Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Ororo POV

Ororo was taken aback by surprise when the child flung himself at her, causing her to stumble to the ground with him in her arms. Everyone, including Ororo stayed there in shock for a moment before she asked questioningly, "Sister Kara?" "At least we now know that he is not normal," Xavier said after seeing the boy fly across the hanger toward Ororo, "Ororo, can you take the child to the infirmary with Hank and run a few tests on him. I would like to know who he is." "Can't you just read his mind Professor?" asked Scott. "I tried; his mind is filled with a jumble of useless information. As if his mind has no filter all," said Professor Xavier, "I have heard that people with deformed amygdala's have that same problem. They feel everything, all the time, they cannot. It makes it nigh impossible to locate his memories." A look of pity showed on the professor's and hank's faces, since as scientists, knew what that meant. While the others did not understand, that did not stop them from empathizing with the child. "For now, everyone else should go back and rest. You did good today," the professor said in a dismissive manner before following Hank and Ororo out of the hanger as Ororo carried the child.

Scott turned and noticed Jean with a strange look on her face, so he asked, "Is everything ok Jean? Did you sense something off with the kid?" Jean, shaken from her thoughts by Scott replied, "What? No, it's nothing. His mind was like the professor said, a jumble of useless information. So, I kind of lost myself in it for a while before the professor pulled me out. I just need a moment to clear my head." Then Jean left the hanger as well, leaving the others in a confused state. They looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders before following Jean out of the hanger.

In the infirmary, Ororo looked at the boy laying on the examination table with a machine scanning him, as Hank and the professor looked at the monitor. Seeing the boy's white hair that matched her own, Ororo couldn't help but feel a sort of connection with him, but she was confused as to why he called her Kara. "Professor, did the boy say anything when you found him?" she asked while looking at the boy. The professor let out a sigh, before looking over towards the boy and saying, "He called himself Jor-El the third. Child of Zor-El and Alura In-Ze. Last son of Krypton. He apparently claims to be an alien from space." A look of shock crossed Ororo's face as she continued to look at the boy. "You do not actually believe him, do you professor?" asked Ororo. Before the professor could reply Hank called out in excitement from the monitor station and said, "He might actually be telling the truth. From what I can tell from his scan's, his body is built like humans, but his cell structure is denser and seem to be absorbing energy. As for his D.N.A., besides the fact that he does not have the x gene, his is a carbon-based lifeform, but its structure is unlike anything I have seen before. We could spend the next one hundred years studying it and not be able to scratch the surface."

Turning back to the monitor, a look of surprise spread on the professor's face. He then looked at the boy as a look of wonder and excitement appeared on his face. Glancing at Ororo, he said, "Ororo, seeing as he feels most familiar with you, I want you to take care of him. He obviously believes you to be someone he knows, seeing as I cannot read his mind at the moment, I want you to get close to him and see if he will tell you anything else about himself and where he is from." Ororo was conflicted at first as she looked at the boy, not wanting to take advantage of his trust, but feeling as this was in his best interest she agreed with the professor's request. The professor than left as Hank took the data from the scan to his lab and Ororo placed a chair next to Jor-El before sitting next to him.

Jor - El POV

I do not know how long I was out for, but when I woke up, I was on a gurney and alone. The room was completely chromed out, with a few, scattered medical equipment. 'Good, this gives us a moment to figure out what to do next,' I think to myself as I sit up. 'We are in the ideal location to analyze more abilities so we can finish creating the perfect kryptonian genome sequence,' Cortana commented. 'Exactly, and once we have harvested from the school, we can wait for the chance to use Cerebro and compel others around the world to send me a blood sample,' I explain to Cortana, laying out my plan. 'That would be a perfectly evil plan, if not for blood samples being delivered to the manor raising suspicion,' Cortana pointed out. 'That is why they made P.O. Boxes,' I responded. 'True,' Cortana nodded. 'I do not know if they exist in this world but if they do, I would like a sample of both Thor and miss Marvel,' I think with a sigh. 'Yes, analyzing the D.N.A. of both a true god and cosmic being would be ideal in creating the perfect Kryptonian gene,' Cortana says with a happy tone, 'So, for the ideal kryptonian we still need samples from Cyclops, that speedster, wolverine, rogue, Sunfire, Thor, and miss Marvel. Are we forgetting anyone?' 'I would like juggernaut, but if not, we can try looking for the Wreckers from spiderman's line up,' I mention, 'There is also Scarlet Witch and Doctor Strange. They would make for interesting additions.' 'Then why do we not add Hulk, Savage, and the purple man while we are at it?' Cortana said while rolling her eyes. I pause for a moment imagining what I would become if I assimilated their D.N.A. and feel a shiver run down my spine. "No thanks, they would just make me like my father, an angry, narcissistic asshole. Besides, if we really want to take it to another level, we should get Franklin Richards and apocalypse,' I reply while shaking my head. 'If Essex exists in this universe, they might have a sample of Apocalypse's D.N.A.,' Cortana reminded me, 'He is a collector of mutant DNA, so we do not have to risk Xavier discovering your plan. We can just let Essex do the hard work, and when we find his lab, let him take the fall.'

