Chapter 6 - Troublesome Date (3)

I looked at her with the most pitiful expression I could muster—like a kicked puppy that just lost its last bone.

"Hmph," I sighed dramatically, lowering my head just enough to look tragic but still handsome from the right angle.

"What do you think about having a pathetic husband like me? One who can't even become a 1st Star Knight or Mage?"

I added a bitter chuckle, the kind you hear from old drunkards who lost their fortunes to gambling and bad decisions. Honestly, my

acting deserved an award. I even made sure my eyes shimmered with just the right amount of sorrow

She blinked, caught completely off guard by my sudden emotional performance. It took her a moment to recover. Her lips twitched as if unsure whether to laugh or cry.

Then she finally spoke, facing me fully with a bright, comforting smile that made my heart flutter.

"Mmm... yes. You are indeed pathetic," she said sweetly. "Weak, helpless, a scum… and a pervert."

Her smile was beautiful. Her words? Not so much. Each syllable stabbed me like a rusty fork—my heart bled, my pride withered, and somewhere deep inside, my inner man quietly packed his bags and left.

Even though I hadn't done anything perverted recently I had to accept that this body had a history—and unfortunately, a reputation. A very Scum reputation.

"But," she continued, her tone softening as she took a delicate bite from her hotdog, "you've changed. At least now you take care of yourself. And your attitude… isn't completely terrible anymore."

I sighed and admired her as she chewed. The way she bit into that hotdog—it was like poetry. My heart fluttered again.

Then fate hit me. Literally.

Smack!

Something soft but somehow still painful struck the side of my head. My eye twitched. I turned slowly, dramatically, to find…

A slipper.

Lying innocently on the ground beside me, like a weapon discarded after battle.

"Pervert alert!" shouted a little gremlin—er, child—pointing his tiny finger at me. "Everyone! Look! A pervert staring at a beautiful lady eating!"

My soul left my body for a brief second.

His mother rushed over, mortified, bowing and apologizing as she retrieved her son's slipper—her face the very image of "I'm going to strangle this child later."

I sat frozen, eyes twitching, forehead vein throbbing.

"This…" I muttered, still stunned.

And then I heard it—a sound like the gentle chirping of a phoenix in spring.

She giggled.

That soft, enchanting laughter of hers—playful and sweet. Like the kind that made you forget you were just publicly called a pervert by a 5-year-old with impeccable aim.

Thankfully, there weren't many people around. We smiled politely at the apologizing mother, waving her off. But as the kid left, he stuck out his tongue and made a mocking face at me like he'd just won a war.

I had just been humiliated by a child. A child who wielded slippers like spiritual weapons.

Shaking my head, I sighed, trying to salvage my remaining dignity.

She suddenly reached out and pinched my cheeks. Hard.

"Ack!"

"Don't worry," she said with an innocent smile as she stretched my cheeks like I was a mochi. "You don't look as perverted as before. In fact, if you gained a little weight… you might even be handsome."

Her tone was sincere—too sincere. But I could hear the teasing note hiding in her words.

My eye twitched again. "So… that's an improvement? From 'pervert' to 'potentially handsome pervert'?"

She simply smiled—so dazzling, so radiant—and didn't answer. She was enjoying this way too much.

The sun began to set behind her, casting a golden glow that made everything feel magical. I couldn't help but smile. The rest of our date went surprisingly well.

We wandered the streets, trying all the food stalls—skewers, dumplings, those weird glowing candies that might have been slightly magical (and definitely not regulated by the local food council).

By the end, we were both full and satisfied.

I leaned back on a bench, stretching my arms with a groan of relief. Unlike in my past life, where I had to constantly watch my back for assassins, poisonous food, or jealous husbands—this was peaceful.

No blades. No betrayals. Just food, company, and the occasional slipper.

She stood up suddenly, her black-and-green dress fluttering in the breeze like a leaf dancing in the wind. She extended her hand toward me with a smile.

"At least today," she said, "I got to see this side of you. Thank you. I actually had fun."

I took her hand and smiled back. "I had fun too."

A carriage rolled up beside us, its horses looking bored and underpaid. We waved each other goodbye and entered our separate carriages.

For once, I felt satisfied. This… this was the life I wanted. Peaceful. Normal.

Meanwhile, in her own carriage, Silvia sat back with a faint smile. But there was a glint in her eyes.

She was suspicious.

The sudden change in me—it was too drastic. Too not me.

But she liked this version. She found herself wanting to see more. So, for now, she decided not to break the engagement. Not yet.

She stretched her curvy body, her dress clinging in all the right places—as if provoking fate itself.

"Next week…" she murmured with a sigh. "I have to return to the Academy. Ugh, so boring…"

Back at the mansion…

As I walked in, I was greeted by chaos.

Luna, ever-beautiful maid with teary eyes, stood in the hallway looking like she had just lost a national treasure.

"I… I don't know what to do…" she whispered, her voice trembling.

"What happened?" I asked.

She looked up at me, wringing her fingers nervously. "Young Master… Seo… Seo is missing!"

"Your Pet the squirrel" She mustered every ounce of her Courage and close her eyes ready for the Punishment.

Then she exclaimed how she was dressing The Seo as a Maid while she is bathing it and get a soap
