignored the thoughts that she believed he would rather keep to himself.
'What is this pace system?'
'Why?'
While listening to her, Allen made his way to his bed and sat down.
'Since it's unbalanced, then what's the point of having a pace system?'
Allen understood the concept of systems; he had watched a lot of shows and read a lot of books growing up, so he understood how systems worked according to the novels, at least. So, his question to Mira was a reasonable one.
Mira couldn't help but scoff at his thoughts.
'Oh?'
'I'm still training up my stamina.'
'Will it….'
'How did you know what I was about to ask?'
'Oh.' Allen muttered before pursing his lips.
Listening to everything she had to say, Allen could only nod in response continuously.
'You get irritated quite easily.'
'No, you're just fine.' Allen smiled awkwardly. 'Anyway, I have to go now, later.'
He quickly logged out of the system space before sitting up on the bed.
Allen's room wasn't exactly a flashy one, but it was a boring one either and he kept it relatively clean.
The highlight of his room was the glass cabinet standing close to his wardrobe.
Inside the cabinet was a collection of all the jerseys he had been able to gather throughout the years. The jerseys of his favourite players.
There was one of Messi, Iniesta, Kevin De Brunye, Juninho, Xavi, Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Jamal Musiala.
Most of the players were retired, but somehow, he managed to get all their shirts.
Allen stood in front of the cabinet and admired his collection for a while before sliding his phone out of his pocket.
Just as he expected, the media was talking about his own goal and how they had let their Champions League spot slip into the hands of Chelsea.
There were also a lot of people blaming him online, but likewise, he had a good number of supporters calling out the haters for picking on a seventeen-year-old.
Allen had only joined the first team that season but just like most players his age, he had to spend most of his time on the bench.
He was naturally a midfielder, but a string of injuries forced the coach to move him to the left-back position.
It wasn't that hard to adjust to the position, especially when his team was on the attack, but having to deal with slippery wingers all the time was very exhausting, not to talk of the constant humiliations.
The youngster had so far played only seventeen games, only starting a few of them, and in all those games, he had managed to score two goals while providing five assists.
Those stats weren't really bad especially when putting into consideration that he was a young player playing out of position.
Allen seemed to have seen everything he wanted to see and was about to put away his phone when he spotted a headline.
'Jazirium once again crowned champion in Rapid strike zero control free for all.'
Just after reading that, Allen's gaze fell on the wall that would lead to his sister's room if there was a door there. Then he let out a snort before crashing down on his bed.
With his gaze now on the ceiling, he entered the system.
His physical stats were still the same as he had not done anything to improve them yet, but it wasn't like he needed to look at those as something else seemed to have caught his attention.
Just by the right was s tab labelled "S"
"S for what?"
Just as he said that the tab was immediately opened.
[ Sensory stats ]
[ Vision: 79 ]
[ Hearing: 68 ]
[ Smell: 71 ]
[ Sensitivity: 85 ]
[ Awareness: 95 ]
[ Memory: 97 ]
"Oh, I see. I didn't expect my awareness to be that high."
It looked like that was the only one that surprised him, even his memory, being that high in value, seemed normal to him.
"You don't know why you can always tell whenever your sister tries to sneak up on you?" Mira sounded genuinely puzzled.
"With how obvious she is, won't anyone be able to tell?"
"Ah…." Mira couldn't help but sigh in exasperation. "Unfortunately, your sensitivity doesn't match it so you might not be quick enough to react to certain situations even after detecting it ahead."
"The gap isn't that much though."
"Yeah, that's why I said certain situations."
