The air inside the sewer tunnel was heavy, damp, and stifling. Julian's boots splashed through stagnant water as he carried Eve on his back, her breath shallow against his neck.


Reese led the way with a flashlight taped to the barrel of his rifle, eyes scanning every shadow, every flicker of movement.


"Fifteen miles," he muttered. "Fifteen miles and we're ghosts."


Julian grunted. "We're already ghosts, Reese. Only thing left is how we die — loud, or silent."


They moved in silence for a while, the city above them alive with chaos. Distant rumbling echoed down the tunnels — buildings falling, riots swelling, the world cracking open.


And yet… below all that noise, something darker crept in.

Lucian stood alone before a reinforced stasis pod, its glass smeared with frost and condensation. Inside, the figure known only as Subject Zero stirred again — pale-skinned, eyes jet black, veins glowing faintly with blue fire.


Technicians hesitated. "Sir, Lazarus Protocol hasn't been field-tested. He's unstable."


Lucian's gaze sliced through them. "That's the point."


Subject Zero stepped into the light. No emotion. No humanity. Just raw silence and lethal grace.


A pause. Then a voice, hollow and broken: "Everything."


Reese froze mid-step. His light caught a strange shimmer ahead — like mist, but denser, moving… alive.


Then the mist split — and a figure stepped forward, dripping wet, barefoot, body humming with energy. It wasn't possible… but it was real.


Reese raised his gun. "Who the hell—"


In a blink, Subject Zero vanished and reappeared behind him. One touch, and Reese flew backward, crashing into the sewer wall.


Julian spun, shielding Eve, who was barely conscious. "Run!"


Subject Zero spoke, voice low like thunder crawling up from the grave.


"You released the virus of truth. Now suffer the cure."

Miles away, in a private cabin surrounded by forest, an old man watched the chaos unfold on several monitors.


He tapped a button. A red light blinked.


"Julian… if you're hearing this… your father's sins are catching up. And so is mine. I hid a weapon. One capable of ending Lazarus."


"But you'll have to survive long enough to find it."
