Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

Felix Blackthorne was rather a busy person, he had too much to manage and lead. The Blackthorne family had always been at the top but it was Felix who had expanded it beyond anyone who had imagined it. But for him it was his way to overcome the grief and block the pain he was going through. He knew that every waking moment hurt him too much, to the point where his life didn't matter to him , but he knew that his actions may hurt his mother and he didn't want that.

His father passed away leaving his mother alone. And he knew how much it pained her to live knowing he isn't around. Though their marriage has been arranged for the benefits of the family they had such deep love for each other which bloomed rather unexpectedly but grew to be so sweet. And they soon welcomed him and his brother into the family. They were coddled so much. And he knew he was blessed that he witnessed their bliss in life rather than enduring things in a dysfunctional family. Even though his family was rather broken after a while.

He had witnessed love from his parents, but he never thought much of it , or craved it. He rather thought that he was incapable of doing all the things his parents had. He knew he was a person who focuses so much on his intelligence, who lived very practically and thought too.

But every belief he held dear, everything he thought he wasn't capable of doing, he did. Life was mysterious and it made him fall so hard. Made him believe in love so hard that he had turned into a mad man. A mad man who was happy to do anything for her sake. For that beautiful smile of hers. He smiled a bit thinking about all the things he had done for her. Things he would still do, and a sad smile was hung on his face.

Just then Elias Whitlock entered his office. The Whitlock family wasn't that behind the Blackthorne family. Elias Whitlock was a really handsome man. He has toned his body so close to perfection and his hair was silky black that was a bit longer , he carried the air of mischievous but his eyes were sad and tired.

Felix and Elias were friends since they could remember and the bond they shared was strong. If he must say it was closer than his own brother. Felix wasn't a person who let his thoughts or his feelings out. But if anyone did know even a bit about it , it would be Elias.

He acknowledged his friend who had walked in, and he was a bit concerned about why he was here now. It was the peak of buisness hour and if he remembered right they planned no meeting prior.

Yang Jun soon recognised his friends concern.

"Nothing has happened that you aren't already aware of." He said immediately, and saw his friend's demure relax.

"But you know Aria's condition, and it's worrying me" Elias stated

" I am very well aware, and I am very well concerned and I'm sure I don't have to tell you the extent of it, but there is nothing that I can do. And I must say it is killing me" he was rather frustrated at this point , he had indeed planned to go to the hospital soon. It had been a while since he had been there, and he wanted to discuss of any thing that could help her.

" I know and I am not questioning that, I would never but I don't think the current doctors can help her, I know they are one of top specialists but I think we need the best " he said softly

Felix's eyebrows knit together as he wasn't exactly knowing where his friend was headed.

"What do you mean? Anyone you think who can help will be here, hurt say the name" in a voice that hoped his friend had an answer

" I am speaking about doctor F"

" You know we have tried to get him, he is so careful we have no knowledge about him not even his full name to search for him and his usual procedures didn't work for his, he never accepts the cases from our country. If I knew a way I would really take it" he stated in frustration, he knew that this doctor could indeed help him, afterall there isn't a known case were he has failed. But Felix Blackthorne had to go through the misery of not having access to this doctor, he wasn't even able to plead his case, which only frustrated him.

He hated how fate made him helpless over and over again.

Elias didn't want to put his friend through more suffering " I know one last time, I just can't help it please we must try once more, somehow plead about the case." His voice too contained so much desperation.

" I will, I will try one more time, but not know I need a bit more time and I will. Let me first check more about the current doctors have to say" he reassured his friend, but he knew he was reassuring himself.

" I never meant to make it hard for you, but I had to tell you this, you know. I really don't like you the way you are now. This isn't you. I feel like I am holding on to some fragments of you." His was filled with so much sadness, all these years had worn both of them too much.

" Well she did take most of me with herself, I myself don't feel like I am who I am, I don't want to look into myself either, because I know that I will see all the pieces she left behind that loved her too much." His voice cracked, he knew he was miserable and it was so pathetic.

"I know" Elias replaced with a sadness that crippled him.

It hurt him to see his friend in such a state and he knew over years that there was no prospect to console him, all he could do was leave him alone.

And he hated doing it, but he still had to.
