Chapter 5: The Reign of Zeus
The Olympians overthrew the Titans, establishing their dominion over the cosmos. Zeus became the King of the Gods, ruling from the towering peaks of Mount Olympus.
Erebus, however, remained in the shadows, content to dwell in the realm that bore his name. He had no desire for power or recognition. He simply wanted to understand the universe and his place within it.
He continued to observe the mortals, fascinated by their capacity for both great good and unspeakable evil. He saw the rise and fall of civilizations, the triumphs and tragedies of human existence.
He sometimes intervened in the lives of mortals, offering guidance or assistance to those who were lost or suffering. But he always did so subtly, careful not to disrupt the natural order of things.
He formed a close bond with Hades, the god of the Underworld. They shared a mutual understanding of the darkness and the inevitability of death. They often discussed the fate of souls and the mysteries of the afterlife.
