It has been one year since I was reborn in this world, and I have learned the language, which is quite similar to that of my previous life. Now, I fully understand what others say, though I still can't speak fluently.
Tonight is my chance to get the book from my room. I may have been accompanied in my efforts before, but now, I'm alone.
It's nighttime, and I've planned to do this now. I don't want anyone to know that I can walk or talk because it's too dangerous; they might suspect that I am a reincarnation.
Even if they don't suspect anything, what if something unexpected happens? I don't have the power to fight back; I'm just in a baby's body.
I need to get out of this crib. As I climb out of the crib, I crawl toward the book, which is far from me. Sigh, it's hard to crawl as a baby.
I finally reach the book and open it. I hope it contains the alphabet of this world.
To my relief, I find that I can read it. Although it differs from my previous language, my long year of listening and learning helped me understand it.
Anyway, I should read it to see what it contains. Oh, the title of the book!
I look at the title and see:
[History of the World and Powers].
"What luck that I have this!" I exclaim in a childish voice.
If someone heard a baby talking, they might freak out.
Anyway, I need to read it. I open the first page and begin reading for about 30 minutes.
"Now I have enough information for now," I think to myself.
It seems they use a power called mana, which is new to me. There are eight stages, but I don't know what those stages are yet.
This world is divided into four realms, but outside these realms are monsters, demons, and dragons.
Inside the realms, there are:
- The Elves' Kingdom
- The Human Kingdom
- The Dwarves' Kingdom
- The Beastkin Kingdom
This is unfamiliar; it's new. The elves have long ears and are beautiful, while the dwarves are known for their weapon craftsmanship. The Beastkin have cat ears and tails, and they are quite aggressive. Finally, there's the Human Realm.
"Damn it!"
Now I find myself in the role of the prince of the Human Realm. My mother is the queen, and my father is the king—I'm the heir to this family.
Why can't fate let me be? In both of my lives, I hold the same title. There are differences, though; my new family seems warm, while my past family was emotionless, seeing me as nothing more than a tool for their benefit.
But I can't judge yet; I haven't seen my new family's true colors. Maybe I'm overthinking it—perhaps they are good after all.
While I'm lost in thought, I hear my mother's voice outside the door.
"I should go check on my little baby," she says with happiness.
Oh no, it's too far to get back to my crib! I need to pretend to be sleeping on the floor.
I hear the door open and close my eyes, trying to feign sleep.
"Oh my baby, where is the maid, and why are you on the floor?" she asks worryingly.
She picks me up and carries me back to my crib, and it feels warm and comforting.
"Ew, why are you so cute? When you grow up, you'll be the most handsome man in the world. The girls will go crazy for you!"
She continues to say things like this every time we meet!