At that moment I hear a swish from across the room and see the door slide into the wall. I watch as Ororo walks inside with the professor following behind her and freezes when she sees me sitting up in bed. "Did you sleep well?" she asked as she walked up to me. I stay quiet as Ororo walks up to me and just take her in. She is still a light skinned African woman like in the movies with her signature white hair, except for the fact that it was short. 'I don't mind women having short hair, I just don't think Ororo can pull off that lack, she be more appealing if she had long hair like in the comics,' I think to myself as I frown a bit. I reach up and grab a strand of her hair before saying, "Kara, cut, why?" "Ah, are you asking why I cut it, why, do you not like it?" asked Ororo. I felt a pressure on my mind from the professor, so I had Cortana create an image of me running my fingers thru a girls long white hair. After a moment I saw the look in Ororo's eyes change before she said, "Don't worry, it will grow longer in the future, then you can brush it again." I let out a smile before nodding and saying, "Okay." It was hard keeping the smirk off my face as I saw their actions. 'The Professor is such a hypocrite. He claims to be a pacific, but the first time he runs into an issue he does not want to deal with, he scramble's your brain's,' I think to myself in a mocking tone, 'I mean look at what he is going to do to Jean and Logan. Just because he becomes afraid of them, he seals parts of their minds so he can manipulate them. Look at what happened to Sage in that alternate earth, he sent her to spy in the hellfire club and then just forgot about her.'

The professor was the one character I hated in X-men, so I kept smiling at Ororo while trying to ignore Xavier, but then he goes and opens his mouth. "Jor-El, I know you just woke up, but we have a few questions for you. Like how you arrived onto our planet and why you are here?" asked Xavier. When I looked at him, I couldn't help a sneer coming onto my face. Seeing the look on my face, Ororo turns to the professor and says, "Maybe you should leave this to me professor." Xavier continued to look at me for a minute before nodding his head and turning to leave. Ororo waited for the professor to leave before she turned to me with a smile. "The professor is actually a nice person, you should open up to him more," she says, but I continue to frown at her. "Any way's, I would like to ask you also why you are here on this planet?" she asks, while I feel the pressure on my mind again. 'Looks like I can use the professor's hypocrisy to weave a story for them. Cortana, help me synchronize the memories from my Kryptonian persona, from birth to fleeing the planet at 3 years old on separate shuttles with Kara and arriving on this planet. Although I can't whip up a ship, so maybe we should make it that I landed inside a river and had to abandon it. We can round it up with a kind stranger taking me to the orphanage a few weeks ago,' I think to Cortana as I tilt my head to Ororo with a confused look on my face. "Forget?" I asked Ororo. At that moment the pressure on my mind lessened, but Ororo's eyes got foggy as she listened to the professor talk in her head.

I continued to sit there with a confused look on my face as I waited for Xavier and Ororo to sort thru the memories Cortana made and figure out their next move. After a while I called out "Kara?", letting them know they had taken a bit long. This caused Ororo to jump a bit before she looked at me with eyes of pity before saying, "No, I remember, I was just wondering why you took so long to arrive." I just shrugged my shoulders before saying, "Weird human took me to bad place. Bad place than destroyed, I sneak onto ship to leave bad place." "That's fine, your here now. You can stay here with me. This is a safe place for people who are different," Ororo said before patting me on the head. 'This may be the perfect place for me to develop my abilities, but personally, I would prefer the more technologically advanced Wakanda,' I thought to myself as I smiled at Ororo. "Then I will show you where you will be staying from now on," Ororo said with a smile. I smile at her before stretching out my arms to her. 'Don't blame me, no man would pass up the chance to be in the arms of a beautiful woman,' I think in my head when I hear Cortana snicker at my action. Ororo hesitates for a moment before she reached over and picked me up, into her arms and carry me outside the room into a chromed hallway. As she carries me down the hallway, I glance around hoping to see the iconic door that leads to Cerebro, unfortunately we reach the elevator before I could find it. Entering the elevator, I notice that the interior was wood instead of more metal. The time inside the elevator was short, and when it stopped the door opened into a wooden hallway, showing a sharp contrast to all the metal inside the basement.

