Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

BRITNEY'S POV

He carried me to a room, his strides purposeful and swift. He carefully laid me on the bed, his touch gentler than I expected.

I didn't know what to say to him, my mind raced with uncertainty. Should I apologize? Explain? Remain silent?

I didn't even know if I should say anything at all. His eyes flashed with anger and his jaw clenched.

As he towered over me, his gaze pierced through me as if searching for answers to the questions that filled his mind. I felt a shiver run through my spine under his intense scrutiny.

He walked to the telephone without saying anything and made a call.

"Call in Doctor El." I heard him say over the phone.

I wondered why he was calling a doctor, we werewolves heal quickly, and I could already feel my wounds closing, which was a painful, slow process for me. My healings are always excruciating and prolonged, unlike others of our kind.

After making the call, he turned and leaned against the table behind him. His eyes fixed intently on me. His gaze was like a weight pressing down on me as if he wanted to extract answers from me without uttering a single word.

I forced myself to speak, "uhm.. thank you." I said in a voice barely above a whisper.

He didn't respond, his expression only darkened. The silence between us grew heavier, thick with tension, and I wondered what he was thinking and what was holding him back from saying it.

"So why were you out there?" He suddenly asked, in a very low, menacing tone.

I stared at him, unable to comprehend the question or formulate a response. "uhm..well."

Just then, there was a knock on the door, interrupting the tense moment, and Doctor El walked in.

"Alpha, you sent for me," He greeted, his eyes scanned the room, taking the scene before him.

"Thanks for coming El." Alpha Jordyn responded, his voice still low and gravelly but slightly softer.

"I called you because my girl sustained some injuries during training." He blurted out, his words sending shockwaves through me.

'Girl? His girl?' my heart skipped a beat, my mind reeled with disbelief. Did he just publicly declare me as his girl? I thought our pretending was a private matter, a secret between us. Why would he announce it to the doctor?

Nobody wants to see an omega with an Alpha and he knows that. It's a recipe for disaster.

The doctor finished the treatment but didn't do anything serious, he just sterilized the already closing wounds, a cursory check-up at best.

"Is that all?" Jordyn asked the doctor, his tone hinting at something more.

El exhaled and turned to him, his expression was a mixture of frustration and amusement. "Jordyn you know how this works. You literally called me here for nothing." He shook his head, rolling his eyes in irritation

"Oh really?" Alpha Jordyn raised a brow, "So why are you the pack's doctor?" He said sarcastically.

El snorted, "Her injuries weren't very serious, she's fine now." He turned to leave, eager to escape the awkwardness. "I'll just.. uh go now." He dashed out of the door the moment he got a chance, leaving us alone once more.

In a few seconds, the room was silent again. The air became tighter, I stared at my hands, because I had nowhere else to look at. I couldn't bear to look up, fearful of what I might see in his eyes, but I could feel his gaze on me.

"So, you want to explain yourself?" He suddenly said, his voice breaking the silence.

I jerked my head up, startled, and met his piercing gaze. What did he mean by explaining myself? What could I possibly explain?

He must have seen the confusion on my face because he immediately added, "Whet are doing here?" He asked again.

I blinked a few times, trying to find the right answer. When I didn't answer him, he asked again, his voice rising in frustration. "What were you doing out there, fighting a wolf when you know clearly you do not have your wolf?" His eyes flashed with anger.

I opened my mouth to speak but my words caught in my throat, why was he angry at me? It was just training. And who does he think he is to raise his voice at me?

I felt a surge of displeasure and retorted, "It was just training, everybody there does it." I replied with a slightly stern voice, to let him know I didn't appreciate his tone.

But he wouldn't back down, "Just training?" He hissed, his eyes narrowing. "You got hurt, and you say it's just training?" His voice was coated with concern.

I took a deep breath and replied softly, trying not to sound rude. "Getting hurt is inevitable, besides, I'm not the one who put the rules that people should fight with their wolves." I glanced at him, my eyes locking with his.

He went silent for a few seconds as if pondering on what I had just said.

"You're my girlfriend, for now, so you can't get hurt."

The possessiveness in his tone sent a shiver down my spine. He took the pretending way more seriously than I thought. Is he trying to turn me into his personal plaything or what? The thought made my mind recoil in distaste

But still, I couldn't deny the effects his words had on me. The way he speaks.. It makes my pulse quicken, I can't help but feel a shiver every time. The way he carried me out of the arena, his soft and gentle touch on my skin, made me feel protected.

'Britney, snap out of it' My head suddenly screamed at me, pulling me back to reality. I shook my head, trying to clear those inappropriate thoughts. What was I thinking?

This was all a pretense, I couldn't let myself be caught up in his charms.
