Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Embarrassed Yukino

Busujima Saeko:"60 points is decent. I only got 58... but I don't seem to have any abilities to enhance."

Little Miss Pink:"Waaah! I only got 60 points too!"

Goddess of Water:"Why do I only have 10 points?! I'm a goddess!"

Exusiai:@Administrator, do you know who created this chat group?

Administrator:"I was just invited and appointed as the administrator. As for the group owner, I've never met them. Wait let me change my user to my name. I'm Nanashi Fumei. Nice to meet you all."

Busujima Saeko:"As you can see, my name is Busujima Saeko. Nice to meet you too. And I have a question. The idea of an unknown entity creating a chat group that connects all worlds is fascinating. But how do we know for sure that we aren't from the same world?"

The others fell silent, clearly considering the possibility.

After some thought, Nanashi decided to speak up.

Nanashi:"I do have some basic information."

Nanashi:"Busujima Saeko, student at Fujimi Academy on Earth. Exusiai, a Laterano native from Terra, working at Penguin Logistics. Aqua... a mentally deficient goddess."

Nanashi:"As for you, @Little Miss Pink…you sound suspiciously like March 7th. But I'm not entirely sure."

Little Miss Pink:"Ding ding ding! You got it! I am March 7th! Am I really that famous in other worlds?"

Nanashi:"I might be an exception. March 7th is a Star Rail passenger and a pioneer."

Nanashi:"That's all I'm going to say. Don't ask me how I know this. It's complicated, and I'm too lazy to explain. You can decide for yourselves whether to believe it."

With that, Nanashi left the chat.

No way was he going to stick around for an interrogation.

How was he supposed to tell them the truth?

That they were all fictional characters he had seen in anime and video games?

Too much of a headache.

He had only revealed a little bit of information—just enough to give them something to think about.

Besides, some things were better left unsaid.

If a complete stranger suddenly claimed to know everything about you, wouldn't that be terrifying?

More importantly…

Who was to say their worlds were truly the same as the ones depicted in fiction?

The less he said, the fewer mistakes he would make.

Right now, Nanashi was preoccupied with thoughts about his own world.

For instance—how could he eradicate all the evil spirits?

He had slain countless evil spirits, yet he had come to an undeniable realization: they could never truly be exterminated.

Every time he killed one, he was rewarded with Doomsday Points—proof that his actions interfered with the apocalyptic forces at play. This only motivated him to continue the hunt.

But because he had killed so many, he knew the truth all too well.

Evil spirits were endless.

No matter how many he eliminated, new ones would always emerge.

An unsolvable problem.

"Forget it. I'll just sleep on it."

When faced with something that couldn't be solved, the best thing to do was lie down and let it go.

Honkai: Star Rail World

"This is so weird. I can't tell anyone about the Doomsday Chat Group…"

March 7 held her face in her hands, looking frustrated.

She had tried multiple times to share what had happened, but no matter how she worded it, the words refused to leave her lips.

She wasn't the only one.

Another person struggling with this was the Archangel.

"Exusiai, what's up with you today? You're acting kinda weird."

Croissant, the bread-loving courier, poked Exusiai in the waist.

"I…"

Exusiai hesitated, her words stuck in her throat.

She slumped weakly onto the sofa.

Holding onto a secret you couldn't share—it was suffocating.

Everyone else was doing their own experiments with the chat group.

As for Nanashi—if the problem couldn't be solved, he was content with sleeping until dawn.

Wake up. Get dressed.

Brush teeth. Wash face.

Boil an egg. Drink a glass of hot milk.

Then, head to school at a leisurely pace.

His classroom—Grade 2, Class 1 of Eden High School.

"Ohayo, Nanashi-kun!"

The moment he sat down, he was greeted by the ever-energetic Yui Yuigahama from the desk next to his.

"Ohayo, Yui."

Nanashi was used to returning her greetings in the same way.

"Hehe."

Yui smiled brightly. For her, saying good morning to Nanashi was a great way to start the day.

Then—

Poke.

Poke.

He felt two light taps on his back.

"What is it, Megumi?"

Nanashi turned around, meeting the calm gaze of the bob-haired girl, Megumi Kato.

Unbothered by the casual way he called her name, Megumi subtly pointed behind him with her pen.

"Someone's been staring at you."

"Hm?"

He followed her gaze.

"!!!"

The moment he locked eyes with the observer, they quickly averted their gaze.

"Oh."

It was Yukino Yukinoshita.

As soon as their eyes met, her ears and cheeks flushed red.

Yesterday's events must have flashed through her mind.

Megumi, ever perceptive, spoke in her usual monotone.

"What did you do to Yukinoshita-san?"

It was phrased like a question, but her face didn't show a hint of doubt—only curiosity.

"Nothing much. Just ran into her by chance yesterday."

Nanashi shrugged and then, as if to change the subject, added, "By the way, that hairpin you're wearing today looks nice."

"I don't think it's any different from usual… Oh, the teacher's here."

Megumi gestured toward the door.

Nanashi immediately turned around.

After all, he was a law-abiding student who followed the rules!

Meanwhile, behind him, Megumi lightly touched her pink hairpin, a faint smile curling at the corner of her lips.

"Nanashi-kun always notices me."