Ororo carried me down thru the halls for a while before stopping in front of a wooden door. Upon opening it, I saw a dark stained four post full-sized bed on the left side of the room, a floor to ceiling bookcase on the right side of the room, and an adult sized wooden desk in front of the bedroom window that looks out into the front yard. "I will be in the room right next door if you need anything, ok?" Ororo said as she saw me looking around. "Primitive world," I say after taking a look around, "Other, better." "Ahem, the other room was just the infirmary, I don't know if the professor will let you stay there. On this planet, most homes resemble this room, rather than the other one," Ororo explained with an apologetic look on her face. I can't help but look disappointed, but I nod to Ororo anyways, thinking to myself, 'She is going out of her way to make me feel welcome so I shouldn't complain like a child, even though I am one right now.' She puts me down and says, "You can explore this room for now, I have a few things to do first. I will come get you when dinner is ready." After I watch her leave, I make my way to the bookcase and start reading. 'It looks like most of the books here are just study materials with a few history books, not even one fantasy novel for entertainment. Whatever, after reading these I can at least stop them from becoming suspicious about why I know so much about human culture,' I think to myself as Cortana starts to analyze the things I read, before organizing it in my mind and comparing it to the knowledge I have from my previous life.

Ororo POV

After leaving Jor-El inside the room, Ororo made her way to the professor's office, when she entered the room she noticed Scott, Hank, Jean, Raven, and Kurt were there as well. "How did it go Ororo? Did he settle in ok?" asked the professor from behind his large wooden desk. Ororo gave an embarrassed look before saying, "Well, when he saw all the wood in the room, he called it primitive, and said he preferred the infirmary." "That is understandable, from the pieces of memory I was able to gleam from his mind not only was his home world highly advance technologically, but his father was also a scientist, so being there would actually be more comfortable for him. But we need him to acclimate to life on this planet," Xavier said while nodding his head. "Professor, Jean already told us what he said. But can you tell us what you were able see from him," asked Scott with a serious look on his face. The professor looked at Scott before letting out a sigh. Ever since Scott was kidnapped by Stryker, he has become vigilant against strangers.

"From what I could see inside his mind, he is in fact from another planet. And one far more advanced technologically then ours. Essentially, their systems sun began to collapse for some unknown reason, so his parents placed him as well as his cousin into escape pods and sent them from their planet," Professor Xavier explained before looking at Ororo, "Ororo apparently resembles his cousin, and since they were supposed to meet up on earth together, he confused the two of them. For now, I would like you to keep playing the part of his cousin so we can get him settled into life here on earth." Xavier looked around the room at each of them before continuing, "As an alien, he will become hunted by forces around the world, so we must keep his past a secret. As far as I can tell, he does not know of any others that may have escaped his worlds destruction, so he is essentially the last of his kind." Everyone became quiet as they tried to process what they had learned about the kid Jor-El. After a few minutes Scott spoke up and said, "Professor, do you think it is wise to keep him. I mean, he is not a mutant, much less human, and he has already shown that he has the ability to fly. There is no knowing what he will be able to do in the future, I believe for everyone's safety, we should send him away." "SCOTT!!!" Jean cried out. While everyone looked at him with varying degrees of disapproval. "Scott, the purpose of this school is to be a haven for those that are misunderstood and abandoned by society. Even if he is an alien, he has shown no hostility so far, and as the last of his kind, I believe he is just as worthy as anyone to live here," the professor tried to explain to Scott, with a look of disappointment on his face.

