Chapter 3 - Disrupted Peace

"Helloooooo~ Ruby. Miss Ruby. Please answer."

Visio was standing In Front of Ruby's bed, waving his hand before her eyes.

"For a manifestation of my delusion, you really are annoying! Stop this! I'm trying to concentrate!"

She jumped slightly on her bed, kicking Visio in his face.

"..how brutal.."

Rubbing his nose, he sat down at the end of her bed.

"What are you concentrating on? You've just been staring at the wall for the past hour?"

"Shouldn't my own delusions at least know this much.."

She sighed.

"No well I keep telling you I'm not a delusion.."

"It's my hobby."

"Your..hobby?"

"Yeah."

"your hobby is to stare at a wall?"

"Of course not you idiot. Ugh..why am I even bothering to explain this to a delusion..maybe I really am insane.."

She held her head and slumped in bed.

"So..why are you staring at the wall so intently..?"

"Guess you won't shut up until I tell you..fine."

She resolved herself. Even if she looked insane talking to herself. She wanted to be done with this so she could go back to what she really enjoyed.

"I'm not staring. Staring is just to help me concentrate. I'm daydreaming."

"Wow! Now this is interesting! Daydreaming you say..!"

Visio seemed to grow excited at hearing this.

"Yeah well..they're technically daydreams but I like to call them delusions."

"D..delusions..?"

"Yeah just like you."

"Like me…"

He seemed dejected at being called a mere delusion.

What a strange and expression filled delusion, she thought to herself.

"So you're bothering me. Trying to concentrate. So be quiet please."

"Far be it for me to bother a master at her work. Please. Continue!"

"Mmm.."

She went back to staring at the wall, with him watching her intently.

An hour..

Two hours…

Three hours…

Four hours…

"No wait, how long are you just going to keep doing this!"

"Hah? Didn't I just tell you to be quiet..you're breaking my focus..I was right in the middle of a good one.."

"THAT WAS FOUR HOURS AGO!"

He desperately exclaimed. She had been staring at the wall nearly motionless. For almost four hours straight.

He was amazed at first. Watching someone being so good at daydreaming. But this was beyond what he expected.

How can a human sit and..do nothing. For hours?

At some point it looked like she had stopped breathing. But it was just that she was too still. It was frightening to see.

Is she not a zombie? Maybe she really was a zombie? Or maybe some kind of spirit like him?

"...are you sure you're human?"

He tentatively asked.

"What stupid things is this delusion of mine saying now.."

She yawned, her stomach growling and roaring loudly.

"Ugh..stupid stomach.."

"Why don't you go eat something?"

He suggested.

"No. You ate my dinner, remember?"

"You don't have anything else to eat?"

"I do."

"Why don't you eat that then?"

"Can't. That's tomorrow's dinner."

She looked at him as if he were an Imbecile.

"You only eat one time a day..?

"Yeah?"

"Uh okay..what about me then?"

"...what about you?"

She glared.

"I need food too..I get hungry too.."

"Can delusions even eat..no actually..you ate my dinner earlier..if you're a delusion..did I eat it unconsciously and imagine you doing it..? But then why am I so hungry..? I worked hard on fasting so my stomach would shrink and I wouldn't need more than a meal per day..how odd.."

Muttering to herself, she bit her nails.

Visio decided to play along in his role as her delusion.

"Doesn't this mean you're just a growing girl? You probably need more food than you think!"

"...I'm over thirty. I'm done growing."

"Nonsense! Humans never stop growing! They grow the more they eat! I've seen it in their dreams! The more they eat the wider they get."

Sharing this nugget of wisdom, he smiled at Ruby.

"...I wonder what this says about me if my delusions are this stupid..am I getting dumber.."

She sighed.

"Either way. Getting more meals means I have to..go outside. I carefully plan it so I don't have to go outside until my supplies run low..so once a month."

"You only leave your house once a month..? Why?"

"Don't like the outside. Too distracting."

Her stomach rumbled again as she said this.

"Well I think your stomach might disagree with your calculated rate of outings."

"...I know."

She rubbed her belly pitifully.

"Fine. I guess I can move up my trip and stock up on double the groceries..apparently my stomach wants two dinners per day..spoiled stomach.."

She poked her own stomach.

"Spoiled stomach~"

Visio poked her stomach along with her.

"...don't touch me."

His poke was reciprocated with two pokes two his eyes.

"OWWWW WHY. I COULD GO BLIND YOU KNOW. PLUS THAT'S SUPER RUDE AND HURTFUL. THAT REALLY HURTS MY FEELINGS!"

Rolling around on the ground and clutching his eyes, Visio cried out at the injustice.

"What do I care about the feelings of a fake delusion..hurry up and disappear already.."

Stepping over him she went to grab her jacket.
