Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Gathering at Loguetown

Fourteen years ago, after spending a year in this world, Kevin finally understood his situation—this wasn't a medieval world, but the world of One Piece.

That was when the maggots came.

God Valley—that was Kevin's birthplace. A place that no longer existed.

Among the people of God Valley, along with about 100,000 slaves brought by the Celestial Dragons, only 500 survived in the end—saved by Uncle Kuma.

A survival rate of just 0.5%. And yet, baby Kevin, only one year old at the time, was one of the few to make it out.

The reason? The Celestial Dragons chose the valley for their triennial "field trip," which turned out to be a horrific massacre—treating the residents and slaves as live prey in a deadly hunt.

That absurd reason alone was enough for the entire island to be wiped off the map. Erased.

If Aunt Ginny hadn't leaked the information two weeks in advance through a loophole...

If the arrival of the Rocks Pirates hadn't caused chaos...

If Uncle Kuma hadn't eaten the Paw-Paw Fruit in the nick of time…

Then Kevin probably wouldn't have survived. He would've been skewered by a long blade and labeled a "10-point target" in a bloody sport.

Bartholomew Kuma—the future Warlord of the Sea. After saving those 500 people from God Valley, he and Ginny raised Kevin in the Sorbet Kingdom of the South Blue.

To Kevin, those two were the most important people in his life.

And having read the latest One Piece chapter before transmigrating, Kevin knew their futures.

Ten years later, Ginny—by then the Eastern Army Commander of the Revolutionary Army—would be abducted by a Celestial Dragon.

She'd become a test subject for Saint Saturn, be infected with the incurable Sapphire Scale disease, and pass it on to the child she rescued from Mary Geoise... Jewelry Bonney.

From there, the tragedy would unfold.

But changing that future wouldn't be difficult—Kevin could either closely monitor Ginny or prevent the meetup that led to her capture altogether.

That is, if encountering the Celestial Dragons had been just a coincidence.

Back in God Valley, after eating the Paw-Paw Fruit, Kuma had a conversation with Saint Saturn.

Kevin didn't know how nine-year-old Kuma escaped after that.

The Sapphire Scale disease was caused by a specific experiment—there were still too many unknowns.

As dawn broke, a streak of yellow cloud flashed across the sky, racing back to Ruskapp Town.

Kevin's shadow clone had already returned to the dorm in the middle of the night and greeted people along the way as usual—nothing out of the ordinary.

After eating in the mess hall and checking in with Colonel Romi, he took a document and boarded a naval warship at the port.

Ruskapp Town wasn't far from the special sea route. While merchant ships needed to queue, the Marine didn't—and four days later, he arrived in Loguetown, beneath Reverse Mountain.

Four Days Later – Loguetown Port

The port was now jam-packed with warships.

Even though Gol D. Roger had surrendered, the World Government and Marines remained on highest alert for his execution.

So many people...

Curious onlookers, purposeful travelers, and patrols of marching Marines filled the streets—Loguetown had become the center of the world's attention.

Loguetown Marine Branch

After handing in the document, Kevin met one of Colonel Romi's connections—Vice Admiral Kuzan, wearing an eyepatch and sunglasses.

Quite the connection indeed...

With Admiral Zephyr currently serving as the elite instructor at HQ, and Kuzan being his peer, Kevin was essentially backed by two generations of future admirals.

"Kēwén (Kevin), right?"

"Present! Private First Class Kevin of the 80th Branch, West Blue."

Kuzan nodded. "Impressive presence. I heard you like executing pirates—and even volunteered to take part in Roger's execution. Mind telling me why?"

He set the file down and looked Kevin in the eyes. "You do realize Roger's other crew members haven't been caught. As the executioner, revenge is a real risk. This isn't some ragtag pirate gang from West Blue."

Kevin replied calmly, "If fear of the unknown is enough to hold me back... then none of my dead loved ones would rest in peace."

At those words, Kuzan looked up and studied the 15-year-old boy—recommended by a friend he trusted.

Bartholomew wasn't just some frog in a well from West Blue. If he called someone a monster, that person was worth evaluating.

Back in the elite class six years ago, only Kuzan himself had ever been considered a true "monster."

"I'm Kuzan," he said.

"Also, I've already submitted your nomination to serve as Roger's executioner. The execution is three days from now. I'll be staying on this island for another week after that."

Kevin looked at him, puzzled.

Kuzan added, "You've seen it—tons of people are in Loguetown to witness the execution. Mixed in are some big-name pirates—many of them strong."

"Roger's execution is meant to intimidate the rising tide of piracy. The higher-ups want them to watch. But that puts you in danger."

Once the execution was over, Kevin—a no-name Marine from the West Blue who executed the Pirate King—would become a target. Countless pirates would come for his head.

Kuzan wanted to see—could this so-called "monster" survive?

In his temporary lodging, Kevin stood at the window, staring at the street, deep in thought.

At 25 years old, Kuzan hadn't yet gone through the Ohara Buster Call. His sense of justice still burned bright—it hadn't turned lazy yet.

As for the Roger Pirates…

Rayleigh, Jabba… After learning the world's secrets at Laugh Tale, they had respected Roger's choice.

So after Roger's death, Kevin wouldn't be facing them—just the countless pirates looking to make a name for themselves.

More importantly, Roger's soul would be sent to Impel Down after death. To quickly extract his sin value, Kevin would need access to Cell Block One.

Calling it a "cell" was generous—"dormitory" might be more accurate.

Executing Roger wasn't just about the sin points—it was part of Kevin's larger plan.

And besides… Loguetown was currently teeming with incredible people.

Future Warlords. Yonko. The leader of the Revolutionary Army.

Dragon wouldn't be easy to find—and to be safe, Kevin's shadow clone had to stay visible.

"Time to go out for a walk."

Kevin packed his things and left the branch. After asking around about the biggest tavern in Loguetown, he headed straight for it.

When Kuzan learned Kevin's first move after settling in was to go drinking, he was left speechless.

This brat… did he not understand anything I just said?