"We have seen how badly humans treat those that are different, you can imagine what would happen to him if the world found out about him," Xavier said. "Professor, I would like custody of Jor-El since he is already comfortable with me. I just need to teach him not to speak of his origins and get him to use earth names," said Ororo as she took a few steps towards the professor. Xavier lowered his head and pondered over what she said for a moment before lifting his head and looking at her. "Your right, and with you two having the same color hair, no one will question your family ties," Xavier said while nodding his head. "That shouldn't be a problem, I have already scanned his body, so we have everything we need to create a new identity for him," Hank spoke up. "Good. Also, keep an eye on him, from his memories his people were like normal humans, so I believe something caused him to develop the ability to fly and he merely used it in reflex," Xavier mentioned. "From what I saw, his flight ability resembled mine, so I can teach him how to use it," Jean pitched in. "With my ability shouldn't I take on the role of his family member?" asked Raven. "That's what I would have done if he hadn't met Ororo, taking on the form of someone from his memories now would just confuse him more since in his mind his cousin is the only other living Kryptonian," Xavier explains to Raven while shaking his head. "Kryptonian?" wondered Kurt. "Ah yes, he comes from the planet Krypton, and they call themselves Kryptonian's," Xavier replied, "The pod he used taught him some of his world's history, apparently they were a class-based society that used genetic alteration to create people to perform certain roles. If they needed a scientist, they created a scientist, if they needed a soldier, they created one, and so on. They whole society was built on this way of thinking. Jor-El though, seems to be an outlier. He was the first naturally born kryptonian in a millennium."

"Wow, weird planet. So, no one had sex?" asked Scott. This brought a chuckle to the guy's while the girls glared at him. "No, they still had the physiological need for it, but from what I could gleam, it was actually illegal to procreate naturally," explained Xavier, "So his birth was kept secret, and he was isolated from those not his family. Which is why he is so attached to Ororo." "Great, so not only is he an alien, but he developed powers after coming to our plant, and now we find out that his vary birth was against the law," Scott complained. Jean reached out with her hand and smacked Scott in the back of the head before saying, "Is that the only you learned? How about the fact that he is a child with no family, with new abilities, and in a strange place to top it off. Making him just like the rest of us in my opinion." As the others realized that Jor-El's experiences coincided with their own, they lowered their heads in contemplation. "Right, you are Jean, that is why he will be staying with us," Professor Xavier said before turning to Ororo, "I do not know when or if his cousin will turn up, but until than I would like you to keep playing the part Ororo." "What do we do if he finds out?" she asked. "We'll deal with that when the time comes, for now, getting him acclimated to our world is more important, and we need something to tie him here," said Xavier.

After that, the meeting came to an end, Xavier sat there behind his desk as he watched everyone leave to go do their own thing's. As Jean left Scott tried to catch up with her, but she didn't even glance at him before quickening her steps. Hank left, presumably to return to his lab like normal. Kurt also disappeared, to who knows where. While Raven caught up with Ororo to talk some more about Jor-El. As they walked down the hallway Raven asked, "Mind if I ask you a question?" "No, go ahead, what's on your mind?" replied Ororo. "Well, white hair seems to be a genetic trait of kryptonians, right?" Raven asked. "From what the professor could gather from his memories they all did have white hair," answered Ororo. "And all the women in your family have had white hair, correct? Isn't it just as likely that Jor-El's cousin just arrived on earth a lot sooner than him?" Raven wondered out loud. This caused Ororo to stand still in contemplation before turning around and saying, "I am heading to Hank's lab, maybe he can tell us for certain."

After reaching Hank's lab, Ororo mentioned Raven's theory. "Do you mind comparing our DNA to see if there is any relation?" Ororo asked Hank. "No worries, something like that is actually pretty easy to check, my guess is white hair is a dominant trait, so looking for and comparing genetic markers becomes easier," replied Hank before sitting in front of his computer and typing away. Ororo and Raven looked at Hank's screens as he brought up samples of Ororo's and Jor-El's DNA. After a while the computer stopped and showed the results. "It seems that the computer is unable to match your gene's since his cell structure is so dense, but what it can tell us is that you do share the same genetic trait for white hair, ruling out the possibility of having white hair because of age or abilities," explained Hank as he kept tapping away on his computer, "Hmm, you might be interested to know that there is one other person in the database with the same marker. A Silvija Sablinova, she was born around the year 1982 into the royal family of the Eastern European nation of Symkaria. Her father, Ernst Sablinova, is raising her after her mother Anastasia was killed by enemies of her father, who was a legendary Nazi-hunter. Although it seems that the gene was dormant until her mother's death. It seems the shock of her mother's death activated the gene making all her hair turn white."

