Chapter 18 - Chapter 17: The World will be Destroyed.

It wasn't that Connors didn't want to enjoy the show; he was deliberately causing trouble.

The main reason was that when he learned "Black Widow" Natasha came to Gotham for Cindy, he couldn't just sit back and watch.

Taking advantage of the moment these gang bosses dropped their trousers, exposing their behinds, he stepped forward and kicked them one by one, distributing his blows evenly, sending the bosses into a furious rage.

Swish, swish, swish!

Besides Connors, there were other gang members on the third floor of the Iceberg Club. They all raised their guns and aimed at Connors.

"Kill him!" A large man fell to the ground and didn't get up for a long time, simply sitting there and shouting orders. Suddenly, bullets poured down like raindrops.

Natasha felt things were getting weirder, but she still sat obediently in the chair, intending to make new plans after the guy who kicked people for no reason was killed.

The bullets hit Connors as the bosses expected, and the gang suit he was wearing was instantly torn to pieces. But soon, the gunshots slowed with a slight hesitation, and the gang members who fired looked at each other.

The suit, full of holes, quickly shrank from its human form and fell limply to the ground. The target they wanted to shoot had completely vanished.

When the gang leaders heard the gunfire stop, they stood up one after another. When they saw only a set of clothes where Connors had been, their brains ceased to function again.

Master of minor tricks was in action.

Connors completely avoided the barrage of bullets with just a trick of quick change and misdirection. He was now standing next to the bigwigs, holding an iron chain he'd picked up from somewhere.

The combination of his "minor tricks" and "lock picking" skills allowed him to quickly string up the four or five large men present, then kick them one by one, hanging them all in the empty space in the middle of the Iceberg Club.

Then he predicted these bigwigs might wail and curse, so he took off all their leather shoes and stuffed them into their mouths.

As for those gun-wielding minions, Connors showed no mercy. His intermediate mixed martial arts skills, combined with the use of minor tricks, allowed him to almost ignore these people.

After knocking out the last standing minion with the butt of his companion's gun, he walked up to the confused Black Widow, smiled, and extended his hand: "Hello."

Seeing Natasha raise her eyebrows, he spoke before she could: "I know this chair can't tie you up."

Natasha's hands, which had been tied behind the chair, slipped out of the chains very naturally, and then she shook Connors's hand twice: "Gotham's Dark Knight is indeed worthy of his reputation."

'You think I'm Batman…' Connors chuckled and said: "If I were Batman, I'd be talking to you with my face covered right now."

After shaking Connors's hand, Natasha sat back on the chair with her legs crossed: "Let me be clear first, whether you are a friendly party or not, I will never give the mission target to you."

Connors nodded in agreement: "The same goes for me. No matter if you're from the Red Room or S.H.I.E.L.D., I will never give Silk to you."

Halfway through that sentence, "Black Widow" Natasha almost attacked, but reason made her restrain her impulse.

She hadn't even seen how Connors easily escaped the hail of bullets. It wasn't until Connors had strung up the bosses with chains that she realized it was him.

Even if Natasha had a gun in her hand, she had no confidence she could gain an advantage from this ghostly character. So when she heard the rather sensitive word "Red Room," her facial expression only changed for a moment, but soon her smile returned.

"But I'm much more interested in you than Silk right now…" Natasha figured she'd be defeated if she fought, so she simply started hinting again.

"These twists and turns are useless to me, Natasha. Tell me why you're looking for Silk. If your purpose isn't bad, I know where she's going."

Connors ignored Natasha's flirtation. After all, he and Cindy had been "crazy" for nearly two hours before bed, and he was still in a "sage-like" state. He could never compare to her in terms of being an agent or spy, so he just said it bluntly.

Seeing that her teasing was ineffective and she couldn't fight back, Natasha suddenly felt as powerless as hitting cotton with her fist.

She decided to stall for a while and send out a signal for help first. But when she sat on the chair and secretly reached one hand behind her, ready to send a signal, she was shocked to find that her paging device had appeared in Connors's hand, and he was playing with it.

"As far as I know, Silk has no connection with your S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers. She has always been a loner. Now they send you here to cooperate with some experiment?" Connors fiddled with Natasha's paging device in his hand.

This thing looked like an earring, but it actually contained a device for sending signals. His Spider-Sense had discovered it, but it was a trick that allowed him to get it into his hands without Natasha knowing.

'What is S.H.I.E.L.D.… am I supposed to know them?' Natasha had never heard of such an organization in this world. (TN/The mc thinks that Marvel world exists here.)

"Okay, then I'll get straight to the point… The Ancient One predicted that the world will end in three years, and 'Mr. Fantastic' Reed wants to create a device that can travel through time and space to change all that, but there's a problem now, and we need the help of 'silk's' cross-dimensional Spider-Sense."

Natasha realized that all her methods seemed transparent in front of Connors, so she simply leaned back in her chair and revealed all the reasons why she came to find Silk.

Before she came to Gotham, the Ancient One had predicted that she would encounter a very strong opponent in this operation. Natasha thought he was talking about Batman, but she never expected that the unheard-of Connors would appear halfway.

The Ancient One… Connors's first reaction was the bald but heroic wizard in the movie, and then he heard the news about "Mr. Fantastic" Reed.

Reed Richards, was obviously a hero on the technological side. He had used his brain to push technology to its pinnacle. In the comics, his technology was almost omnipotent, but now he couldn't even create a time-travel device?

"You're lying to me." Connors looked at Natasha and smiled.

"No, I an not!" Natasha was a little anxious when she saw that the man didn't believe her when she told the truth. "Reed has actually made the equipment, but when it was running, he couldn't find any future time nodes, otherwise he wouldn't need the help of Silk."

"Oh." Connors nodded.

Natasha was almost going crazy. She had never met such a stubborn man. At least he could tell her whether it was okay or not. What did "oh" mean?!

Connors was deep in thought at this time. The world was going to be destroyed three years later… American comics were restarted every now and then, and it wasn't uncommon for various villains to destroy the world.

He had transmigrated here. He gained strength by witnessing events, and he became stronger so he could live a quality life.

It was impossible for him to sit idly by and watch such a major event, both morally and logically.

But Black Widow's words couldn't be fully trusted. He needed to find someone to test it, and he already had the right person: Barry Allen, AKA The Flash.
