Chapter 10 - Douluo: Protect Our Spirit Hall [10]

Southwest of the Heaven Dou Empire

In a bustling, vibrant city teeming with people—

A tall, broad-shouldered man with an average face, dressed in the distinctive gray battle attire of the Clear Sky School and cloaked in a black cape, was walking along a busy street. By his side was a graceful woman with a gentle, refined temperament. She wore a flowing blue gown interwoven with silver threads, her stunning beauty marked by her prominent baby bump. The two strolled leisurely through the lively market.

The woman's sapphire-like eyes sparkled as she curiously examined the various trinkets and goods on display at the street stalls.

To her, almost everything here was novel.

It was her first time stepping into a bustling human city. Until now, she had lived only in the countryside or deep within forests.

The man patiently introduced each item to her as they walked, occasionally stopping to buy her local snacks from roadside vendors.

Their eyes were filled with tenderness as they gazed at one another.

But beneath that warmth, a trace of hidden worry flickered across both of their gazes—an unspoken shadow in their hearts.

To outsiders, they looked like an affectionate married couple, lost in blissful companionship.

What they didn't know was that two pairs of eyes were secretly watching them.

Moments later, from a shadowy alley they had passed, two figures emerged.

"Old Ghost, you're sure it's them?"

A seductive voice came from the darkness.

"Mhm."

The reply came in a hoarse voice, hidden beneath a black hooded cloak.

"Target confirmed. Chrysanthemum, go report to His Holiness the Pope. I'll keep tailing them."

These two were none other than Chrysanthemum Douluo Yueguan and Ghost Douluo Guimei, both Rank 92 Title Douluos.

There was no mistake. The "couple" they had identified were indeed the mission targets.

To be precise—it was the pregnant woman in blue who was the true objective.

The lingering aura of a soul beast was unmistakable.

To powerful Title Douluos like them, her presence was like a bright beacon in a pitch-black night.

That "couple" was Tang Hao, one of the Clear Sky School's twin prodigies, an 89th-ranked Soul Douluo—

And the woman was Ah Yin, a transformed 100,000-year Blue Silver Emperor soul beast.

Yueguan swiftly vanished from the shadows and sped out of the city.

Their mission this time: Capture the 100,000-year-old Blue Silver Emperor.

And the one personally leading this operation was none other than the Pope of the Spirit Hall—Qian Xunji.

To avoid alerting their prey, the Pope's grand procession had not entered the city. It lay concealed in a dense forest beyond the city gates.

A few minutes later—

Yueguan knelt on one knee before an opulent golden chariot.

Seated within, atop a golden throne, was a striking middle-aged man in resplendent golden armor, crowned with a gleaming headdress. He was Pope Qian Xunji of the Spirit Hall.

Flanking the chariot were two powerful Title Douluos assigned to guard him.

One wore golden armor—Jin Ming, a Rank 92 elder of the Spirit Hall's Elder Hall. His martial spirit was the Golden Crocodile, and he was the son of Golden Crocodile Douluo, the second offering of the Spirit Worship Hall.

The other stood clad in black, newly promoted to Title Douluo with Rank 91. Known as Ghost Leopard Douluo, he was a recent addition to the Elder Hall, his martial spirit the Phantom Patterned Ghost Leopard.

"Your Holiness, the targets have been located. They're currently roaming the city marketplace," Yueguan reported respectfully.

"Very good,"

Qian Xunji's deep and imposing voice echoed from the chariot.

After a brief pause, he spoke again:

"Do not act yet. There are too many people in the city. Though they're insignificant ants, Tang Hao is no fool. If we make a rash move and innocent bystanders are killed, it could damage the Spirit Hall's reputation."

"Then... what are your orders, Your Holiness?" Yueguan asked.

Qian Xunji chuckled lightly.

"Send two Soul Douluos. Let them reveal their aura nearby—just enough to pressure the targets and force them to flee the city. We'll capture them outside.

Prey... should act like prey."

"Brilliant strategy!"

Yueguan flattered him with a respectful bow.

"Go,"

Qian Xunji waved casually, clearly pleased with the praise.

"As you command, Your Holiness."

Yueguan bowed and departed to execute the plan.

Back in the chariot, Qian Xunji murmured to himself, his tone laced with ambition:

"Tang Hao, are you ready to become the stepping stone to my ascension?

I'm very much looking forward to it. Heh..."

God Realm

Amid swirling clouds and mist—

A towering crimson palace stood like a mountain.

Inside, seated upon a blood-red throne embedded with a sword, was a colossal figure clad in blood-stained armor. His hands gripped the hilt of an enormous red greatsword, and a terrifying aura of slaughter surrounded him.

He was one of the Five Divine Kings of the God Realm—

The enforcer of divine law—God of Asura.

His glowing red eyes stared coldly at the two worlds beneath him.

One was the low-martial world of the Tang Sect in Bashu.

The other was the Douluo Continent.

At this moment, both worlds were experiencing similar events:

A desperate escape—and a relentless pursuit.

Low-Martial World – Bashu Tang Sect

A man in his thirties, dressed in the outer disciple robes of the Tang Sect, darted through a dense forest. Hidden weapons flew at him from all directions as he fled in disarray.

A dozen or so elderly men with graying hair pursued him, refusing to give up. Exotic hidden weapons flew from their hands in countless forms and trajectories.

The fleeing man was Tang San.

And those chasing him were the Inner Sect Elders of the Tang Sect.

The reason? Tang San, an outer sect disciple, had secretly learned the inner sect's forbidden arts. His violation of sect rules marked him for death.

Soon, Tang San was cornered.

He was forced to the edge of the sect's most dangerous cliff—known as "Ghost's End", a place said to be even worse than hell itself.

"Nineteen echoes ring where stones fall in the abyss—

Beyond it lies a layer darker than the underworld."

Tang San's face remained calm on the surface, but inside he was burning with frustration and helpless rage.

But he had no way out.

In the end, pushed to the brink and with no other option, Tang San—naked and unarmed—leapt from the cliff, choosing death to preserve his name and dignity.

God Realm – Temple of Asura

Under the Asura God's gaze—

The Tang Sect incident concluded quickly: Tang San leapt to his death.

The Asura God, seated on his throne, raised one hand and summoned a white light from the Tang Sect's world. It flew directly into his palm.

Within the light was Tang San's intact soul, complete with all his memories.

Then, the Asura God turned his attention toward the Douluo World—

His gaze locked onto Tang Hao and the infant in his arms, both marked with the Asura Seal.

At that moment, Tang Hao was locked in a fierce battle with a man bearing six black wings. Both sides were evenly matched.

Just as Tang Hao was nearing his limit—

The Asura God pointed with one finger. A red mist and the white soul orb flew from the God Realm to the Douluo Continent.

The red mist entered Tang Hao's body.

And the soul orb entered the infant—replacing the original soul, which was soon annihilated.

"Finally... it begins."

The Asura God's voice echoed like thunder across eternity.
