Chapter 2 - THE FORGOTTEN PAST.

Charlotte sank into her warm bath, hoping it would help her think more clearly. The water embraced her like a silent accomplice as she plotted in her mind — ways to ruin her siblings and her fiancé.

Then suddenly, a question pierced through her thoughts:

"Why was I reborn into my past... instead of getting a new life?"

She had always known about her family curse — "The Curse of Eight Lives."

Her father had told her on his deathbed.

Charlotte had been his favorite — pampered, protected, and loved.

When she turned eight, she started having strange visions and memories… flashes of moments she didn't live, and people she didn't know. Confused and frightened, she confided in the only person she trusted — her father.

That day, he told her the truth.

"It's called the Rosewood Curse," James had said.

"The youngest child of the Rosewood family is bound to live eight lives."

Young Charlotte had frowned.

"But why, Daddy? Isn't it wonderful to have eight lives… eight chances? That sounds fun."

James smiled softly, but his eyes were tired.

"No, my daughter. It means most of your lives will be filled with tragedy. Only one life will be truly joyful — and in that life, you'll know. Miracles will feel normal."

He touched her face gently.

"Never tell anyone. Not your siblings. Not your friends. You can't trust anyone with this."

And then...

He died in her arms.

Charlotte gasped.

She jolted upright in the tub, her head emerging from the water.

Breathing heavily, she muttered:

"What the fuck was that?"

Was it a sign?

Was this her true life — the one destined for miracles?

Or just a trick of her haunted memories?

She stepped out of the bathtub, dried herself off, slipped into her nightgown, and opened the bathroom door — only to find Melody standing there, with her usual fake smile and mock concern.

"Charlotte, are you okay?" Melody cooed.

"David's been scolding you a lot lately… I really hope you're not upset, my lovely sister. He only does it out of love. Me too."

Her tone was syrupy and sweet — too sweet.

Charlotte narrowed her eyes.

"Why are you in my room, Melody? This concern can't be the real reason."

Melody paused, then smiled smugly.

"Well... there's a banquet tomorrow night. 8 PM. Wear a stunning gown, alright? I don't want people mistaking me for the younger sister. Hahaha!"

She left.

Charlotte stared at the door.

"Laugh all you want, my beloved sister. Soon, you'll be on your knees — crying and begging.

Bitch" .
