Chapter 7 - Ch 7: A Visit Outside - 1

Emelia quickly changed her clothes before she grabbed her pills and took them.

Those pills she took were something her aunt had given her to show her care for Emelia. After all, Emelia had a record of getting sick often.

She and the others would have mistaken it as her heat, but Emelia knew deep down that it was not the case for her. She was alright and her body felt fine as well. Whatever she was suffering from was nothing like a heat.

"Well, no point in thinking about anything. I should take a pill for now and head out."

Emelia quickly headed out in her casual wear and saw Liam waiting for her just outside her door.

Unlike Emelia, Liam was dressed in designer clothes that had no wrinkles, and even from a whole room apart, Emelia could tell that there was a world of difference between herself and Liam.

It made her feel underdressed, and she wondered if it was too late to go back and change.

But on second thought, she had no idea what she could even change into to not look overdressed and match Liam's level—

especially since she was going for a doctor's visit.

'This is awkward. Should I go and change? Or should I just wait here? The decision makes me regret asking myself anything.'

Emelia's quiet presence was felt by Liam, and before she could reach a conclusion, Liam forced one upon her.

"Are you ready to leave? I need to head out in ten minutes, so if you're done, we can head out now."

Liam asked, and Emelia felt sorry for thinking to head back and change. She was making Liam late with her indecisiveness.

"I am done. We can head out now. Thank you for giving me a ride to the city."

Emelia quickly walked toward Liam as she said these words. She wanted to convey her gratitude, but most of her words failed her, and her mind automatically processed what to say.

Liam had an almost awkward expression as he looked at Emelia before he took a step back. He seemed to be maintaining his distance from her for the time being… not that Emelia minded.

She understood that Liam needed some time, but him stepping back from Emelia, like she was plague did hurt her a little.

The alpha noticed the expression on Emelia's face and he quickly tried to explain his actions.

"A-Ah, don't think I was flinching away from you. It's just… your perfume. It's a little intense for me right now. My nose is sensitive, so it picks up scents easily, and yours is a little… intense. Almost like blood in a way."

Liam spoke softly, and at first, Emelia told him that she did not wear perfumes because they irritated her skin and made her head spin.

But on a second thought, she realized what Liam was speaking about, and her face went aflame. Her tongue felt tied as she tried to speak, but Emelia finally got some words out.

"I-I see. I will try not to wear any perfumes in the future that could distract you. But sometimes, I can't help it."

At this point, both sides were making excuses and avoiding looking at each other. The awkward air continued and Liam sighed before he signaled for Emelia to follow him out.

He led her to his car and opened the side door for her to get inside.

Emelia slipped inside the car without thinking much, but she decided to be careful while sitting as to not damage the car.

Unlike her, Liam seemed to have no regard for his car's safety, and he banged the door shut loudly, making Emelia flinch while sitting inside.

Liam slipped into the front seat before he drove off.

Emelia's focus shifted to outside for a moment, but she could not help but notice the intense pheromones that were filling the car's interior.

Liam's grip was tight on the wheel and if Emelia focused, she could even hear panting. But she tried her best to pretend she did not notice what was going on beside her.

Finally, they reached the nearest town, and Emelia let out a sigh of relief. She could finally escape Liam and do what she came here to do.

"Where do you need to go? I can drop you off before I head to work."

Liam asked in a tense voice.

Emelia immediately felt defensive about it. Something inside her did not want Liam or anyone else to know where she was going.

"Ah, it's fine. Please drop me off here. I will find my way to where I need to go. As for heading back home, don't worry! I have my wallet and I will find my way back… somehow."

Emelia assured Liam of this, and she even smiled to show that she meant what she said. But Liam did not look convinced by her words.

In fact, he looked even more distracted when Emelia said that she would 'find her way back somehow.' But in the end, he just sighed and decided before he held his hand out for Emelia.

"Give me your phone. I will save my number in your phone. Call me when you need to head back, and I will send someone to get you. And don't you dare head back on your own. I will know if you did."

Liam sounded angry, and Emelia quickly opened the window to let those heavy pheromones out before she had an accident and wetted Liam's car seats.

She hated how the alpha pheromones could make her feel, even when she was not an omega. They demanded submission from her, and Emelia had a feeling she would lose this fight if she tried to fight back.

Her only option was to hand her phone to Liam and wait for him to be satisfied.

When Emelia did put her phone in his hand, it felt as if she was being shocked by something.

Liam's expression told her that he likely felt the same shock she did. But he was much calmer about it.

He quickly keyed in his number and gave her phone back without saying another word. The moment was short, but Emelia's heart wouldn't stop pounding.

Even when she stepped out of the car and closed the door behind her, her hand tingled from where it had touched Liam's.

She didn't look back. She couldn't.

Because for the first time in a while, she was afraid of what she would see if she did.

Not fear of harm, but something far more dangerous:

The fear of wanting to stay.

Intense silver eyes looked at Emelia, and she quickly snatched her phone back at the first opportunity she could get.

Liam looked satisfied once he had a way to check in on her. He handed Emelia her phone back, but his grip was tight, and he did not let go immediately.

"Do you need something else? Should I bring back anything special for you?"

Emelia felt nervous as she felt eyes on her. That was why she decided to ask this question as a distraction for herself and Liam at the same time.

But that did not help much. Liam just blinked slowly at her before he reached out to grab her hand and pulled it toward his lips to press a soft kiss on the back of her hand.

"Do be careful out there. I don't feel good sending you alone, but I will always come running to you if you need me. So call me if you feel like you need my help."

Liam spoke softly but firmly. It was clear what he wanted from Emelia. But Emelia felt tension rise in her frame, and she wanted to step back. She did not know what she did to entice Liam, but it was clear that she did something.

Otherwise, why would an elite alpha like him decide to behave like this in front of Emelia?

'Is the lack of omegas around making Liam delusional? Or maybe it's…the scent of blood coming from me. Maybe Liam has a fetish I am better off not knowing.'

Whatever the reason was, it made Emelia feel uncomfortable and hot at the same time. She knew she needed to pull back before something worse happened to her.

Her first tug went unnoticed as the grip on her hand tightened. But her second one was more successful, as Liam finally pretended he got the message that Emelia was giving him.

"I understand. I will let you go for now. But please, be careful and come back when you are done."

Emelia nodded and headed out.

Liam watched her go with a solemn expression on his face. The more he recalled what happened and how he acted, the worse he felt.

He quickly covered his face with his hands, not wanting to think about how cheesy he acted just now.

"Fuck! What the hell is wrong with me? It almost felt like I was not myself when I was with Emelia. Shit! Is it the curse? Is it getting to me as well?"

Liam questioned as he rubbed his forehead.

For some reason, what just happened did not feel like it was the curse's doing. It felt more like it was his own emotions that went out of their way to cause trouble.

But if that was all, then he wouldn't have felt as worried as he did.

"I have a feeling things are about to change. I am not the only one acting differently. I hope it is not a sign of a storm heading our way."

Despite the curse and all that had happened up until now, Heinsberg mansion had stood tall and firm. But Liam had a feeling that it wouldn't be the case for long with how things were going.
