Chapter 10 - Skillfully Breaking the Enemy

"Swish swish!!"

Watching Ning Tong attack again, Ming Tian continuously slashed out several Scorpion Claw Strikes to block Ning Tong's assault. Taking advantage, Ming Tian kicked backward, moving toward Yan's side.

From the stands, Meng Qianji noticed this and let out a soft "hmm."

"Huh, strange, something's not quite right."

"What is it?"

"That scorpion soul kid just used his first soul skill twice in a row, without stopping."

"So what does that prove?"

"It means his soul power is extremely abundant. But he's only a one-ring soul practitioner. Normally, using the first soul skill so many times would have exhausted his soul power long ago, yet he still shows no signs of fatigue. That's not the soul power a soul practitioner should have. Interesting."

As Meng Qianji spoke, his eyes turned purple, observing more closely.

"Big brother Yan, this isn't going to work. I have a plan."

Ming Tian came beside Yan and said.

"Oh? What's your idea?"

Ming Tian whispered something in Yan's ear. Yan nodded with a smile.

"Alright, I'll follow your lead. Swap opponents!"

Yan said, attacking Ning Tong, while Ming Tian's opponent switched to Gan Ling.

"Switched opponent? That won't help."

"Porcupine Arrow Sting!!!"

"Scorpion Claw Strike!!"

Facing the flying porcupine spikes, Ming Tian slashed out several attacks, looking strained as he retreated.

Gan Ling sneered when he saw this, certain Ming Tian was nearly out of soul power, and unhesitatingly pursued.

It was no surprise—almost everyone there thought so. The opponents had higher soul power, so even if it was a battle of attrition, Ming Tian and Yan were no match.

Meanwhile, Yan braved Ning Tong's attacks. With Flame Body empowered, he could block with his bare hands.

But even Yan was struggling. The Porcupine Ball kept pressing forward, pushing Yan step by step back, following the same retreat path as Ming Tian.

"Haha, you two might as well give up. Otherwise, the loss will be too embarrassing to face."

Gan Ling laughed, while Ming Tian shouted:

"We would never lose! Take this!"

With that, Ming Tian transformed his hands into scorpion claws, purple light blazing fiercely—like a final desperate strike.

Yet at the same time, Ming Tian's body retreated faster, moving closer to Yan.

"Hmph, your final strike? Then let me neutralize it."

Gan Ling said and released his first soul skill again.

"Porcupine Arrow Sting!!!!"

This strike was arguably his strongest yet—this time the arrow spikes were denser and much faster!

"Now, Big Brother Yan!"

Ming Tian yelled. Yan instantly released the porcupine ball he had been holding. The ball, already rolling forward, lost resistance and uncontrollably sped ahead due to inertia. Ming Tian and Yan dodged left and right, diverting from the attack path. The porcupine's arrow spikes collided with the porcupine ball.

"Bang bang bang!!!"

The porcupine's arrow spikes pierced the porcupine ball's spikes, and Ning Tong screamed in pain, canceling his soul skill.

"Ah, it hurts so much! Gan Ling, you were way too harsh!"

"How was I supposed to know these two kids would make our skills clash against each other?"

Gan Ling complained, surprised they had fallen for the trap.

While the two were injured, Ming Tian didn't waste time, following up with another powerful Scorpion Claw Strike—stronger than before.

In the stands, Meng Qianji exclaimed:

"This soul power? How is this possible?"

"His soul power isn't drained yet. This definitely isn't the soul power a one-ring soul practitioner should have."

Facing the even more powerful Scorpion Claw Strike, Gan Ling and Ning Tong could no longer attack. The referee promptly blocked the strike, looking at Yan and Ming Tian suspiciously.

"Soul Fight ended, the winners are the Yanling Duo!!"

The crowd erupted in cheers, followed by a loud collective shout.

"Yanling Duo wins their first match. Congratulations on becoming the youngest duo to achieve a victory at the Tianling Soul Fight Arena. Here are your gold soul coins."

The arena official handed Ming Tian and Yan badges and gave them ten gold soul coins.

"Here you go, thanks for your help this time! You're amazing! I've never fought so well before!"

"I'm claiming you as my brother now! From now on, stay by my side! We'll train together and dominate the big soul fight arena!"

"No way! If I hadn't met big brother Yan, I'd still be wandering somewhere."

Ming Tian said shyly.

"After fighting for so long, you must be hungry. Come, I'll take you to the best BBQ in the city. I just had lunch there."

"That's too much! You helped me earn money and gave me a place to stay. How can I let you pay? I have money now, I'll treat big brother Yan!"

"I don't want to always trouble big brother Yan either."

Ming Tian insisted, and finally Yan let him pay. They went to the BBQ place Yan mentioned—it was the same restaurant Ming Tian had visited before.

"Young Master Yan, you're here again! Welcome, welcome!"

The waiter came out and paused upon seeing Ming Tian.

"Haha, Boss Gan, I beat your son today. When Gan Ling comes back, take good care of him. This is my new brother, called Ming Tian."

"Oh, so you're the boss? I thought you were just a waiter."

"He likes to dress like this. He's so stingy he doesn't even hire waiters. This place is run by him and his brother Ning Sui—Ning Sui is Ning Tong's father."

"Huh? Ming Tian, you know Boss Gan?"

"So everyone's familiar. Boss Gan is a good guy."

Then Ming Tian told the story about Gan Ji. Gan Ji smiled sheepishly, and Yan looked displeased after hearing it.

"Boss Gan, you're so stingy, even dared to cheat my brother's money?"

Ming Tian was confused, so Yan explained.

"Hehe, fate brings us together. This meal's on me. From now on, you two get 40% off when you come."

Gan Ji said, preparing a full table of food. Both ate happily, and then Ming Tian followed Yan home.

Yan was now famous. Once home, many people came out to welcome their victorious young master.

Ming Tian followed behind Yan, feeling shy since no one recognized him. Suddenly, he felt that relying on others wasn't such a good thing.

Yan introduced Ming Tian to everyone. Suddenly, a sweet voice called out.

A little girl, about their age, ran out.

"Brother, you're back!"
