Chapter 7 - Chapter 7

Aiden

I woke up the next morning to a throbbing headache. I had slept very little, and what sleep I did get was plagued by disturbing dreams of Selena and her twisted games. I groaned as I sat up, rubbing my temples in an attempt to ease the pounding behind my eyes. As I swung my legs over the side of the bed, I noticed that the curtains were still drawn tightly closed, blocking out any natural light.

I got out of bed, still half asleep, and staggered toward the curtains. Pulling them back, I blinked at the sudden brightness. The figure outside was gone, but my heart was pounding in my chest. Was it just a trick of the light, or was someone really watching me? Shaking off my paranoia, I went to shower and get ready for class.

As I stepped into the hot stream of water, I tried to wash away the remnants of the nightmare that had haunted my dreams. The image of Selena's cold gray eyes staring back at me lingered in my mind, sending shivers down my spine despite the warmth of the shower. After drying off, I threw on a pair of jeans and a worn-out t-shirt, then made my way downstairs to grab something quick for breakfast.

I entered the campus where some students had gathered in a pile. I saw Milo there too and walked over to him. "Hey dude what's going on here?" I asked, looking around the sea of students. "There's going to be a new hunt tonight and everyone's excited" Milo replied, apparently he was going to sign up for the hunt too.

Milo took the clipboard and scribbled his name. He looked up and smiled mischievously. "Will you join in?" I hesitated for a moment, promising myself not to join in again, but it was worth the risk. This time I wasn't going to let Selena catch me. I took the clipboard from his hand and wrote my name.

As I signed my name, I felt a strange mix of excitement and dread churning in my stomach. The thought of facing Selena again both thrilled and terrified me. I handed the clipboard back to Milo, who grinned at me. "You sure about this, man? She's pretty scary," he said, raising an eyebrow. "I know" I replied, trying to sound confident. "But I can handle her." Milo shrugged. "Suit yourself. Just don't say I didn't warn you."

-------------------------------------------

Milo and the other students were in the woods hunting. We were wearing pink neon bracelets again. I know what I'm getting myself into, but I'm here again after the first time. I just hope I get out unharmed. Suddenly, the sound of a horn cut through the forest, and that was the signal for the hunt to begin. Milo and I started running together through the woods, the hunters were nearby.

The trees flew past us as we ran, our footsteps echoing in unison. Milo glanced back occasionally to see if any of the hunters were catching up, while I focused on moving forward. The adrenaline pumping through my veins pushed me faster, fueled by a mixture of excitement and fear. As we rounded a bend, the distant howls of the hunters echoed through the forest.

Milo gripped my arm, pulling me to a halt. "We need to split up," he panted, his chest heaving with exertion. "They're getting closer." "I don't know..." I began, but Milo cut me off. "You'll stand out less on your own. Trust me." He gave me a reassuring nod before darting off into the undergrowth, leaving me alone in the dimly lit forest.

I stood frozen in place, listening to Milo's footsteps fade into the distance. The howls of the hunters grew louder, sending me into a panic. I should have kept moving, but my body seemed to freeze in place. Then a low growl came from right behind me, and instinct kicked in. I threw myself into a run through the bushes, branches digging into my arms and cheeks.

I was running through the forest without looking back. Adrenaline was raging inside me and I had no intention of stopping. Suddenly I tripped and fell face down in the mud. My face was dirty, as were my clothes. Then a growl and a voice I hoped I wouldn't hear rang in my ear. "I got you, bunny."

Selena grabbed me by the hair and forced me to look up at her. She sneered triumphantly, "Did you really think you could escape me, bunny?" Before I could respond, she wrenched me up off the ground by my hair. I gasped in pain, tears stinging my eyes as she held me there. Her lips curled into a cruel smile. "You're mine now" she whispered menacingly. "I-I'm not yours!"

Selena laughed wickedly as she jerked me upright, her fingers tangled in my hair. "You're mine, bunny" she repeated, her voice a low growl. "And I'm going to enjoy breaking you." I struggled weakly against her grip, but it was futile. She was too strong. Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared up at her, hatred and fear warring within me. "Please... please don't do this" I begged, my voice barely above a whisper.

Selena's grip tightened, and she pressed her body against mine, forcing me to feel every curve and line of hers. Her breath was hot on my cheek as she leaned in close. "Begging won't save you, bunny" she purred. "In fact, it just makes things more interesting." I shuddered at her words, both repulsed and strangely aroused by her proximity. "Let's get one thing straight" she continued, her voice a low growl.

"You were mine the day I saw you clearly? No matter how much you deny it, the truth is that you were made for me!" "You're sick!" I screamed, trying to escape her grip. She growled and pulled a knife from her pocket. "This is my favorite knife, you know? I love playing with it" she whispered mockingly in my ear. She turned it by the handle and brought it closer to my face.

Selena pressed the blade against my cheek, tracing a thin line down to my jaw. The cold metal sent a shiver down my spine, and I swallowed hard, trying to suppress the rising panic. "Why are you doing this?" I managed to choke out, my voice trembling with fear and anger. Selena's eyes flashed with a wild intensity, her lips curling into a sinister smile.

Selena pressed the blade harder against my skin, the sharp edge biting into my flesh. A thin line of blood trickled down my cheek, staining my shirt. She inhaled deeply, her nostrils flaring as she took in the scent of my fear. "Because you're mine" she growled, her voice laced with possessive madness. "You belong to me, and I'll do whatever it takes to claim you."

Suddenly she put her knife in her pocket and stood up, taking a step back. "I'll leave you for now, bunny, but remember I'm always close." With those words she walked away, leaving me in shock and confusion.

I watched her walk away, my heart pounding in my chest. The thrill of the chase had given way to a strange mixture of fear and anticipation. I knew I should be running, putting as much distance between us as possible, but something held me rooted to the spot. Perhaps it was curiosity, or perhaps it was the perverse allure of danger that drew me to her.
