Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

"It was raining. The droplets splashed off my nose. Running down my face, like a river running down a mountain. It was horrid. I never liked rain and yet I crave it. Crave the power it brings me. So here I stand in the middle of a torrential down pour. The only one who isn't soaked to the bone or shivering. This is what I live for.

This is where I belong. In the thick of it. The middle of the mess.

Rain drops weren't the only thing sliding off the end of my finger tips. Wasn't the only thing melding in a pool of swirling mass of silver liquid. Shining in the darkness. Rivulets of blood twisted in the wet maws. Rippling out towards the edge.

I never knew how much I hung".....

My silver eyes flashed as I looked up from the chapter I was reading. Glaring over the top of the book at the ninnies who just walked in the quiet library. At least it had been quiet. Before their high pitch giggles and squeeles broke it.

Narrowing my eyes even more until they were mere slits, I growled low in my throat. A warning.

They didn't hear. They never listen to the little brother of the Alpha. But I watched as they shivered, bunching closer together and looked around. Alarm written across their faces.

'Hmm,' I smirk 'at least I scare them some.'

I lowered my gaze back to my book and burry myself in the intense scene once again.

....."lighting flashed across the sky, lighting up the darkness. The crackle of thunder followed. A loud echoing boom. Shook the ground.

The ones trying to capture me for their Lord, trembled and cowered. Shrinking away from me.

My crystal eyes glowed in the darkness that followed. Electric energy sizzled in the air, the rain roared louder. Came faster. Harder.

The wind picked up and....."

I growled low in my throat again as I looked over the top of the book again to see who it was this time that dare interrupt me in my solace.

Standing in the fading glow of the sun was none other than my best friend and the only one who puts up with my quirkiness.

Valin.

He was by far the most handsomeness and sexiest wolf out there. And he was mine...well not strictly speaking were not mated or anything but he's mine. He even said so.

His deep brown eyes scanned the library until they landed on me. A smile slowly appeared, lighting up his features even more.

He meander over.

Sat down next to me and kissed me on the cheek. "What's up Kitty Kat."

I glowered at him and mumbled something unintelligible that only he would know what it was.

Laughing he said "I know you don't like it but Kitty Kat is what I'll always call you."

I grumbled again and pushed against him. Of course he's like a mountain so nothing happened. But him grabbing my hand and holding it in his big warm, calloused one.

He was looking at me that way again. The way he shouldn't be looking at me. I tried not to squirm in my chair, the last time he looked at me from underneath his long dark eyelashes like this we nearly...'No!' My mind screamed at me and I pull my hand away, turning away to push my books into messenger bag. Hoping he couldn't hear my heart hammering in my chest.

Confusion and hurt flashed across his face as he knew I was going to bolt like I always do. Every since the summer solace I've been avoiding him and bolting when we were alone together.

Standing up I say "sorry Val but I got to go." I don't even push my chair in as I...fled the library.....walked as calmly as I could out of the library. As I passed by his chair though he stood and blocked my path.

"Come on Cam, please don't do this." He practically pleaded. "Please don't avoid me again, we need to talk about this. My wolf wants you and there's nothing I can do to change that." His dark eyes full of sadness, hurt and something else.

"That's why I have to do this, I'm sorry." I pushed past him and leave the library, before he could grab me and keep me there.

That wasn't the only thing I left, his warmth, his protection....oh how I longed to turn around and tell him and snuggle in his arms. But tell him what?

"What really happened that night? How I feel about him? No! I couldn't even tell my own brother what really happened. That everything was taken from me that night that Jeremiah came and forced himself on me. No I couldn't tell anyone what happened. Beside they wouldn't believe me as Jeremiah is a high ranked and highly respected wolf in the pack. And what was I, I was nothing. Being the Alpha's little brother means nothing."

I could hear him behind me as I ran down the corridor. I knew he could catch me if he wanted to, I wasn't very fast. My wolf wasn't even very fast or strong. I was the weakest member of the Star Grove Wolf pack. Im not even sure why I'm even still here. Most other packs would of chased me out or killed me.

But my brother kept me, he assigned Valin to protect me. The Beta, which surprised me as I didn't think the powerful handsome Golden wolf even knew I existed. But here we are several years later and I'm still not sure how to process what he had told me the night before he left on the mission for my brother.

If he had told me before the night that ruined everything I would of been estactic and jumped into his arms declaring the same thing. But it had been just a week after that night and I had ran from him. The moment he confessed to me that he's in love with me and his wolf chose me to be his.

I ran. I ran as fast as I could. I ran until I couldn't run anymore. I ran until the very breath in my lungs burned like fire. I ran until I could no longer see.

Then I had collapsed.

I knew not where I was or how I made it back to my bed chambers. But since that day things have been strained between me and my brother's Beta Valin.

We would never be the same. We couldn't not after.....a tear slid down my cheek as I reached the bend in the corridor and disappeared around it.

Valin, I sensed him following me. I could always sense where he was and he was still my protector, still under orders from my brother, the Alpha.
