A blonde woman was lying on her shabby bed when she was sickly.
She was in a room that was not fit to live in, as the walls were crumbling and there was also a lot of trash around.
However, she seemed to be patient with her situation as she was sure that her fiancé would return soon and take her to a much better place as he had promised to do so.
"Cough cough... Yohan, where have you been? I hope you come back soon..." she said while coughing. She even saw blood on her palm after she coughed.
Her breathing was even more labored, and she felt like she could no longer stand her current state.
"I have to take my medicine," muttered the poor woman, and she reached for her medicine bottle that was on the table right next to her bed.
However, it turned out that the medicine had run out and there was not a single pill left in it. She desperately needed the medicine because if she didn't, her illness would worsen.
Her health had been declining ever since she had a miscarriage that was intentionally done on her fiancé's orders.
Actually, she didn't want to do that, but because her fiancé wasn't ready to have a child and promised that once he was successful he would accept the next child.
She innocently accepted the offer to abort the baby at a clinic that turned out to be not so good at handling it.
"What should i do? My medicine has run out and I really need it or I won't be able to move my body," she said.
Not long after, there was the sound of a door opening and footsteps approaching her room.
The woman was so happy because she was sure that the footsteps belonged to her fiancé.
"Yohan, I knew you would come for me. Yohan, the medicine you gave me has run out. I really need-"
Before she finished speaking, she was surprised to see Yohan coming with a woman.
She knew the woman because they met several times and Yohan said that the woman was his good friend.
"What is this? She lives in a place like this? This place doesn't deserve to be called a house but a pigsty," said the woman who came with Yohan. She laughed condescendingly at Yohan's current fiancée who was suffering.
"Oh Stephanie baby, you're right. This place is not worthy of being called a house but a pigsty and suitable for a woman like Claudia," Yohan said as he wrapped his arm around Stephanie's waist.
Claudia was wide-eyed with shock when she heard what her fiancé had to say about her current home. Her house had gotten so bad because she sold her original house and moved into it to help Yohan and his current company.
"What do you mean, Yohan? Why are you saying such things to me, your own fiancée! And why would you call Stephanie that?" asked Claudia in a tone of voice that couldn't believe what she was hearing right now.
"Fiancée, you? I don't remember being engaged to a woman like you. You're just a naive woman who easily believes everything I say and even follows what I say," he replied with a sly smile.
Yohan said all the things he felt that Claudia was a completely innocent woman who could easily be taken advantage of.
"You were even willing to abort the child. What a pathetic woman," the man said as if he didn't care what happened to Claudia all this time.
"You even went so far as to dye your hair blonde like me, just to listen to Yohan. Don't you realize that Yohan only wants me?" Stephanie asked.
That's when Claudia realized that Yohan had been using her all along.
He took all her wealth, controlled everything she did and even told her to dye her hair blonde just so he could keep remembering Stephanie.
"All this time Stephanie was all I wanted and she was the perfect woman instead of you! You're not even that different from an animal that just follows what its master says."
Claudia's heart broke when she heard that. She had no idea that Yohan had never even loved her at all and that Stephanie was all he had ever wanted.
"So all these 3 years... You had a relationship with her right behind my back?" Claudia asked with tears streaming from her blue eyes.
"Exactly! And you never once realized it because you were so stupid!"
The man and woman laughed, laughing at Claudia's dying agony. And indeed she foolishly believed that this same medicine she was taking was a painkiller, but it turned out to be a medicine that Yohan had poisoned little by little.
"Then enjoy what little time you have left!" said Yohan as he left the place together with Stephanie.
With a broken heart, she squeezed her own chest which felt so tight and increasingly painful. Blood was flowing out of her mouth, and she knew her remaining life would not be long.
And at that moment, another set of footsteps that sounded so fast ran into her room and there was a middle-aged man standing in front of Claudia's door.
"Ms. Claudia!" he said in a panicked voice as he ran up to her and looked at her.
The middle-aged man's face looked similar to Yohan, as he was none other than the man's father.
"Mr. Davidson," Claudia said in a voice that was so weak when she saw him.
Mr. Davidson immediately lifted Claudia's body onto his lap, and he felt so sad, sorry for what his son had done.
"I'm sorry, really sorry, that I couldn't protect you from Yohan," he said in a trembling, guilt-ridden voice.
Claudia felt quite touched when she heard the man's words. Mr. Davidson usually always looked flat and cold to everyone. But this time he looked so sad for what happened to him.
"It's all my fault, I'm really sorry that I couldn't protect you," he said repeatedly while hugging Claudia.
With trembling hands, she reached for Mr Davidson's face and she realized that he had been the one who had been more attentive to her underneath his cold nature.
"It's... It's not your fault, Mr. Davidson..."
In her little heart, Claudia wished that she could do something to change her life. The anger and sadness inside her body was really peaking, but she knew she could not do anything because the time had come.
Slowly her body could no longer feel and she knew that she would die soon.
And before death really took her, Claudia spoke to herself.
'If God is kind enough to repay all the good I've done in the past, it would probably be foolish. I wish I could change what happened and make things right.'
Slowly her eyes closed, and that made Mr. Davidson hug her even tighter.
Without realizing it, his tears fell onto Claudia's face.
"Ms. Claudia... Ms. Claudia wake up!"
Hearing her name being called, Claudia immediately opened her eyes and she was surprised to see herself in another place, a company lobby.
