Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Awakening Ceremony

On the day of the exam, the school grounds were crowded with anxious parents waiting outside the gates. It was one of the most important days in their children's lives.

When Mo Fan walked out, he immediately spotted his father waving and calling his name. He approached with a small smile.

"Father? Why did you come here?"

"To pick you up, of course!" Mo Jiaxing replied cheerfully. "By the way, how was your exam? Think you can pass it? Don't worry if you can't. I've already found a job for you. You'd be able to make decent money with it."

Mo Fan smiled faintly. "I think I did okay. The rest is up to fate. Let's wait for the results."

"That's good then. Let's go home. I made your favorite dish today!"

When they returned home, father and son shared a warm, heartfelt dinner. It was one of those quiet moments that Mo Fan would later cherish, a sense of belonging slowly settling in his heart.

During the two-month summer break, Mo Fan didn't break his habit of going to the library. He studied consistently, and bit by bit, his magical knowledge grew. Eventually, the exam results came out. He had passed—just barely—but that didn't matter. His goal wasn't to get a high rank. All he needed was a chance to awaken his magic.

Time flew by, and soon September arrived. School officially began. Mo Fan was placed in Class 8, with student number 48. After the opening ceremony, the students were taken to the Awakening Hall for the much-anticipated magic awakening.

Their homeroom teacher, a middle-aged man named Xue Musheng, stood at the front of the class and began calling out names.

"Hey, the last one—you're not gonna fail the awakening, are you? I heard some people can't awaken anything. A dreg like you should just stop wasting the energy of the expensive Awakening Stone," sneered Zhao Kunsan, an old classmate of Mo Fan.

Mo Fan recognized him from his memories and chose to ignore him. He already knew what element he was likely to awaken. Zhang Xiaohou looked like he wanted to argue, but Mo Fan stopped him with a glance. He didn't want to start drama on the very first day.

"Mu Bai!" the teacher called out.

A tall, handsome boy walked up to the podium. Mo Fan looked at him thoughtfully. So this is Mu Bai… From what he recalled, they didn't get along, and it was all because of a girl. Thinking back on the original Mo Fan's petty rivalry, he couldn't help but sigh. The original one really was a fool, doing all that for a girl...

Bringing his focus back to the ceremony, he saw Mu Bai place his hand on the Awakening Stone and successfully awaken the Ice Element. Judging by the teacher's expression, his talent seemed impressive.

One after another, students stepped forward and awakened their magic. Most got the Earth, Light, or Water elements.

Then it was Zhang Xiaohou's turn. He awakened the Wind Element, just as Mo Fan remembered.

A girl named Zhou Min stepped up next and awakened the Fire Element.

Finally, after what felt like forever, it was Mo Fan's turn.

As he walked to the podium, a mixture of anticipation and curiosity filled his heart. Will I awaken the same element as in the novel? Or will something change this time?

Well, it doesn't matter. I have knowledge of the future. No matter what I awaken, I can become strong.

He placed his hand on the Awakening Stone and closed his eyes, beginning to search for his Spiritual World.

This so-called Spiritual World could be seen when one closed their eyes. Within their mind, a void would emerge—an empty mental space where images might flicker like old movie scenes. As Mo Fan emptied his mind, that void became a blank canvas... a sky without stars.

Suddenly, a commotion erupted outside the classroom.

"Heavens! Someone in Class 7 awakened the Lightning Element!"

On the training ground, a student cried out in shock.

"What?! Lightning?! That's a once-in-a-lifetime stroke of luck!"

"Where, where?! Whoa, look at that dazzling purple! The homeroom teacher must be ecstatic!"

"Ughh, I'm stuck with Water Element. Why couldn't I get Lightning?"

"Don't bother jumping off the roof—you'll just land on the corpse of a Light Element user."

"This Lightning Element student will definitely stir up the whole school!"

While everyone was focused on the Lightning Element awakening, Mo Fan quietly explored his own spiritual world.

And then—he saw it.

Two Stardusts.

One was red, representing the Fire Element.

The other was purple, representing the Lightning Element.

A slow, satisfied grin formed on his lips. So, I awakened two elements. Dual awakening talent... that's great.

When Mo Fan returned to his class, Xue Musheng asked him what element he had awakened.

Mo Fan casually replied, "Fire."

He didn't want to attract too much attention—not yet.
