⨠Chapter 1: "The Stranger in the Mirror"
---
The storm outside howled like it had teeth. Inside her candle-lit apartment, Selene, a reclusive art student, stood stillāfrozenānot because of thunder, but because the mirror had just whispered her name.
> "Selene..."
Not her reflection. Not her voice.
It was a man's voiceālow, seductive, and close.
She spun around. Empty room.
The mirror rippled like a surface of black water.
Her hand trembled as she reached for it.
---
Selene had always felt... watched.
Ever since her 21st birthday, her dreams had turned vividāvisions of a faceless man in shadow touching her, whispering secrets she couldn't recall when she woke.
She kept a journal.
Each dream more intense. More real.
> Last night, she'd awoken to the feeling of lips brushing her neck⦠and the mark was still there in the morning.
And now, the mirror had spoken.
> "You're ready now."
The voice was backābehind her. She turned again.
And this time, he was there.
---
A tall figure stood in the center of her roomādressed in black, skin pale like moonlight, eyes glowing faintly violet.
"You've called to me for months, Selene," he said.
"Now you'll remember who you really are."
She backed away, heart racing. But a strange pull stopped her.
He stepped forward, slow and confident. She could smell himālike night and ash and something old.
"Don't be afraid. You summoned me," he whispered, reaching out.
And when his fingers touched her cheekā
A flood of visions slammed into her mind.
Her, standing naked under a blood moon. Him, kneeling before her. Her hand around his throat.
---
Selene gasped, stumbling back.
> "What are you?" she asked, voice cracking.
He smiled. "Your bonded. Your shadow. Your sin."
He moved closerāonly inches away now.
> "Touch me, and your past comes back. Everything you've forgotten. Everything you crave."
Selene hesitated⦠then reached outā
And the lights blew out.
Total darkness.
Only his voice in her ear:
> "Next time you sleep, you won't wake alone."
