After they got over their emotions, Hachiman noticed Nobu was awfully quiet, after he checked on him, he remained a little despondent for what seemed like both an eternity and the blink of an eye, but he eventually snapped out of it and too Nobu's body away for burial, he had mentioned he wanted to be buried with Hana-nee if possible, so if course he was going to fulfill this simple wish.
After sealing Nobu's body in his makeshift sealing scroll, Hachi finally went to sleep, waking up the next day, he felt a lingering motivation he had never felt before, maybe this is what they call purpose?

Three years have passed since Hachi buried Nobu's body. Today, he finally found the exact location of the God Tree; the reason it took so long was simple, almost no one knew where this damn tree actually was, most rumors of it were either lies or tall tales spread for entertainment.
But today, after finally finding the location, he realized that he could have just followed the sunset from the ruins he spawned in and he would have reached here in at most three months.
It truth, Hachi wasn't too pained over this development, first of all, being too young would be bad for a meeting with Kaguya, but most importantly, he got to develop his rough skills to an acceptable level now, he can finally use some self-made D-rank and C-rank jutsu of all elements except Yin and Yang, but they are all too inefficient, and except for the substitution jutsu, the transformation jutsu and the work-in-progress body flicker, they are still worthless for practically purposes; his real gains were his refinement of taijutsu, bukijutsu (weapon throwing) and kenjutsu (swordmanship).
Even though he couldn't forge a proper sword yet, he actually found some blacksmiths selling tantos and all kinds of other blades made of pure chakra metal for the Samurai, so he simply robbed an unsuspecting Samurai that had a design he liked, he obviously made sure he was neither poor nor a good person, so rest assured, he still has morals.
With this blade he learned chakra flow and both wind and lighting nature infusion, although he still couldn't do ranged attacks or create a vacuum sword with Wind Release, his kenjutsu was now his strongest skill.
He obviously didn't neglect the basics with bukijutsu, he could now use all the ninja tools he could find or make proficiently, sadly, he simply couldn't replicate or waste time looling for stuff like shrunken with special strings, the kusanagi swords and supreme defensive treasures like the Yata Mirror or the Uchiha's Gunbai.
He was still about as good as an average Uchiha shinobi or a young genius in bukijutsu from what he saw in the show, which he thought was quite good considering he didn't have a Sharingan and that it wasn't his focus.
As for his taijutsu, he had a regular physique, so it was simply trained, as for his skill, he could use chakra infuse punches and kicks, but as he didn't have much chakra, it basically only worked once for now.
The exciting thing was a technique he was developing inspired from the Seven Heavens Breathing method, the Eight Gates technique, th Body Revival technique and the Creation Rebirth technique, he was basically trying to find a way to increase his body's long-term potential while also making it possible to maybe temporarily crank it up to a new level without any lasting side effects.
The progress of this technique was surprisingly not completely bleak, by using his constantly practiced chakra control, he can already allow his body to use more oxygen and increase his blood flow to increase all of his physical capabilities, especially his reaction speed and explosive power, using this technique to train and heal his body also allows him to improve his physical shape as long as he eats enough protein to account for the excessive reco ery process, the problem is that using it also tires his current body very quickly, but Hachiman thinks he could either make this improvement permanent or similar to the Sharingan and Byakugan in that it's almost natural and doesn't require much chakra, he has named it the Stairway to Godhood technique as he hopes to one day have the body of a God with an improved version of this technique.
During these years, Hachiman noticed a massive problem, he didn't have enough chakra, his chakra was simply a joke, he had a lot of spiritual energy and his physical energy also improved a lot, but it felt like most of it couldn't be extracted and merged into chakra to perform techniques, Hachiman strongly believed that this must have been what Hagoromo did to give humanity chakra, he must have found a way to make our body's energy compatible with the process of making chakra.
The reason he is so sure of this is that even if he wanted to, he simply couldn't die of chakra exhaustion, even when he runs out of chakra, it's like he just rushed to catch the bus in time, absolutely fine.
The other issue he found is that there seems to be a very overbearing energy in the air that he suspects to be natural energy, since he can feel it, he's actually very happy, but it's like holding a rotating piece of meat on a stick in front of a dog when he can't eat it, it's just depressing that he can't even harness or use all this natural energy around, and since the Great Toad Sage Gamamura should be quite young right now, Hachi figures that White Snake Hag and maybe even Lady Katsuyu are probably in a similar situation of immaturity, so he might have to risk using an improvised Sage mode or waiting to find their help before he can use senjutsu, but neither of those options are feasible in the near future.
In conclusion, he's basically at the level of a special jonin if you ignore his chakra, his jonin level skill being his Pathway to Godhood aided kenjutsu, but he would be a very limited special jonin, as his chakra is pitiful, and all his effective techniques consume all of it in mere instants, so unless he uses his techniques decisively to end his opponent, he's actually more like a chuunin.
Now, since he doesn't wanna be like adult Sasuke or Sharingan Kakashi, he needs to either find Kaguya or do some inhumane experiments to gain more chakra, since Kaguya is literally a small trip away, he decided to leave destroying his moral compass for later.
Hachiman finally set forth to the place he had confirmed be the birthing ground of the God Tree, and he was certain that the result of this meeting with Kaguya would decide which future would come knocking on his door.