"Hmm, looks like you were right Raven, it seems that Kara did arrive first, only, she arrived about 50 thousand years ago," Ororo said with a look of contemplation on her face. "So technically you guys are family, but now you just have to bow to him and call him ancestor," Raven said jokingly. This caused Hank to chuckle before Ororo smacked him on the back of the head. "I swear Raven, you need to stay away from the others, they are starting to pick up on your sense of humor," Ororo says before letting out a sigh. "Hey, I will have you know that people have found me funny for decades," Raven replies in mock anger while crossing her arms. "I'm at least thankful that Kurt didn't inherit your sense of humor," Ororo said, "How is rogues adoption going?" "It's going as well as you could guess for two women, mutants at that, who want to adopt. My guess is the only reason they are allowing it is because rogue is also a mutant, and they don't want to deal with the cleanup if her powers go out of control," Raven say's with a tired look on her face, but with a small smile teasing the corner of her mouth, "Destiny is so excited, she has already started designing her room. I came here to escape that hurricane for a while." Ororo chuckled before saying, "Your just as excited, don't you deny it. Hank, thank you for checking. Raven, I have to go see the Professor, I'll talk to you later."

Jor-El POV

I laid down on the bed after going thru all the books. With my enhanced body I now have a photographic memory, so I only need to focus on a page to remember it, then Cortana sorts and store's it for future use. 'So, this world follows mostly the MCU movies, with Captain America, Apocalypse, and Stark. But there are differences, like, why the hell was Kurt AKA Nightcrawler already with the Xmen?' I complain in my head, 'This means there is a divergence in the timeline, which sucks, because there are too many different versions of them in the comics, and that doesn't include the fanfic's. Good thing you copied over her genetic marker for white hair. My guess is they will think Kara arrived at least 10 thousand years ago. Now they won't stay on edge all the time waiting for some nonexistent person to show up.' 'We'll need better access to information if we want to get a better understanding of this world in order to make more informed decisions,' said Cortana as her image showed her flipping thru a book, 'Upside is that this is not a crossover world, so you don't have to worry about Kal-El coming to find us for plagiarism.' 'Sup's is one of those holier than thou types, so he'll let it slide since I'm not besmirching his name,' I replied as I laid there with my eye's closed. 'Well, since we are already doing it, it shouldn't matter if we do it a few more times, luckily you were a nerd in your past life, there is enough fiction in here to fill the congressional library,' Cortana joked, 'We can make some money as a ghost writer, which we can use as startup funds for a tech company.'

'Who knows, maybe we can create a miniaturized arch reactor and beat him in the energy race. No thanks, that would draw too much attention, and you know as well as I do, that there are a number of people it would be best to avoid,' I think while remembering some of the world ending villains in the MCU, 'Though, I can at least get rid of Stryker and Trask. I'll leave hydra to the avengers, while I will keep an eye out for the hellfire club. This world is so jumble, I don't even know where to begin, because in the MCU apocalypse showed up in 1983, which is described in the history book, but in that timeline, jean dies 1992 after being unable to suppress the Phoenix anymore, but here she is, still alive.' 'Well, it can be an amalgamation of things, but for now it looks like we are going to have to play it by ear,' Cortana said looking up from her book. 'At least I have 2 decades before the avengers plot begins, scratch that, Captain Marvel is supposed to show up in 1995 in Louisiana. Meeting her would be like hitting two birds with one stone, I would not only have a chance to scan her, but I would also be able to tell how close to the MCU movie timeline this world is in. Hm, why don't you design a neural interface we can use to patch into the internet.' 'Great, I can finally put all this knowledge and power to use, you have no idea how bored I have been over the years,' Cortana said while jumping around in happiness. 'You're in my head, of course I know. Just like I know that you design a fusion reactor that runs on water from that show I watched,' I replied while rolling my eyes at her antic's.

After a while I heard a knock at the door before Ororo walked in. "Sister kara," I say before jumping out of bed and running to Ororo. "Jor-El, here I go by the earth name Ororo, can you call me that instead?" Ororo asked hesitantly, but relaxed when she saw me nod my head, "Good, hey, why don't we think up a name for you while I show you around the manor?" I nod my head before spreading my arms causing Ororo and Cortana in my head to chuckle. "Okay, but is has to be a good one," I say to Ororo as she picks me up before carrying me out so the room. "How about Magnus? Doesn't that sound like a good," she suggests. "No, it doesn't feel right," I reply, but internally I think, 'Seriously, magnus. I know there is magic in this world, but I'm no magician. Next thing you know she may try Nostradamus since he was an astrologer. I will have to think of one quick before she sticks me with a grandiose one.'
